I can't get over how happy I am that you guys are doing this series! As the story matures, I'm excited to hear the heavier discussions! You both pick up on a lot of the emotions and big themes in everything else you watch ❤
Although Alan Rickman was a great actor, and you’re right, his role in this series is hard to top. But Gary Oldman is my fav. Actor hands down. But his role in this doesn’t top Alan’s in this one. So for this series I agree.
It's more Harry's courage than his power. He's like the definition of bravery. That's why he's in Gryffindor, because each house represents certain qualities in people. Gryffindor represents courage, bravery, and determination. But don't worry, there is more to Harry Potter than just his courage.
no one helped him out? didn't hermione use the same exact spell on her parents, and later she somehow gets their memories back. i mean not like he deserves it, but damn.
You learn in the books, when Harry and the rest arrived back at the station on the way home, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley saw how badly Mr. and Mrs. Dursley were treating Harry and they warned them that they would be checking up on them and how they were treating him. That is why the Dursleys gave Harry Dudley’s second bedroom.
@@toodlescae Close enough. I’m not going to go back and reread the section just so I can give a verbatim explanation. If they’re intersted in more, they can read it.
They gave Harry Dudley's second bedroom back in the Philosopher's Stone, once Harry started getting letters from Hogwarts with the envelope saying that Harry was living in the cupboard under the stairs (because The Dursleys thought wizards were spying on them). The scene you described was at the end of the Order of the Phoenix.
You guys are amazing. I’ve enjoyed watching your reactions to amazing movies. Keep on inspiring, motivating, & making us think and feel what’s happening on screen. Y’all rock!!! Let’s go.
You're probably already into the later films, but just in case... Richard Harris passed away shortly after making "Chamber of Secrets." A new actor - Michael Gambon - was brought in to play Dumbledore, but rest assured he is supposed to be the exact same character.
Filch is a Squib. He is basically a muggle born to Wizard parents. Also, the answer to your question of "How is that Voldemort?" will be answered in the 6th movie, so remember the diary.
A lot of the names are a little on the nose in this series. Hedwig, who is a girl owl, is the name of the patron saint of orphans. Also, I feel like I can say it now without there being any spoilers because it is literally never mentioned in the movies, but I was so impressed that Mrs. O picked up that it seems off in the first movie that Hogwarts cooks and cleans itself. It doesn't. It has a small army of house elves as essentially slave labor. In the book, Hermione is literally the only person that is bothered by the situation. She starts a club committed to their welfare.
Happy Thanksgiving guys!!! I have to say I'm very grateful for the opportunity of knowing you two wonderful people ❤ As an old Harry Potter fan I must say I like a lot of characters but my favorites are definitely Ron Wesley and his entire family, Hagrid, professor Mcgonagall, Dumbledore and more to come😊! And on another note I have to ask you since you're so close to 50K subscribers will we get a live reaction to mark this milestone?
Is Mrs. October okay in these Harry Potter reactions ?😂 her guesses and comments are just off the charts!! Where did she get that Filtch is the head of Ravenclaw hahaha
As of film 2, my favorite character is Professor McGonagall. Out of the 3 main people. I like Ron. He is the most real to me. Out of every character ever. I like Dobby. So pure..
27:02 Actually Ron Weasley is the more unique one, coming from one of less than half a dozen Pure Blood families left in Great Britain. (The Malfoys and Blacks [you will run into them soon enough] are others.) Hermione is actually among the more common as intermarriage with Muggles has caused most wizarding families to have 50% or less of wizarding family blood. The biggest difference with the Weasleys is - unlike most Pure Blood families - the Weasleys are not concerned with their blood status and will be friendly with half-blood or muggle-born alike. The other families are stand-offish and will not mix with what they consider inferior bloodlines.
I actually love the minor characters and seeing glimpses of them (both in the books and the movies). In the first two my favorite characters are Hermione for sure, Harry, Draco, Seamus, McGonagall, Neville, Molly, and Lucius.
My favorites for so far movie Inorder of appearance Haggred ( He is so sweet and clueless) (sp), Mr and Mrs Weasley (THey are funny and have a BIG heart), Ron Weasly (I just like his personality its the most relatable to me.), Professor Snape and Professor McGonagel ( Sp?) Because they are both very sassy for lack of a better word.
My favorite character has always been Hermione (book Hermione is even better) but Ron was my close second. And Hagrid. Y’all are the best it feels so special getting to share this bit of nostalgia with yall. I can’t wait to see the reunion with yall after you’ve watched the movies 🎉
29:30 - HAHA! You guys are funny! Argus Filch can't even use magic and he's the headmaster of Ravenclaw!? Never heard such irony before. Mrs. October got my sides hurting. That be cool though if he was Headmaster. David Bradley did try auditioning for another role, I think Severus Snape, I forgot which one but ultimately got Argus Filch instead. Anyways, Ravenclaw House are a studious type of people who are smart, witty and are intellects that think outside the box. Argus has magic ancestry but he can't use magic, he's what you call a "squib". Similar to "muggle" for non-magic folk. He is the janitor at Hogwarts.
Again, Mr. October is the Everyman, "I'd be a Muggle." Quick wit, unerring moral compass, ready to defend and stand up for the underdog, and humility. Doesn't need to know the secrets of the universe to know what's right.
The only thing I don’t like about these movies is how dirty they do Ron’s character like he’s not that bad of a wizard and he has so much better moments in the books that we’re given to Hermione in the films
I thought the movie series started slow (not necessarily true for the books) but by the time we get to the third film, the series becomes addictive and essential viewing. The first two films were too long in my opinion, but I understand they were world building at the beginning. And I can't spoil who my favorite character is, because they are not yet in the story. Peace!
Happy Thanksgiving🦃 Hope ur having an amazing holiday weekend. U'll find its practically impossible to to pick a fav. Dobbys adorable, lol. Pellebaphobia, a phobia of unbrellas, its more common than u'd think. Its going to be a great adventure. Thanx so much, stay groovy, Peace
the only weasley not here is ron 2 oldest brother bill the oldest and charlie second oldest cause one time they started hogwart bill and charlie had already graduated hogwarts got job save up moved out and enjoy young adult life being in their 20s but they come visit when they had time
I just moved to the south within the past few years. What is up with Jeep owners and rubber ducks? I never saw that trend up north, is there any lore behind it?!
Oddly enough, I don't have any character that I particularly like. However, the one I can't stand is Emma Watson's acting, she completely destroyed Hermione from the books, and a lot of the blame for this is also on the direction of the films.
These were books first so blame the author for part of it. 😂 The hat doesn't have a name. Snape is much worse in the book. Excellently written character but he's a jerk and a bully. I think you're confusing muggleborns (magic users birn to non-magic parents) and muggles (people with no magic in their family). Hermione is a muggleborn not a muggle. Filch is the opposite of that. He was born to 2 magic parents but has little to no magic himself. The wizarding wirld calls people like Filch squibs...and basically he's the caretaker of just the castle. Hagrid takes care of the grounds and wildlife.
53:14 It was touched upon more in the books and never mentioned in the movie adaptations, but the feasts at Hogwarts does not simply appear magically. The food is prepared and served by house elves (like Dobby) in kitchens beneath the great hall. In later books, Hermione becomes an elf-rights activist and founds SPEW - The Society for the Protection of Elf Welfare - in an attempt to get better civil rights for house elves everywhere. The wizarding world is truly darker than you imagine!
I don't want to spoil the rest of the movies, but I will hint to those who know what I'm talking about, that if Dumbeldore would know what was the diary, he would allow Harry to die in the chamber of secrets.
Like the video for your chance to win a Nimbus 3000!
Nimbus 3000 is a 30,000 Euro boat you god damn muggle!
I also liked the comment does that help ??

