    I re mapped my 2021 Carrera ... stage 1 APR tune ... what really helped the tune ( and sound ) was a set of BMC air filters .... big difference.

    I am guessing your Porsche Extended Warranty would become null and void?

    • @RealEstateChris56
      @RealEstateChris56 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably not....but depends on Porsche's guidelines, I suppose. I tuned my BMW 440i and several other upgrades...warranty is still good to go for 4 more years.

    • @nighthawk0077

      @@RealEstateChris56 They will void your warrantly with a simple muffler upgrade, nevermind a full ecu remap that pushes the turbos way beyond oem boost levels. I suggest you doublecheck that with BMW. Dealerships are notorious for voiding your warrantly when they are faced with actually doing any work or repairs to modded vehicles.

    • @rebelranter
      @rebelranter 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The dealer software will immediately identify the remap, in fact it will identify it even after removal. I’ve seen it first hand with BMW, I presume it is the same with VAG cars, including Porsche too. Still, outside warranty a remap would be good.

    Id would have like to have seen some actuall stats for 0-60 , but more importantly 0-125 and in gear performance
    Just saying it’s faster doesn’t really qualify anything as to the point of the remap if it can’t be measured accurately

      It will def put extra strain on your engine. My BMW 135i had a high pressure fuel valve go out a couple months after mapping it.

    • @gaycha6589
      @gaycha6589 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think its relative to how much time the engine spends on full boost in its duty cycle ie how hard it is regularly driven. In the case of a 991 on the road, I think the duty cyle would be light, given the performance. I mapped my Golf R 75 to 380hp at 5000 miles and it has never missed a beat or throw a fault code. But it is always a risk/consideration.

    The thing is, more than 70% of all Porsche's ever built are still on the road. The 911 is a classic sports car that will have decades of life. remapping the car will sound like a great idea when buying one 2nd hand right now, but the longer you own the car, the more you'll realise it was a mistake. The car was already fast enough. Adding more power will affect the drivability, balance, durability and reliability. It'll be faster, but you're not winning drag races against fast Teslas, so might as well keep the experience pure.

    • @RPMTechnikGB
      @RPMTechnikGB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting point Don, the beauty is if it is your own car, you can do as you wish. Its great to see people enjoying their Porsches in the way they want = standard or modified! Thank you for watching.

    • @mikaelgaspar9547
      @mikaelgaspar9547 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@RPMTechnikGB Yes, if its your car you can do has you wish and then pass the timing bomb to the next owner without telling him. Be sure to put it stock before selling just so the "lucky" guy who buys it thinks its a gem. He will look at the odometer and think: "Only this mileage?! Awesome! The engine shouldn't have any wear at all." Also during the selling process affirm multiple times that the car is totally stock, especially when it comes the time of dealing the price.

    • @clu4u
      @clu4u 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@mikaelgaspar9547Oh stop with the vanity, a second hand car has to be inspected carefully, a remap is no worse than taking it to the track and beating the snot out of it. Full power, full brake, repeatedly. I’ll take a remapped car any day.

    • @mikaelgaspar9547
      @mikaelgaspar9547 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@clu4u The car was prepared to be used stock. If you up the boost you will put everything under more stress, especially if you up it in a considerable way. The wear will be much greater and you will have the risk of damaging the engine and other components. Usually this cars are well used and some even abused, we are talking about sports cars. Most people don't take in consideration if the car has a remap or not, they just use it has they were intended to be used and some even in a way they were not. Plus owners which modify their cars usually are more careless, they abuse them alot more. You can really see it because they take the risk of modify them and damaging them, while most people who keep them stock don't want to take such a risk.
