LMAO Ryotoro doing an American accent in Japanese! The funny thing is, it's the same accent as if an American was trying to speak in Spanish lolol it's in the vowels
and when us Spanish speakers try to speak Japanese we actually sound pretty good. confirmed from a Japanese friend of mine who is always brutally honest.
Here in Italy, horse meat has always been a super common thing, both raw and cooked, I'm quite surprised it sounds like something new for so many people!
@@Hitsugix We don't eat it 'raw' per se here aswell, the most common way to eat it, it's as an air-dried salted version called "Bresaola" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bresaola long story short, it goes through a similar process as ham, hence why it's so popular.
@@DatBlockSG I remember it, though the scandal was more about not declaring the horse meat on the packaging, because people could not avoid the horse meat this way. It was more like mixing animal products into vegan food and not telling anybody.
i refuse to eat it but anyone who is getting mad about the horse meat you do realize you eat cows and chickens you dummies, how many farmers have *You* pissed off?
It’s not quite the same as eating cow, although I do see your point. Horses, especially in the UK, are loved and kept as pets. It’s a bit like eating dog and cats, it’s a bit...wrong. But hey, I’m not bothered by other people eating it in different countries; it’s apart of their culture after all.
I love how that commenter takes other people eating horses in another country instead as- they are about to lay siege to your farm to steal and eat your horses?! xDDDD
Hahahah, exactly what I thought. You don't see cow owning farmers bursting into steakhouses and angrily threatening people that if they eat his cows he'll kill them and feed them to the fish, so why in the world does that person believe that Chris wants to steal and eat his horses?
Takeshi Satoshi sounds like a very wise person, knows a lot about Kumamon and it's origin story. Sad that it is only an interview, would love to see more of him in future episodes.
During ww1, ww2 & until the 1970s horse meat was actually widely eaten in the usa (sometimes unknowingly). It was known as "the poor man's beef" & is still widely sold in the us but for dog & cat consumption
You can thank 1970s Australia for sending the USA plenty of horse mixed with a bit of rabbit packed as beef..... made plenty of money sending fake beef to the country who always order the absolute junk grade beef for their burgers which they would then load with herbs to disguise the fact it was from a cow that would have dropped dead on its own within 2 weeks.
Another great video Chris! I really love the editing and presentation of your videos, even something as simple as that transition at 2:43 I can appreciate. You need a Netflix series or something, the quality and effort put into these videos are top notch.

Weird, while it is rather rare, it's not unheard of to eat Horsemeat here in Austria. It's just not something you actively go, like "Oh yeah, let's go eat horse meat", sometimes butchers just have it and you might pick some up, usually in a form/dish I wouldn't have a clue how to translate to english though ^^
I don't understand why it's okay to eat goat, sheep, cow, pig and rabbit but not horse; just label it appropriately. (Note my Japanese partner is horrified by the idea of eating rabbit)
I understand that some people might have mixed feelings when it comes to eating horse meat, however there are many cultures that eat horse. In my country (Chile) we actually eat it in the form of barbecue or the most popular way jerky. Cheers man you’ve got an awesome channel
I didn't have a problem with the whole horse meat thing, until you gave the history of it. Man, something about eating your work animals because technology has made them and you obsolete is really tragic to me.
spenny Ox used to be work animal till tractors took over, yet we always ate beef. In America horse meat ends up in dog and cat food. Why waste horse meat entirely like that considering how horse meat is richer in iron than any other meat and has got way less fat in it?
You think that eating an animal that is normal to eat in most parts of the world made him obsolete? I could see if it was something illegal or endangered, but there isn't anything wrong with eating horses. If they are raised, cared for, and killed humanely, than horses are no different than other animals that we do the same for. Where do you draw the line on what is and isn't okay to eat? Chickens, Cows, Fish, Pigs, Horses, etc? I grew up on a horse farm and no, we never ate the horses, but I don't see anything wrong with it.
I know this was posted a year ago and you may not see this message but as far as the horse meat goes, I love horses they’re elegant beautiful creatures, but I also like how you stand your ground on what you like. They are animals and if you like to eat them that’s your prerogative you can’t live for the world. Keep up the good work and by the way I find you Hilarious most of the time I love your sarcasm.