AGREE!
The Owl gracefully gliding face first into breakfast is my favorite scene of this movie 😂
My favorite character is Snape because Alan Rickman steals every scene in every movie he has ever been in. The Sorting Hat is The Sorting Hat.
Same

Dobby is the G.O.A.T
No, Gilderoy Lockhart spends the rest of his days in St. Mungos, a wizarding hospital, with no memory of who he is.
no one helped him out? didn't hermione use the same exact spell on her parents, and later she somehow gets their memories back.
i mean not like he deserves it, but damn.

@@harpxwx lol right??
@@harpxwxyes but I think it only works with the wizard who conjured the spell. Since he doesn’t remember anything about magic he can’t reverse it
Luna Lovegood and no one else is even a close 2nd.
"these are fun these aren't dark it feels like the holidays to us" YOU ARE IN FOR A RUDE AWAKENING FOR THE REST OF THE MOVIESSSS AHHH!!!!

Not exactly accurate
@@toodlescae Close enough. I’m not going to go back and reread the section just so I can give a verbatim explanation. If they’re intersted in more, they can read it.
@WMalven I had no problems with it. I was agreeing with you about telling them. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate.

Your love for the castle is rightly placed because it plays a major part in the end.
Filch is a Squib. He is basically a muggle born to Wizard parents. Also, the answer to your question of "How is that Voldemort?" will be answered in the 6th movie, so remember the diary.

She doesn't do that until the 4th book but fair enough to tell them now s8nce none of that is in the movies.
