Drop curtain behind front seats is key,I've been living in my Mini Van for 1-1/2 years never had the "knock" before the mini van I lived in a 01 Toyota Camry also had a drop curtain & removed back seats sleeping into the trunk.
I have the second Gen CRV. It has been absolutely fantastic for camping and road trips. I mounted a solar panel on the roof with a deep cycle battery and 2000 watt inverter under the passenger seat to run whatever tools are needed in remote areas. It pays to be creative with this wonderfully versatile vehicle. I still haven't figured an efficient use for the large storage well under the table. 🤔
awesomeness, thanks for sharing! and I mean it can always be useful for emergency stuff or things you use rarely. I found it to be a pain to get to even when I went to it relatively rarely.
I agree that the first gen is the nicest, but can confirm that the table comes with the second generation as well. If it’s missing, check a few junkyards ;D
I'm from West coast of Canada. It is a small vehicle, roughly 7x4x4 feet (lwh) inside. I bought mine from relative and debating whether to make it a office or comfort space. An average height male laying down will take almost full length of interior. Because of the pandemic it's handy to have as a place to eat meals since we can't eat inside anywhere. If you want a table, Walmart has one in stock that fits exactly from front dash to nearly the back seat; it is also adjustable in height and folds up; get it soon because it's rare to find something store bought that fits exactly.
Nice work! It's a lot of fun cramming the required ingredients for a comfy living situation into a tiny car, I'm doing similar in my Prius, il have to post a video tour when it's done
Awesome comfortable build bro! Informative video! You've inspired me to build my own Honda CR-V camper! I have since posted a TH-cam video about a FULL bed platform, which fits perfectly in the 01-06 Honda CR-V. Thank you for your inspiring and instructional video!
Thanks and my pleasure! Just checked out your video and saw you also got a Zinus mattress. You’ll love it man, it’s super comfy! Also, pro-tip: if it’s a gel-foam Zinus mattress, you can cut it using a serrated bread knife to get it to fit well. I needed to slice the end so I could put my seats back :)
Great question! I bought reflect-X from the hardware store and cut it to the size of each of my windows. I then used spray glue to stick black curtain to it and cut them to size + 2inches. I should have then sewn the edges, but never got around to it. Cheers!
Great build. I have a 2001 CRV, original owner, great drive. What I don’t like is that the back seats don’t lay down flat. At least I haven’t been able to get the area flat. Other than that, love the car.
I don’t remember the exact width, but it’s 6 inches thick and was 6 ft long. I took the mattress covering off and cut the mattress to shorten it by like 5 inches as I recall and secured the mattress cover with safety pins.
How tall a fellow are you? The CR-V is an excellent vehicle, but rather small! Congrats on getting it set up to camp. Brilliant idea using teh Ryobi tool fan, same charger as your drill or saw.
Wow awesome build I just bought a crv and recently got into wood working but with prices of wood rising I was a bit discouraged to do this. Now I'm motivated I plan on doing this but adding a thule cargo carrier on top for extra space. Whats your favorite thing about this car?
I like a lot of it, but I think if I'd have to choose 1, it's that this was all done without drilling any holes in the body of the CRV. Also, all the parts are modular and can be removed with, at most, a few wood screws. Also, if you're concerned about wood prices, it might motivate you to know that this entire setup was done with 1 4ft. x 8ft. x 3/4in. piece of plywood and a few scraps :)
Yeah as I needed to remove them to get a completely flat bed platform. The upside to removing them though is that I gained a bunch of storage space for my tools where the seats used to be :)
Lindsey’s friend: Man... it would be impossible to fully live out of a car, while being clean, & organized, & have more stuff than most households, & be comfortable. Lindsey: *Hold my car keys*
Thanks! And I fit perfectly in the bed without touching the seats, though sometimes my toes poke between them. I’m 5’3 though, so your mileage may vary
Wow Lindsey that’s Awesome you are sure smart to think of all that 😃 And yes I am thinking of all the money you will save to. I am glad you you made your dream come true. You enjoy and have fun. Love you always and may God keep you safe always 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️🌈🌈🌈🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I’m definitely considering it, I didn’t (at first) want to do a vlog as I thought my days were kinda ordinary, but considering the amount of requests I’ve been getting for it; maybe you’ll see one soon ;D Thanks for your input!
This was filmed a while ago and I since upgraded my kitchen situation (vid hopefully coming soon). I now have a table in the tailgate and use my butane cooker a lot more. Before tho, I mostly ate stuff I’d buy directly from the grocery store in small quantities (salad, burritos, fruits+veggies, etc.), restaurants, and, of course, canned stuff (which tastes great imo, I can eat canned beans for DAYYYYS). Also my breakfast is the same almost every day and is just oatmeal in a cup, so I only have to think of 2 meals instead of 3 :)
Nice, stealthy, cosy, functional❤it
Wow the folding table is super cool!
I think so too :P
Drop curtain behind front seats is key,I've been living in my Mini Van for 1-1/2 years never had the "knock" before the mini van I lived in a 01 Toyota Camry also had a drop curtain & removed back seats sleeping into the trunk.
Can confirm the drop curtain was super useful! I did get 3 knocks over 1.5 years though; 2 from cops and one from a friend that recognized my truck :P
I feel the potted plants complete the home.... some artificial vines around back window would be nice as well...
Agreed! As for the vines, they may or may not be in the works already...

