@@dimitrisjimmygtheodorou8478 Of Wolf And Man was only used once as an opening song. Ever. Wherever I May Roam only twice. Ever. Both of which on this tour. The rest of the shows were either Enter Sandman as the opening song or Creeping Death from late 1992 onwards.
It was definitely not common for Of Wolf And Man to be the 1st song during a show because this is literally the only time that it ever happened.

This is the Metallica I grew up on.This band was a machine back in those days. Uncompromising and unapologetic, in your face metal and Jason was an integral part of that. He is so sorely missed nowadays. They haven’t been worth a damn since he left. Soft and lame as hell. Maybe it’s because they’re older now, but it’s nowhere near the band in this video.

Yes they’re missing the power of his backing vocals, which Rob has gotten better on. But with Rob the band hasn’t sounded that good, tight energetic in a long time. Rob is just that much better of a bassist. He makes the band play better.

My back would be totally jacked from having one of those explorers or LPs slung over my shoulder for hours (I own one of the EXPs James has, they're heavy af, Kirk's LPs are NOT light either), arms would be exhausted and hands cramped up.

For 3 straight years they toured non-stop on this album. Unfortunately (and also ironically since I'm using it) that the internet has destroyed the music industry. At least as far as live performances go. Now in order to see your favorite band, you most likely have to go to a festival like Coachella or Bonnaroo and its gonna have 30 other bands on the bill.
Gone are the days when a band could headline a tour with one other act and an opener and still have it be profitable. And sadly the chances of finding who you want without waiting forever has diminished.

It's amazing to listen to them 30 plus years ago, as opposed to more recent concerts. Lars was a beast back then (I know, saw them in Phoenix on December, 4th, 1988 -Queensryche opened for them). I know he was mainly the brains behind Metallica. He had the idea for the band before there was a band, he got a spot on a metal comp before there was a band or a song. He had the connections. Without him, Metallica wouldn't be what it is today, for good or ill. However, his drumming has seriously lagged in the past roughly 20 years. When they were touring for "RtL", "MoP" (both with Cliff, then Jason), then "AJfA" and "TBA", he was on FIRE when he played. Yeah, he made mistakes but even the best drummers do. He just seemed to care more about his playing. It seems to me, after this album and tour, when they released "Load" and "ReLoaded", his playing changed. You could see it and hear it. I know the guy was playing 2-3 hours plus a night, on top of touring, interviews, helping management do what needed to be done, and so forth but it's like after the touring for "TBA" was done, and they reconvened for "Load/ReLoaded", he just didn't have the effort, or feel, in his playing. I'm not saying he was horrible back then, even in the mid/late 90s but especially after Jason left, he's just become a shadow of his former self as far drumming goes. As I mentioned, I know he was more than Metallica's drummer and I also understand he's getting older (aren't we all) but at some point, just call it quits. It shows in his playing now. He just seems far more unconcerned.

The black album marks the end of Metallica for me personally. I tolerated Load and Reload, but after the black album, it just wasn't the same. Jason was the true soul and the power behind Metallica.
After I've learned why Jason left, I lost whatever respect I had for the rest of them. Now, what's left are good memories of an awesome time in the 80s and 90s.

You know they are allowed to make their own choices right ? God forbid a band do what they feel is best for them . They dont deserve one shred of the hate they get . As if they should keep your prefrences and expectations at the forefront of everything they do . Lol come on man. Its like people with this outlook still find a way to come to everything metallica releases just to say the old stuff is better and that they dont like metallica anymore lol its really weird . As if all old metallica songs are the end all be all to metal for some people . Good lord i dont like the newer stuff as much either but i still tip my hat and respect them as human beings , leaving my prefrences out because thats how i would want to be treated if i were in their shoes .
