- Salutations, Ladies and Gentlemen! Today, I'll be discussing an excellent knife from A. Wright & Sons.
This piece features the classic Spearpoint design. While some may know it as either a 'Boy's Knife' or a 'Teardrop Jack', this style of knife is one of the most iconic amongst traditional pocket knives. The simple, useful shape of the blade makes the Spearpoint a common choice for classic carry pieces.
A. Wright Spearpoint:
C70 Carbon steel Spearpoint blade and spring.
Nickel-silver bolsters.
Brass liners and pins.
Genuine Stag handles.
Made in Sheffield, England.
Overall, this piece by Arthur Wright is a stellar example of Sheffield craftsmanship. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this knife.

Beautiful knife! The imperfections in the stag give it character. Thanks for sharing!
I quite agree!
Thanks for watching.
Cheers!
I like the looks of the stag on that one. Very cool piece, buddy!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers!
My favourite AW pattern,i know for a fact they were sourcing their stag from the Scottish highlands, a few years ago i had a conversation with one of the Harrisons and he was about to set off in his van to collect a load of antlers from Kincraig in the Cairngorms 🏴
I never knew that! That's a very neat little tidbit of knowledge.
Thanks for sharing, Ian. 😃
Cheers, as always!
Absolutely lovely.
Certainly!
Cheers!
Thanks for showing us this one,. I love stag as a handle material,. Hopefully, after my self imposed knife hiatus, HH will have the AW knives back in stock,, (yes, I paused the video to have a look, lol )..
All the best my friend,, 👍
Good luck if you decide to get one, they're pretty fast sellers!
Cheers, as always!
Another beauty! I am tempted to get one now.
Do it! You won't regret it! 😁
Cheers, as always!
I was thinking the same.
Hi mate 👋
I didnt comment on the last video as I'm having a China free year. So I'm trying not to watch any videos on them. I'm just running a personal experiment 😂.
I've got a few A. Wright, before it changed hands. You can see the difference for sure. Their stag always seems to lose its lustre, but I'm sure the stag I have is stock from the old owner. It will be interesting to see how yours fares?
Hope you are doing well? Brilliant review as always. I loved seeing all those spearpoints lined up 😁.
Speak to you soon mate 👊
Hello!
I understand not wanting to watch videos on knives you wish to avoid. 😅 That's why I ignore most GEC/Jack Wolf uploads!
Pre-Harrison Wrights sounded like a bit of a hectic nightmare, although perhaps some of that is mere embellishment!
The Stag is rather bland, (to me) but the quality is certainly there, despite the handle looking aged, already!
I'm doing well, and I hope you're faring the same?
Thanks for stopping by.
Cheers, as always!
I don't have a Stag handled knife just never fancied one, Heinnie Haynes is a brilliant company to deal with I have bought many knives off them however Moonraker knives actually beat them on price for some knives, Arthur Wright for one, I don't know how delivery abroad would be from Moonraker whereas Heinnie Haynes is renowned for service and delivery. I do like a Spear point and that pattern is really good in my opinion, certainly a nice knife. 😁
Moonraker is far slower in terms of shipping, but their selection is really impressive.
I prefer Heinnie Haynes more overall, but that's just me!
Thanks for stopping by.
Cheers, as always!
@@TheKnifeRaven Oh I have nothing but good things to say about Heinnie Haynes dealt with them for many years bought nearly all my knives off them, brilliant company.
@@lewisgreenway5065 Couldn't agree more, there!
I don't know if I have a company I've bought from more than any other. If I had to guess, it would likely be Blades Canada/Warriors & Wonders.
Cheers!
Tired of the oily mess? Use furniture paste wax for long term storage. Woodworkers use it for tools and metal machine tops. I also use it for mower blades and pruning shears. It doubles as a non toxic joint lube on the shears.
I'll be sure to remember that!
Cheers!
I must agree that Arthur Wright's stag seems a little bland usually. The best stag I've seen is from Steven Cocker but good luck in getting hold of one of his knives especially as he now has a full time job and can only make his own knives in whatever spare time he has.
I've been wanting a Steven Cocker knife for a long time, but yeah, he's even harder to get ahold of than Ashley Harrison! 😅
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers, as always!
The last one is, I believe, a doctor’s knife.
Which knife are you referring to?