Store your "out of season" clothes there, unless you are one of the lucky ones that don't get very harsh winters😢
I think that's a great solution to rent, as long as you can manage things like toileting and cleaning. Love the fan, desk and CR-V table.
Neat setup.
Thx, glad you like it!
Very organized & comfy looking. I like your positive attitude & the quote about how an engineer sees things.
Thanks for the kind words! :D
I also have a 01. That back pocket will now be called the wine bottle pocket.
Enjoyed this and subscribed❤
That’s fkn rad ❤️
Enjoyable video. What I’ve found that if you put a sunshade for the windshield als darkens the inside enough to hide what’s inside.
I think the table only comes stock with the first generation crv, which of course is the best one! 😁
I agree that the first gen is the nicest, but can confirm that the table comes with the second generation as well. If it’s missing, check a few junkyards ;D
the 2nd gen still has the table. but the succeeding ones are no longer equipped w/ this innovation.
Did this in my crv through most of 2019. Can't wait to get back to it
Awesomeness! I’d love to see it, got any pics or a video?
Awesome build!!! Your post on FB RD1 Enthusiast page got me here.
Dude thanks so much! And damn didn’t think anyone would pay any attention, glad to hear it!
I do the same in my Toyota! Be safe and thank u for sharing your set up!
Epicness and my pleasure bud! Rock on!
"That's my gym bag cause... well, that's where I shower... in the gym, not the bag" got me laughing so hard
❤️
Ok, I’m subscribing bc I LOVE seeing suv conversions especially Honda CRV’s!!! Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure, thanks for subbing, more to come soon ❤️

Is your CRV a 06 or 05 ?
Still looking good .
@@enzoh7763, that's a 1st gen crv, made until 2001 i think.
Yep, can confirm, I have a 2001, the last year of the 1st gens :)
Check out youtuber “InTheOpenAir” he has a CRV build that I think you’ll like.

Please do 👏🏼

where did you get the window covers u show at the end of the video??

I should have then sewn the edges, but never got around to it.

Hello Lindsey, You are so Brave! Thank you for this video!
Hey Juankstar, thanks for the kind words and my pleasure! 😁🤙
I really love this build. Very functional for the small space. I already miss my CR-V.
Thanks, glad you like it! And yeah I get that, I just sold this one 2 weeks ago to go backpacking (new video on the subject will be out soon) :)
Excellent stuff thanks!
My pleasure!

Thanks! And yeah I agree, that's why I took mine out actually :P
Have you try to flip up the rear base seat, then fold down the upper part? It may not be completely flat though.
@@harriex9 Hi, yes, actually wondered the purpose of that function since it doesn’t lay flat.
@@harriex9 yeah I tried and took it out because it wasn’t flat. This also adds storage where the seats used to be.
I have a rd1 I love it
Sweeet 🤙
@ 9:21 the table be like: “AAAAAHHHH where did my legs go?!”
Very organized. I wonder what you would do with a much bigger car like Toyota Land Cruiser or Land Rover Defender?
Thanks! And I wonder the same thing, here’s hoping we both find out soon enough! 😜
Wow very cool, looking forward more of your videos.
Thanks for the love, I’ll make sure to keep ‘em coming!
What are the dimensions of the matress you used?
Did you need to make any modifications?
I don’t remember the exact width, but it’s 6 inches thick and was 6 ft long. I took the mattress covering off and cut the mattress to shorten it by like 5 inches as I recall and secured the mattress cover with safety pins.
Put a roof rack on it and put a white cover on it. A black car absorbs heat. White reflects
But what if I like the heat tho?
How tall a fellow are you? The CR-V is an excellent vehicle, but rather small! Congrats on getting it set up to camp. Brilliant idea using teh Ryobi tool fan, same charger as your drill or saw.
I'm rather short at 5'3, and thanks a bunch!
Actually the engineer would say “the carrying capacity of the glass is not optimized for this particular purpose “.
Hey pretty cool
Lindsey great video man it’s awesome.
Thanks bud!
You’re welcome man!
The intro music is vicetone navada
Can confirm ;P
This is great. I have a 2004 black CRV, love my table in the back! What year is yours?
Thanks! And 2001, so last year of the first gen :)
Awesome video. Really cool
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Hi Good video, this 1st Gen of CRV?? saludos desde Argentina!
Saludos desde Canada! Sì, esta 1st gen (1996-2001). :)
Hi Lindsey how many miles do you have? I just got an 07 recently and looking to do the same
I forgot and ended up selling it, but awesome! Wishing you awesome adventures in it man!

What do you do in place of a cooler?
I just bought things as I needed them, since I was usually near a grocery store anyway.
Nice build there dude 🍻
Thanks a bunch bud!
PRETTY COOL MAN
did you remove the back seats?
Yeah as I needed to remove them to get a completely flat bed platform. The upside to removing them though is that I gained a bunch of storage space for my tools where the seats used to be :)
Awesome, thanks for sharing
My pleasure!

Yea the addition of extinguisher and co detector tells me this guy is legit. Salute.
Great video and awesome!
Thanks man!!
What do you use for moisture barrier under your foam bed?
Nice build man
Thanks!
Love it!
My concern is where take a 🚿🛁?
The gym! (When it’s not closed due to the quebec government, of course)
Great set-up! How do you sleep in the CR-V, do you push one of the front seats all the way forward or you sleep diagonally? I am curious..
Thanks! And I fit perfectly in the bed without touching the seats, though sometimes my toes poke between them. I’m 5’3 though, so your mileage may vary
Very enjoyable video! Hard to believe you can live there through winter though. Did your dad also helped you with that?
Especially well spoken and funny!
Thanks man, and nah, I plugged in a space heater and parked in a friend’s driveway :)
