Hi! Harry's mother (Lily) and Harry's aunt (Petunia) are sisters. Which means Harry will be safe living with blood relatives because it will keep him safe from Voltermort. After his seventeenth birthday he will be free to live anywhere he wants.
28:14 you are the first youtuber that actually said the real reason why harry didnt trust dumbledore, i saw like 15 youtubers that were angry/confuse at harry for not talking
It's mirroring Tom Riddle. He came from the orphanage and was mistreated by the adults as well. That's why they gave identical answers when prodded to share information.
When you realize that Harry was sleeping in a closet under the stairs for years while the Dursleys live in a 4 bedroom house. Master bedroom, guest room, Dudley's room and Dudley's room for all of his junk. Ron wasn't a big coward in the books. That was the screenwriter's choice because his favorite character Hermione had to be given almost all of Ron's big moments and lines. Besides..Ron is absolutely terrified of spiders but he went chasing them into the forest with Harry anyway. I'd say that's pretty brave when you have arachnaphobia.
See this is why I like you so much as a reactor: You immediately got the concept that Harry just can't trust any adults in his life because of his upbringing. Not a lot of reactors pick up on that, they're like "yooo just tell Dumbledore it'll be fine". Looking forward to your insights on the next ones!
Quick heads up btw. In the next one ‘Prisoner of Azkaban’, the actor playing Professor Dumbledore known as Richard Harris won’t be in it as he died in 2002 😢
When Ron said “why can’t it be follow the butterflies?” I remembered there’s a side mission in the game Hogwarts Legacy where you follow butterflies. I just now made that connection. lol
I always know I’m going to like the person reacting when they say where are WE, instead of, where is he? I know it means they are putting themselves into that situation and feeling the movies! ❤
hey, when snape told harry and ron that if they were in slytherin, snape'd have sent them back on the train, it may be plausible that if draco was with them, probably would've done it to him
One of the things I most enjoy about how JK Rowling crafted this saga (and it runs too deep and long to be anything but a saga) is how every character has a backstory that explains their actions and attitudes. For Draco, consider how he is always talking about his father, who he seems to consider a big shot and always correct. You can see Draco modeling himself after Lucius, repeating his prejudices and copying his arrogance and elitism. But do you see any warmth from Lucius? Do you see Lucius expressing any appreciation, any pride, in Draco? No. Lucius is as contemptuous of Draco as he is of everyone else. Lucius has unreachable expectations even of his son Draco and Draco starves for his father's approval and acceptance; he's desperate to please his father, who remains cold and distant. I think Draco was hoping to acquire the friendship of the illustrious Harry Potter, a real coup, but instead Harry publicly rejected him, embarrassing Draco. Draco resents Harry not just for humiliating him the first day at Hogwarts, but also because that humiliation would get back to Lucius. That is what set the bad blood between them, and Draco has been pushing that enmity ever since. Lucius Malfoy is on the Hogwarts Board of Governors, who oversee management of Hogwarts for the Ministry of Magic. That means the Board of Governors (including Lucius) is technically Headmaster Dumbledore's boss, so technically he can speak to Dumbledore however which way he likes, even if it's rude or uncalled for. Ron comes by his fear of spiders through no fault of his own. As a very young child, his twin brothers used to turn his favorite teddy bear into a spider. Ron's backstory is being the youngest boy of a poor family of ambitious and accomplished siblings. His older 5 brothers have made their mark, which gives him a lot to live up to. The family are pressed into a tiny house, literally living on top of each other, and his siblings constantly invade his personal space. There's a scramble for food, so Ron suffers food insecurity, which leaves him with impulse control problems. And being bullied and shamed for being poor doesn't help. Having to do with secondhand or hand-me-down items also doesn't help, especially when such below-par school supplies impact his success at Hogwarts. Ron is a mass/mess of insecurities. Actually, Lockhart wasn't lying when he said his best talent was memory charms. The problem was using Ron's wand to cast the Obliviate Charm when Ron's secondhand wand had become wonky from being broken. One way it reacts to casting spells is to make the spell rebound (bounce back) on the caster. Lockhart lost all memory for the remainder of his life. He ended up a permanent resident of St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries (see the aftercredits scene; this film is the only one that has one).
The charm backfired because he was using Ron’s wand. He actually was able to do a oblivate charm. Otherwise other wizard would of told people he was a fraud
The screen writer projects Hermione too much: Ron knows what mudbloods are because he's a pure blood. Hermione is muggle born and the term is not written down anywhere, so how does Hermione know? In the books Ron tells her what it means. This will be a recurring theme: downplaying the Weasley family as a whole. Also Ginny is much more attractive than Hermione in the books: they tried to make Emma Watson less attractive by giving her false teeth for example, but this interfered with her acting!
Ron’s facial expressions are the best part of this movie 😆 Most people consider this the weakest of the series, but it holds a special place for me… was the first HP book I read at 12 years old. Love the mystery aspect!
One thing that is sometimes overlooked is that there are no "good" or "bad" Hogwarts houses. Yes, Slytherin is considered to be "bad", but there are its decent representatives (no spoilers). And in this movie, Lockhart is an example of a "bad" Ravenclaw (according to the official additional materials). Ravenclaws appreciate learning, wit and wisdom, and Lockhart is not a fool, of course not, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to conduct such a con with making everyone (okay, almost) believe that he did all those noble things he wrote about. (In the books, he states that his appearance is a hook, because "who wants to know that the wizard who saved a whole village was a hunchback?") But on the other hand, Lockhart is lazy and narcissistic. Not the best traits in the world. In the book, there is also a sort of "bad" Hufflepuff, Harry's course mate Ernie Macmillan, who openly accuses Harry of all the attacks ("Potter got angry at that camera boy, and here you go!") and refuses to believe that there could be any other options... until Hermione is attacked, and Ernie sincerely apologizes to Harry because he knows that Harry would've never hurt her. As about "bad" Gryffindors... you'll see later
Professor Quirrell, from the first film, was also a Ravenclaw. What a lot of film viewers don't know is what criteria the Sorting Hat uses to assign House membership. It's not interests or talents. It's core values; the Sorting Hat is matching the student's core values with the House core values. Remember what Hermione (who by talents and interests would seem perfect for Ravenclaw) tells Harry at the end of the giant chess game: "Books! And cleverness! There are more important things-friendship and bravery." Friendship and bravery are specifically part of Gryffindor core values, which is why she was placed there. Slytherin House values include ambition, resourcefulness, determination, and cleverness; they tend to self-preservation and they are slow to extend trust to others. Slytherins are not inherently 'evil', but their values lean to situational ethics and only the wisest of them think in terms of Big Picture or long-term effects. Those who think short-term success or shortcuts end up creating problems for themselves and others.
yeah, the actor was only able to think of one harry potter curse and he didn't know which curse that was, or at least he wasn't aware how bad that choice of a curse was
They explain in OTP/HBP why he has to go to them every summer (at least in the book, not sure if they do in the movie). Hint: has to do with love and sacrifice.
It's more a matter of shortsightedness on the part of Slytherins looking for an easy 'win' or advantage. Wiser Slytherins still practice situational ethics, but understand that every choice has a cost and a longer view saves everyone a lot of trouble overall.
Hello, I just wanted to say that I enjoy your video reactions and I wanted to suggest you these others franchises to react (if you've never seen them before of course ^^) : -Star wars -Indiana jones -The Matrix trilogy
I don't trust people who say "I knew it" about everything... Last movie you wanted Harry to "expelliarmus" someone before you ever heard of the word... And the Malfoys owns Dobby??? I've got my eye on you.
