Well done Rob. As a regular viewer of your videos and fellow fanatic, it’s lovely to see how your confidence has grown over last few seasons. Keep ‘em coming!
I've seen a few videos about the Tyne the last few months and i didn't realise it was so good. I'm Scottish and i've seen my fair share of nice rivers but the Tyne is a beautiful beautiful river and it makes me want to fish it one day.
lovely stretch, my gran used to live just downstream at Featherstone so have fished this part of the tyne extensively, have seen a 22 pound fish come out of the pool below the viaduct at lambley many many years ago. used to be good trout in the deep pool above the weir at featherstone as well
One day last year when I was fishing the association water below Lambley I was having my breakfast on the bridge and saw the biggest clean salmon I've ever seen I'm the Lambley bridge pool. Must have been 25 lb all day.
Well done, lovely fish and beat Fished the beat the last week of this season with a good friend, had six between us, my best 11lb where you lost yours. Did you try the pool below the bridge? My friend had four in 45 minutes there. We are already booked for late next season. Keep up the great videos.
Cheers, sounds like you had a great day. Yes I always have a cast below the bridge but haven't had a fish from there yet. I will give it a bit more attention next year.
Cracking video Rob. Definitely hard to land a fish whilst stood on those rocks without a net. Would have been touch n go without the netsman turning up. You’d have had to get into the water. It’s good fishing that area from the opposite bank down to the bridge. Nice run below the bridge as well. Great viewing as always 👍👏
That's a lovely looking beat, reminds me of the River Conwy in North Wales. Well done with the fish, it can be a struggle without a net😂 Is it mainly easy wading on that beat?
The wading isn't terrible but I wouldn't say it was a typically easy wading beat. There are a few sketchy bits but in general it should be OK for most people.
It's very hard to hook the ones that take straight downstream because they stand there so they dont turn sideways to to go back to their spot like most do when you have an angle on the fly. That means they normally hook themself in the lip in the front of the mouth and they get off pretty fast. Now that changes if someone walk in front of you or you go a 2nd trip over the spot since then thare are no fish standing there and it's a following fish that takes and turns out to go to back to it's spot. i have tried many ways for many years on the straight downstream takers and nothing seems to work so it's up to luck if it comes to the shore or not. Exept that the conditions where good and fish where landet so great stuff:)
Yes I hooked a few like that at the end of the season and they all came off. It's the one time I don't mind losing fish as like you say there isn't anything you can do about it.
Hi, yes I will attempt a tying video using a different lense on the camera. There isn't much to it but it does seem to be an effective fly for both salmon and seatrout. The brownies love it too, so much so that out of curiosity I'm going to try fishing it specifically for them one day.
Hi, I still have my boat I just haven't been out in it since I got into river fishing. I plan to use it a bit more next year but more likely on freshwater lochs than out at sea.
Rob you need to upgrade that net, and mebby have it wi you nah n again... you'll lose the fish of a lifetime, you only get one!!!! Jeez i hope you're a better baker🤣

Many thanks, one thing is have learned is that confidence is key. To catch you have to believe in the take!
@ Spot on!
Awesome video, as always. Congrats to the nice fish 👍👊
Thanks again
Brilliant well done Rob !, big water that, never go any further than your island 🙈🙈, it’s a very dangerous pool that ! 👏👏🍺🍺
Cheers, you can tell how deep it is downstream of the island by how far the line gets sucked down at the end of the swing.

The run numbers weren't great this year as far as I understand but it is still a fine salmon river with some lovely beats.
great one rob and nice catch :)
Another cracking video Rob - All the best and keep them coming Cheers James
Cheers James, will do
Cracking fish, well done.

Well done baker love your films😃

Well done Rob, wish i had half of your enthusiasm, but at 67 its starting to wane a bit 😊
Thanks, since I'm a recent convert to salmon fishing I'm just making up for lost time.

Cheers, you're right I would have been buggered if that gentleman hadn't turned up. Tbh it never occurred to me to get down into the water!
Well done, lovely water..

Hello Bob what rod do you use and what set up,your having a good time, well done.
Hi, I was using a Hardy Ultralite nsx 13'6 #8/9 with a Rio outbound scandi line and a fast sinking polyleader.
Another good session Rob. Any chance of a close up of your bakers fly?

Can I ask have you sold your boat or stopped the content? As I liked the sea fishing boat content :)