I'm vegetarian and love horses and still don't get the twisted logic of someone who'd say such a thing.
I don't believe in harming innocent defenseless plants, so I only eat meat.
@@Christian-rn1ur ROFL... your comment made my day!

Welcome to my home town, Kumamoto! Chris!!
I've been studying English with your funny videos,
and I'd been really looking forward to watching this video since I'd known this journey.
tbh, I really laughed at Ryot... TAKESHI SATOSHI's horrible
explanation about Kumamon with excellent subs,
but then I remembered the reason why you had to postpone this video:(
Anyway, thank you for mentioning about the earthquake.
It was terrible experience but the disaster made Kumamoto castle special, just like you described.
We have not only volcano and historical structures but also beautiful sea and islands(Amakusa).
I hope you guys to come Kumamoto too.
tnks!!!!
tosh Thank you for sharing! You’re English is really great! Keep up the great work!
Your English is excellent :)
Keep on studying! Your English is amazing!
"he's also quite hot"
Chris is a furry, confirmed
"Don't touch him on a sunny day" It's obvious that Chris has been burned before...
Those small dome homes remind me of Goku and Chi-Chi's house in Dragon Ball Z.
me too, or something bulma would would live in.
Or West City
yay I'm not the only one who thought that too ^_^
Yeah, the capsule houses from DB
@@FusionKush it may not be a coincidence that Kumamoto is on the west most part of Japan then, it might be insparation
Ryotoro's scene literally was so funny! speaking in a foreign accent and the captions got me wheezing lmao!
They look like homes in DragonBall Z.
But those have multiple rooms
Capsule Corp earning it's money
@@Mew178 I was thinking the same lol
What if their houses can also be turned into capsules? Japan really is living in the future.
Capsule Corp Village!

It looks more like dragon Ball houses, than Smurfs

Planet Namek houses
I can't unsee it now!
Darn you, I said the same thing, lol!
Sort of reminds me of the hobbits' burrows

Excellent job Ryotaro, and the subbing is perfect XD
Why do I feel like Chris had him at gun-point while saying that?
LMAO Ryotoro doing an American accent in Japanese! The funny thing is, it's the same accent as if an American was trying to speak in Spanish lolol it's in the vowels
Not only the vowels, the consonants as well. Like the R
It's almost like both accents are imitating the same linguistic group
Who is Ryotoro
and when us Spanish speakers try to speak Japanese we actually sound pretty good. confirmed from a Japanese friend of mine who is always brutally honest.
@@athfdrizzle of course, we share the same syllables. Still there are few that we need to learn like shi し、tsu つ、za ざ that do not exist in spanish
Here in Italy, horse meat has always been a super common thing, both raw and cooked, I'm quite surprised it sounds like something new for so many people!
yea wait do you live here
It's also eaten in Germany, but I don't really like it. It's too sweet for my taste. We also don't eat it raw.
@@Hitsugix We don't eat it 'raw' per se here aswell, the most common way to eat it, it's as an air-dried salted version called "Bresaola" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bresaola long story short, it goes through a similar process as ham, hence why it's so popular.
@@Hitsugix Remember
the Lasagne

@@DatBlockSG I remember it, though the scandal was more about not declaring the horse meat on the packaging, because people could not avoid the horse meat this way. It was more like mixing animal products into vegan food and not telling anybody.
i refuse to eat it but anyone who is getting mad about the horse meat you do realize you eat cows and chickens you dummies, how many farmers have *You* pissed off?
@@justinbest9429 not everyone is ignorant! Stop being so chicken
Merby Kribmath : Nice one
I would eat your poonani raw and you would love it.

Archie vs Cancer Exactly, I personally love horses but just as many other things, eating horses is apart of a large culture of people.
Kumamon wa sugoi desu ne?
Kumamon ga daisuki desu!
I´m laughing so hard XD
Totally not what he said if you read the subtitles.
It's properly subtitled at the very end
Who was that again
Kumamon wa kumamoto kara kimashita!

