Abby is a brilliantly acted and well written character who signifies a parallel to Joel's redemption arc. She killed Joel who killed her dad who was finding a cure. Plus she knows that she has been blinded by vengeance and has travelled to a path of darkness and hate just like Joel when he lost Sarah. So just like Joel she finds her humanity again through the innocence of a child henceforth showing us a parallel of Joel

Yeah, she’s actually incredibly similar to both Ellie and Joel too. The only difference is that we saw her vengeance before knowing her, and when we do know her we get to really understand her pain and trauma. Well... the real fans do. The haters gotta hate.
TheGodKilla 007 we know why he did what he did and the majority agree with it. Maybe Abby doesn’t deserve that much hate but it’s understandable to not like her.
@@uchiwamadara4614 I fully understand why Joel did what he did, but it doesn't take away the fact that he was completely selfish with the fireflies and the rest of humanity. After seeing Abby's side, I can't understand how anyone would not be able to like her, because she is not really a bad person. She had traumas like Joel or Ellie, lost a lot like Joel and Ellie and yet she still helped people, she still loves, she still manages to move on and save lives. And it saves me some time, because i dont have to do one myself. It is already perfect.
What an absolute f&$king unit of a legend Abby Anderson is ... this game has created so many epic legendary characters it’s so amazing ... f$&k the haters this game is unreal .... probably the only thing this game did “wrong” was make Abby so great she outshined the other characters....
I did a tribute on her too, I really like her a lot and I even wonder if I'm starting to like her more than Ellie. I think people don't hate the character, he hates what the developers do, I think if people would finally stop judging naughty dog choices, they'd start liking Abby, or at least stop hating her ( if he really hates her suddenly)
I've played through this game twice and I'm still asking myself who's the better person? Abby or Ellie? My first playthrough, I thought it was Ellie. I had a very hard time forgiving Abby for murdering Joel, especially in such a painful and torturous way. I thought Abby deserved to have all of her closest friends die and didn't even really feel bad for her until the end in Santa Barbara. I had a very different take on my second playthrough. Abby's done some fucked up shit no doubt, but she has a conscience as well. Maybe more than Joel or Ellie do. Neither girl is a saint, nor are they completely irredeemable. Where I feel that Ellie went too far was beating Nora to death with a pipe. Even if it was to make her talk, it was hypocritical when you realize that that's exactly how Joel died. It makes Ellie no better than Abby. One other thing that Ellie does is force Abby to fight her by threatening Lev, who honestly just put an arrow through Tommy's leg and Dina's shoulder to protect Abby. He didn't have a hand in Joel's murder, which was the whole point of Ellie's journey. But Ellie, despite everything, lets Abby and Lev leave. She could've easily killed them both, but she didn't. She let them go in the end. That's where she could be considered the "better person." Abby murders Joel at the beginning, a decision that I never really felt she regretted. Her revenge was justified, same as Ellie's was. I felt Abby went too far by almost killing Dina. While Dina was definitely one of Ellie's greatest allies, she got sidelined before Ellie had really killed anyone except for Jordan. She had a more of a hand in the deaths of Nora and Whitney, so I could see where Abby was coming from to a certain degree. Where I felt Abby could be classified as the "better person" is that she only murdered the responsible party: Joel. She let Ellie and Tommy live despite them being loose ends and possibly coming after her. It's a very complicated argument and I'm still not certain of which side I fall on, and I wish more people actually took the time to go through this game more than once and actually *think* about it instead of just shaming it because it didn't live up to their expectations. No, the game's not perfect. It goes on a little too long for my taste, but that's an opinion. The Scars leave a lot to be desired as well, and I honestly never really cared about the Scars vs the WLF. Both protagonists do shit that you just straight up won't agree with and a good thing. Parts of it will make you really uncomfortable. This game forces you to think. It forces you to step into Ellie and Abby's shoes and think about morality and revenge and just how far you would be willing to go and what you're willing to lose to get it. But in the end, revenge doesn't give Abby or Ellie peace. It arguably leaves them more empty than they ever were before. Abby's closest friends lie six feet under, most of them as a direct result of her revenge. When Ellie returns to the farmhouse, it's abandoned and Dina and JJ are nowhere to be found.
Interesting. I did not catch the similarity between Nora and Joel’s death. I think Abby only committed necessary evils but Ellie sought out to mercilessly kill many more people that were not related in her quest for revenge
if you hate abby for killing joel you need to take a step back and reassess the entire situation and remember that joel was NOT a good guy in this story, he destroyed humanity's chance at a cure and abby lost her father in the process. ellie and abby are two sides of the same coin. you can't hate abby for her actions without hating ellie for her own after joel's death.

There aren't many black and whites in life. It is all about perspective. Beautiful video. Ellie killed way more relevant characters than Abby. Fighting for her life in some cases, true, but not always ... even Joel killed some people in cold blood on Part 1. If Abby had killed Ellie, Dina, or even both of them, It would have made me sad but I could have understood it from the point of someone's emotional turmoil at the time of losing Owen. Just like Ellie's motivations were to avenge Joel. I was happy they could both live and avoid further murders though.
This game was great, except that part for letting a pregnant lady go to the frontlines. That shit was goofy, not only is she pregnant, but she is also a surgeon/doctor. Really sad that she died the way she did.
No, she (Abby) is a character who was created to appeal to the feminists. Many of whom don’t even play this game anyway. What she did to Joel was disgusting and deserves no praise whatsoever. Especially, considering how her dad and the Fireflies were in the wrong and how Joel was in the right. For example, fungal infections can’t be treated via a vaccine, you need to find an immune person (Ellie) and find which antibodies within her system keeps her immune and then give those antibodies to other people who are at risk. Another example is how Abby’s dad refused to back down and raised a knife to Joel making the kill an act of self defense. I like Laura Bailey and I’m against the death threats being made against her, but Abby is a understandable villain at best, and a despicable sociopath at worst. Ellie’s revenge quest isn’t justified either. At the end of the day, Part 2 was created to appeal to radical feminist and liberal fantasies at the cost of good character development and a poorly paced story. I could go into more, but then this comment would become more of an article and less of a comment.
