Nice catch of this NS train waiting to take off! Nothing like the sound of an EMD that's been maintained and fine tuned of the years. Then to meet an awesome Engineer like this one and throw you a water! This is what makes railfanning and the effort all worth it. Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA and a new subscriber of your channel!
I live in Battle Creek Mich but I use to live Downriver and worked for Airborne Freight Express for 32 year's Dearborn area was one of my last routes before I retired in 1998 no that area very well.
why do EMD engines sound so powerful and GE engines sound like poo
That’s just reality! GE Junk.
@@CSXNick1003 I agree. Love those old EMD's!
2 cycle vs a 4 cycle ge is more energy effective then emd
@@swampysanta5445 but ge engines sound like shit
@@MrFella6969 emd does sound way better then ge. i always loved ge engines they don't sound like they run fast enough to even to stay running lol.
EMD locomotives were the locos of my childhood. Just a classic look and sound!
That sound is music to my ears! It’s good to see a friendly engineer!
Never, ever get tried of that EMD sound. Beautiful man, just beautiful.
Thanks it was perfect timing
Nothing beats the rumble of a 16-645E3. Love the SD40-2. Glad to see a friendly engineer as well.
I love that NS is keeping these old EMD's maintained in great shape.
They are retiring them in mass
Oh I love the sound of those EMD locomotives. I hope they stay in service for many more years.
Excellent sounding Leslie RS3L horn on that SD40-2 ...
The engineer remains me of someone who works with Norfolk southern as the train engineer
That's because he IS somebody who works with Norfolk Southern as a train engineer!
Dang those engines sound great!
That was totally cool of the engineer to throw you a water like that!
Its like the heavenly music to railfan ears is hear an amazing emd sd40-2 never gets old
Yes, I 100% agree with that!

Thank you!!! EMD over GE any day!!!
Great video! That EMD sound never gets old. It’s so peaceful, I could fall asleep to it.
Engineer alone made the video worth watching. Great catch too.
Excellent audio! EMD for the win!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed 😃
Nice vid ... Love them old SD40-2's ... Thx ...
No problem
You guys are the greatest! Much Love & Respect!! Gypsy Soul
I wish I had been an engineer for my career instead of the horrible job I have.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence!
Awesome catch catching this NS friendly crew with my favorite horn Leslie RS3L
With a bounes of a water bottle through
What an environment friendly machine ! No black smoke billowing into the atmosphere. Very rare for a diesel ,maybe it's the fuel they are using.😊
Not rare at all and nothing to do with the fuel. Well maintained engines.
@@woods840 thx for taking the time to tell me that.😉

Let the EMD's roar
I am a GE fan but EMD does sound good when it’s throttling up.
At my work every Tuesday and Thursday I get to hear old GE U28B's work hard
The lead locomotive has two different type number boards pretty cool
That is called the grind notch
man i love thes units there were best we had sd40s on the clinchfield back in the 70s 80s
A SD40 and SD40-2 handle different....The SD40-2 pulls better but then again the best ones i ran were SD40A models....
Norfolk southern road maintenance is the best in the business. Great video!
Thank You!
The whole house is shaking!
Thats B25!!! Awesome
Awesome video 👏
And belive me the locos feel it
Haha! I bet they do for their age.
Hi very nice what yard is this crew from
I believe the NS yard in Dearborn. I was at the Henry Ford Museum before I took the video and didn’t have much time to explore.
There is no plow on that front unit I believe it was used for yard service at one time
Looks like the Norfolk southern train engineer throw something to you
It was a water bottle
Have you caught Norfolk southern locomotive 5642
Not to my knowledge, no. Why might you ask?
@@CSXNick1003 because I saw it in person in tucloosa Alabama

He definitely did not take off in notch 8. Good video though!
Thanks
If he tries to take off in notch 8, he'll probably pull the train apart.
Def not notch 8 that was maybe a notch 6 right towards the end.
Definitely not notch 8 😕