I laughed, but not furlong
Stop horsing around

He just took that joke and rode with it.
Ryotaro sounded like a Japanese Christopher Walken
I love how that commenter takes other people eating horses in another country instead as- they are about to lay siege to your farm to steal and eat your horses?! xDDDD
Hahahah, exactly what I thought. You don't see cow owning farmers bursting into steakhouses and angrily threatening people that if they eat his cows he'll kill them and feed them to the fish, so why in the world does that person believe that Chris wants to steal and eat his horses?
Japan: *eats horse meat*
Tescos: "It's free real estate"
"it's not rery surprise that I eat it" - Chris
Oh geez, his Engrish getting really good now.

Ryotaro's cameo gave me PTSD flashbacks of my intensive Japanese classes
Takeshi Satoshi sounds like a very wise person, knows a lot about Kumamon and it's origin story. Sad that it is only an interview, would love to see more of him in future episodes.

6:37 Japanese language is so rich and able to express complex ideas in a couple of words. くまモンが大好き!
Until you really put くまモンが大好き into translator and found out he says totally different things
That sentence itself explains the effect of kumamon in the global economy
60-80% of Japanese words are of Chinese origin. They hate that.
@@asherouk7308 😂😊😘
くまモンはすごいですね
yea you can find similar ways of how they use words in other Asian countries
During ww1, ww2 & until the 1970s horse meat was actually widely eaten in the usa (sometimes unknowingly). It was known as "the poor man's beef" & is still widely sold in the us but for dog & cat consumption
You can thank 1970s Australia for sending the USA plenty of horse mixed with a bit of rabbit packed as beef..... made plenty of money sending fake beef to the country who always order the absolute junk grade beef for their burgers which they would then load with herbs to disguise the fact it was from a cow that would have dropped dead on its own within 2 weeks.
omg!!i died watching ryotaro speaking japanese in foreign accent!!! hahah i kept rewinding to that clip!
That kind of wiggled my brain.
Meanwhile at Fukuoka... Ellen can be found wandering around, still searching for the airport which was vaguely pointed out by her rude tour guide...
I just love the 'misinterpretation' of Ryotaro's Kumamon speech LOL
I just watched the first 27 videos of this playlist over the day while sipping about 5+ liters of tee. It was one of the best days since a long time.
I instantly knew there was a Ryotaro clip coming up when he said "expert"
Another great video Chris! I really love the editing and presentation of your videos, even something as simple as that transition at 2:43 I can appreciate. You need a Netflix series or something, the quality and effort put into these videos are top notch.
been waiting for the new episode longer than it takes for Chris to travel across japan.
Hahaha i love the subtitles for Ryotaro's cameo compared to what he actually is saying in his completely native sounding Japanese. Good work there. haha.
Gotta say, so much volcano

Weird, while it is rather rare, it's not unheard of to eat Horsemeat here in Austria. It's just not something you actively go, like "Oh yeah, let's go eat horse meat", sometimes butchers just have it and you might pick some up, usually in a form/dish I wouldn't have a clue how to translate to english though ^^
I don't understand why it's okay to eat goat, sheep, cow, pig and rabbit but not horse; just label it appropriately. (Note my Japanese partner is horrified by the idea of eating rabbit)
Ryotaro's bad foreign accent is probably one of my favorite things on this channel now.
I understand that some people might have mixed feelings when it comes to eating horse meat, however there are many cultures that eat horse. In my country (Chile) we actually eat it in the form of barbecue or the most popular way jerky. Cheers man you’ve got an awesome channel
That intro tune gives me goosebumps every time! 😍 Early notification squad where ya at?! 🤗
They're just making full use of them. Why let them die and rot and ultimately useless?
You think that eating an animal that is normal to eat in most parts of the world made him obsolete? I could see if it was something illegal or endangered, but there isn't anything wrong with eating horses. If they are raised, cared for, and killed humanely, than horses are no different than other animals that we do the same for. Where do you draw the line on what is and isn't okay to eat? Chickens, Cows, Fish, Pigs, Horses, etc? I grew up on a horse farm and no, we never ate the horses, but I don't see anything wrong with it.
The steppe tribes ate them all the time when they were their most important work animal.
