    I’m a vintage Levi’s fanatic for sure. I used to hate jeans and wore skinnies and I hated the way they fit and looked. But now, ever since I got my first pair of 501s, Jeans are my go to pants, and have a rapidly growing collection😂

      get your self a 501 lvc pair. if you buy them raw unwashed. then make shure u size the length 2-3 inches extra and waist 1 inch extra or atleast a comfortable waist size. they will shrink in the first wash. as they are shrink to fit. but they have the classical 501 fit. modern pairs are still nice but once u see how the lvc fit your in for a treat.

      ty what is the deal with the orange tag? When I was really young there was a factory in town (Knoxville, TN) When they closed the factory in the early 90s to go to China everyone locally stopped wearing them. (myself included as I grew up on Lee and Wrangler) Anyway I have been back to Levis since 2020 and they are great. Im not switching back but I do like some of Lucky Brands pants. What is the Orange tag? Is it Knoxville made if so I want some. Levis 514 is my favorite but 501 is my 2nd fav.

    4:28 , the orange tabs are an indicator that those levi's were made with a different stitching method, this method was used from 1969-1999 :)

      Orange tab was their fashion line, where they allowed themselves a bit more variation over the basic models. At thrift stores I seek out orange tabs as many were made in Canada. (Of course vintage big E red tabs is a goal but I have not found any yet.

    I wore raw denim today and they were like cardboard but that is the point of putting your own wear in it. However my Levi's are all second hand and the older they are, the softer they are. I like 505 but I am on the fence about 501s because of the difficulty and time doing up a button fly compared to a zipper. I don't go for skinny but the legs can't be too baggy if I was a dress jean, and in dress jeans a dark wash is a must.

  • @EWPBPSstealth
    @EWPBPSstealth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I wear them for work, I’m in construction and those 501s are so durable. I would’ve cut my legs so many times over the past year with any other jeans if it wasn’t for the 501s taking the beating and not tearing.

  • @joshuamueda8222

    Livin in Japan so Levi's are curated all around second hand shops but the resell, especially on well-sourced vintage good stuff is crazy high. Being from America it can be hard to justify to lay that much down on em but people get real passionate about em out here

Got into vintage levis by visiting shops in Covent Garden - London like Flip & Kings Road American Classics back in the day. The 50's was the birth of rock n roll and Levis was a pioneer for young hipsters not dressing like their dads!

    Question for anyone who wants to answer:
    I have a pair of non-stretch 505s. I have chicken legs, and they're a little too loose. I bought them for the purpose of being looser around the thighs, because I can't stand jeans that hug your thighs. Do the 501s have that much of a difference to the 505s in thigh room?

  • @Theis_P
    @Theis_P 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Okay about vintage levis the reason most people buy 501 vintage is because the quality was better in the old day the orange tab means that the jeans is made in the USA whare the red tag is made in asia levi's stop making it's products in the USA in 2003. In Europe like most products from american brands levi's is dobble the price so where you in the US pay 60$-80$ for a pair of levi's in europe it between 110€-150€ for a pair of levi's. The vintage has been so big is that because the mid 2000s clothes was made to last but fast fashion have made it so clothes don't hold as long to day as to before.

    • @canadafree2087
      @canadafree2087 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not correct on the orange tab on Levi's over all, many orange tabs were made in Canada. Old big E red tags were before small e so you are more likely to find American made is red big E tabs. Levi's has closed the Canadian factory, which is why I shop used.

    Definitely would love to hear your thoughts on Levis’ new “501 93’ “ iteration. It supposedly has a slightly higher rise and a little bit more room on the thigh. Theres also the “premium” version of the 501, but im not exactly sure what the difference is other than the leather patch.
    Love the vids btw keep it up!!

    • @murakami2346
      @murakami2346 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey!
      I got the 93 version of the 501 and i can confirm, comparing them to my regular 501, they are a bit more "relaxed" on the thigh area and at least in my experience, i can button up almost touching my belly button where with the regulars, its between pelvis and belly button
      And for the "premium" 501, they're a tiny more thick and stiff, meant for you to use them until it gets your ideal shape and fit

    Depending what year you get the fit is all over the place on the 501 - the fit changed throughout the years. The fit I’m trying yo get back to is what I remember from the 80s with a little more tapper in the leg and hips. Recently got a new pair of the 150th Ann. Edition stfs , 2 actually because I took Levi’s advice and sized up. After the first fit and soak they are still huge so I ordered another pair in my measured waist size, again after the soak still too big ugh!

    Dude, Buy the shrink to fit 501s. Purchase them one size (2”) in the waist bigger than your usual size.. Wash them in warm water and let them air dry. They will be stiff at first. After about the third wash they will be perfect. Use about half the amount of detergent and lots of water when you wash them inside out. Never ever ever putting in a hot clothes dryer. Air dry only. You will look great. No more of those pre-washed jeans. In fact the best way to wash these is by hand in a bucket.

    I've bought 6 pairs of 501 in a row where the seam on the right leg moved annoyingly and uncomfortably round to the front of my leg, straight after buying them. Always the right leg. Levis gave me free vouchers to buy more as they said they must be faulty, and the same thing happened. I still don't understand why this is. I'm a slim to average guy and both my legs are the same size. Never happens with other brands and it's a shame as the 501 otherwise fits perfectly, but I can't wear them because of this issue

      If you buy the raw denim 501 (shrink to fit), leg twisting is a normal byproduct of the shrinking process due to the right hand twill. Buy preshrunk like he's showing in this video and you'll get little to no twist

    I was in the exact same place as you hahaha... literally never wear jeans but heard about the 501 so bought it and it just came today hahaha. I was wondering when you say fits at the waist do you mean just under the bellybutton??? Because when i bought it I think it said mid-rise so I think that's where its meant to be worn but just interested if thats where you are wearing it in this vid. Thanks :)
