What about "What if Castille and Aragon didn't exist?" Similar to the Ottomans not existing, since they have a lot of nations in Iberia (Asturias, Valencia, Leon, Catalonia, and Majorca) Also, it frees Naples, Sardinia, and Sicily at the start, so that might make Italy a bit different.
I heard that Mohamed traveled before finding Islam and almost became Buddhist. So what if Mohamed converted to Buddhism? I know it sounds crazy, but Buddhist middle east would be pretty interesting.
Byzantium really living up the the purple phenix in this game Almost Dies has a comeback actually dies gets brought back dies again gets brought back etc.
It's curious how out of all medium-sized nations, in my experience Ottos dosn't seem to have any kind of 'balanced' game path. As in, other comparable nations, such as Muscovy, France, Timurids and so on, CAN suffer some drawbacks, maybe even loose half of their territory yet still stabilize at some point and have a comeback. That's not the case with the Ottomans. In my experience they either steamroll everyone or get crushed into non-existence/OPM status.
@@TheRedHawk Honestly, it makes sense from a historical perspective. The Ottomans were actually quite vulnerable in the early to mid 15th century. The rapid nature of the Ottoman conquest meant one defeat could've easily spelt the end to Ottoman rule in the Balkans and Ottoman rule in Anatolia wasn't nearly so secure as one would think, as Timur proved early in the century. Had the West gotten that one victory in either the Nicopolis (1396) or Varna Crusade, the Ottoman dream of a Balkan empire would've been ended fairly quickly.

it could be much more debateable if Ottomans didnt lost all their provinces in balkans but poland still had their PUs. It was obvious that those minor Balkan nations that break out from Ottomans will be killed early by stronger nations like PLC and Venetians .
I was surprised byt the comeback of italian plutocracy, at some point Genoa was 2-3 provinces left and Venice had their capital, Crete and two other provinces in Italy.
There's actually a mod about this, but Byzantium is smaller because most of its territory was made into Crusader States, such as Adrianople and Macedonia
A thing is to consider is that if Constantinople hadn't have fallen, the Renaissance wouldn't have happen as it did, since many of the scholars who arrived to Italy did so to escape the Ottoman rule
I've always been interested in an alternate "what if the Ottomans lost at Varna?" mod, but this one really feels like a "remove kebab" kinda mod to me tbh. Really, I'm not too sure much would be different on the map if the Ottomans lost, which might be a bold claim depending on how you look at it For one, by EU4 logic, the Ottomans would still have cores on all of that land they started with in our timeline. On top of that, giving back all of that land that they've held onto since before most everyone in that battle was born would be very unlikely, imo. The personal union between Poland and Hungary only was dissolved because the king of Poland straight up died in the battle, it wasn't necessarily a term of the peace, thus why Poland starts off in the interregnum, which could be debated on whether or not could have still happened in this alternate timeline. There's two real scenarios in my mind in which the Christian forces could have won, either just straight up being superior in battle, or following our timeline until after the battle. In our timeline, the Sultan didn't realize he had even won the battle until 3 days after it ended due to the heavy casualties he suffered. It's possible that he could have turned back and abandoned the war all together and accepted defeat despite not really losing, which has happened in history. In this scenario, the union between Poland and Hungary would still be severed due to the king dying, but now the Ottomans may be more hesitant to expand as hard into Europe as they did if they reckon the Europeans could at least scare the Sultan into running away despite, in hindsight, the Ottoman forces still kinda kicking some ass. If any territorial changes were to be had, I'd imagine *maybe* Bulgaria would become an independent state once again, but how big this revived Bulgarian state would be could be massively up to interpretation and debate. However, an Ottoman defeat at Varna could definitely be used by the Christians as an anti-Ottoman rallying point, and maybe create a revived interest in pushing them out of Europe over the coming decades. Or maybe not, maybe it would just open up the doors for the Venetians and Balkan nations to start reconquering some land. Or maybe not. It's hard to tell what could have happened after Varna, but really I'm not too sure much would be super super different if the Christians won it, other than maybe, assuming the Polish king didn't die, Poland keeps its unions over its neighbors.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a video on a "What if the Nicopolis Crusade (1396) had been won by the Crusaders?" While the initial peace afterward would've been similar, there would've been almost guaranteed a follow up crusade for Anatolia before game start and the Romans would've naturally received most of the winnings there (with the promise of a church reunion). Success begets success.
@@TheRedHawk IIRC you didn't give them the Elective Monarchy, did you? That would actually counter they strength really hard, as they get the Elective by taking the PU in-game.
This was pretty nice, though to be fair it went about as expected with super-polska. Here's an idea I think could be interesting: What if China fell and Rome survived? Since IRL both of them were quite similar in their role and dominance of the region, the difference being that Rome fell and China managed to survive, so what if instead Rome managed to survive well and good while China fell apart completely, with the north (this universe's version of the "West Roman Empire") getting hella mongolized, manchurized and alla that while Iunno, Maybe South China remains as the "Byzantium" of this timeline or in South China is the remnants of China (would be kinda funny if to mimic how Byzantium wasn't actually true romans but greek romans, you put this Chinese byzantium somewhere like Vietnam or hell, maybe not put it in the south in the end at all and instead put it in the north more around the Korea or even Japan region). In the meantime, obviously, Rome would be completely unified from the beginning but be surrounded by hordes to the north while China would be more feudal and ish (could be interesting to see a east-asian american if nothing else)
