It is not just perceived value. Other chocolates will be manufactured in India with local ingredients. These are international chocolates and they source raw materials from special farms - all that adds to the cost. In addition, these are not made in India - you have to take into consideration the foreign exchange value as well. Anything made in USA or Europe will be expensive in India. Thirdly, transportation costs also add to the price.

The economics varies based on the type of goods - for e.g. clothes are manufactured in poor countries but, the makers sell them in foreign countries for higher profit. But, there are types of products like chocolates where the prices are high because the quality of stuff used in preparation is higher quality - imported from various countries, and various other reasons.

These chocolates are really not expensive abroad. I live in north America and they can be found in Walmart here. They are pretty affordable here
I think they are also ensuring the quality as well. I mean the layers of chocolate, then packaging, the taste makes them unique.

My beloved childhood chocolate which my aunt used to bring everytime she came to India. Believe me the Ferrero Rocher we get abroad is almost twice is big as Indian one. Or atleast it used to be when I was small.
