  • Skin grafts can get tricky with different locations, sizes, and patterns. Here I break down some of the basics for professional coding for skin grafts and go over a sample operative note.

      Glad it was helpful and I so appreciate the feedback. Sometimes when you're so close to the subject already it's hard to figure out how to explain it to others that don't have the same experience.

    Hii!!! Your CPC review videos are everything I could ever ask for as I complete the last few days of studying before my exam.
    Quick question: What is proper sequencing for skin graft cpt codes: 1. Surgical Preparation, 2. Skin Graft, 3.Icd-10-cm code or Vice versa 1.Skin graft, 2. surgical prep, etc.....Thank you so so much for everything!!

    I thought the video lesson was informative. I would have liked to see how and where you looked up the specific codes. I also would like to see a video presented on NCCI site you plugged the codes into see if the wound vac was separate or bundled. Thank you.

    I just found your channel and really love it. Loved this graft video. It was extremely helpful. Can you also teach us about adjacent tissue transfers? Also which software did you use for ncci bundling edits?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah, Adjacent tissue transfers. I'm all too familiar with coding for those, I will definitely add it onto the list.
      If I recall, in this video I used the AAPC Coder program to check for bundling.

    Victoria: Where is the spot to click on that you mentioned "down below" to download a booklet about coding grafts/plastic surgery items? I could not find it. Thanks. Mike

    Hi Victoria, I have a question regarding the ICD-10 code. You only coded for the laceration, so my question is would you also code the fracture and use an external cause code for the accident?

    I appreciate your channel. What do you look for to report 15002? I know your providers said that there was no difference between that and debridement, in my experience, it has been different. What do you look for when deciding to use 15002 vs debridement?

    Regarding Allograft placement 25sqcm over the amniotic membrane over the plate to decrease tendon adhesions, would the allograft (15275) be billable in this case?

    Hi Victoria, I have a question! When do we use the CPT code and ICD-10 PCS code?

  • @ashbash421
    @ashbash421 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How come we didn’t apply the HCPCs modifier for left or right on the CPT code?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! In the context of the skin graft coding discussed in the video, the HCPCS Level II modifiers for left (LT) or right (RT) are typically not applied to the CPT codes for skin grafts. This is because the CPT codes for skin grafts are generally more focused on the type, size, and location of the graft rather than the laterality. However, it's always important to follow the specific documentation and coding guidelines for each case, as there might be instances where laterality modifiers are necessary based on the payer's requirements or specific clinical scenarios. Always ensure to check the latest coding guidelines and payer policies for accurate coding.

    question on the autograft site "STSG"- site was thigh but you coded 15120 for foot. Should it have been 15100. The wound was foot but graft was from thigh. Thank you for your amazing videos (im a noob and easily confused) Best always

    • @peostabackman

      rewatched video again and heard you say the coding for the graft is where the wound is/where it is going. doesn't make sense but it is what it is. TY

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, it gets coded by the recipient site and recipient location. Those skin codes will drive you batty!
