One of the saddest theme in video games ever... so much of this game is so powerful. Yasunori Mitsuda is a genius, and your rendition is absolutely beautiful, as always.
Yeah I finished FFV last night for the first time and I was amazed at the voicing that Uematsu was able to use around the main theme. Brilliant composers can do brilliant things!
@@KaraComparetto FFV songs incoming? FF5 is the underrated Final Fantasy game imho... If you like slowly gaining your power and exerting it it's a great game. But for ppl only living for the quick trip to the end-game not really a satisfying experience... "World Unknown" (Or Lands Unkown?) is my favorite song of FF5 (At least I think it's that one) with many close second. Then there's some real catchy themes like the pirate's theme. Awesome playing on that one. Cheers !
Goosebumps at 0:48... it's incredible how most of your CT renditions are very close to the original tracks with only 3 instruments. You're a marshmallow, Kara (had to quote Cyrus 😂)
Close to the top when it comes to sad themes in video games for me. Followed by The Revealed Truth in Final Fantasy X, and Forever Rachel in Final Fantasy VI.
Thank you Kara, just like so many people out there, I've been living through a really terrible, exhausting chain of events. Without seeing the infamous "light at the end of the tunnel", yet, ven at my saddest moments, your beautiful, mesmerizing interpretations bring me back to childhood's joy, however briefly.
@@KaraComparetto Thank you for bringing this one back into my mind. It prompted me to find some piano sheet music for it (by Starsoarer, I think it was what you used the last time you played) and start learning. I have about the first 30 seconds down, and boy is it just a enjoyable, emotional, feels piece. So easy to just connect into it and let it touch you. Really looking forward to getting into meat of it later today.
My fav theme from the game : ) To me this theme is all about what it's like to fail or be wronged by someone, only to then find the strength to move onto bigger and better things in life : ) A vibe we all struggle with to a degree. Keep up the great work Kara!
This piece always felt more pensive than mournful, kind of setting a tone for events that need to be experienced and walked through rather than sudden trauma that needed to be fought. Once again, your choice of instrument shines! Thanks for making this album; it's a new favorite of mine, and I expect of thousands of others as well.
I agree, this song is masterfully written and executed since it is not as mournful as it would seem but more pensive as you pointed. The moment in the game it is used shows the nuanced tone of the game : sad things happen but take the time to think about what to do next since in its core the game has positivity and inner strength. This is the kind of things that makes me love the game and its music.
Oh no.. I am so so sorry for your loss. I have been through that and it’s so painful. All you can do is keep her in your heart moment by moment, but soon the sadness will turn into lovely memories, I promise ❤️
Excellent work, Kara. Very good. Chrono Trigger probably has the greatest soundtrack out of all video games. A lot of nostalgia, but also a lot of hope. Even the melancholy tracks (like this one) make me hopeful for the future. So great and soothing to listen to. Thanks again, Kara.
I'll say this, it's one of only a handful of games where _every single track_ is just excellent and relatively consistent in quality. Usually it's half, at most.
@@KaraComparetto I've only heard a little of it, so far most of what I like is those nostalgic instruments, the tunes themselves are just okay. Of course I know Sephiroth's theme and that is just a jam.
Damn your videos get better every year. I really dig the way you manage to not only nail the piece, bring me back to the game, but bring out so much emotion. It really shows how much you love this game and soundtrack. I do the same thing with my head when I play, but not nearly as good! You put a ton of effort into each one of your videos, and it really shows. Thanks Kara, your one of the best!
Thank you! I really wanted to go for an authentic feel with these covers, trying to make the organ sound like the OST and only using notes from the original version. I think that helps it bring the nostalgia back for so many!
I wish I could do that someday! I'd either need someone to play the harpsichord and piano for me while I play the organ, or I'd have to be in three places at once :P
At 1:14 the second rendition of the refrain hits super hard after the repeat, it immediately brought me to the Theme of Sorrow from FFIV which is a more simplistic/shorter piece, (you should totally do a rendition!) but evokes an immediate feeling of loss / sadness /hollowness at a sudden death of close friends. In Chrono trigger this theme is used for loss of characters, but also struck me the most in the global sense of sadness in 2300 AD , the breakdown of society, and hunger, and overall hopelessness... Music is a hell of a drug!
My second favorite tied with Corridors of Time and topped by Battle with Magus, I've been using this for sleep and relaxation since 2017 and now just listening to this gets me sleepy XD Ty Kara for another masterpiece, I'mma go to sleep now
From the Bottom of Night, this goes straight to the bottom of my heart -- it's a truly beautiful piece. I can't help it, but I suddenly felt reminded of "Will's Dream" from the Illusion of Gaia soundtrack by Yasuhiro Kawasaki... If you're looking for follow-up projects in this style (besides Secret/Trials of Mana which I already mentioned somewhere...I think), IoG could be a worthy candidate.
I started to play Illusion of Gaia on a live discord stream, but I think I got distracted and didn't get to play much of it, but I'd love to go back and play it! I play a lot of the music on my live streams :)
