I just watched Harris Sultan's video, "Why did Nuriyah tweet this?", regarding the buzz caused by Nuriyah's tweet. Here's a copy-paste of the comment I just posted there: < Why did Nuriyah tweet this? Because she wanted to. She felt like it that day. Big deal. Do men ask other men "Why did you tweet this, bro? I think maybe you went too far."?? No. There ya go. I think for a lot of people, a girl is supposed to never offend anyone, never overstep the line, never show anger over injustice in society, even if she is a social activist. That's silly. A human brain is a human brain. What I am saying is, 1) I understand that her photo was a direct response to A Tate's unfounded defiant attitude, and honestly, compared to other people posting really vulgar or violent things, hers was classy, it was a cute doggie looking so happy while touching the Quran that, if you had told me it was a pro-Islamic photo I would have believed it. and 2) If it had been a man, an ex Muslim who people are used to being polite and consciously trying never to offend anyone, like for example the "Friendly Ex Muslim" whose channel I love and recommend to all Muslims and Ex-Muslims alike, because of his polite, respectful tone that I truly admire, would anyone of the ex Muslims who follow him dare to criticize him and tell him "I didn't expect this from you"?? Ask yourselves, and please be honest. I think you know it, you would have respected the "bro code" and you wouldn't have said anything. Don't say anything to Nuriyah then. >
i think it's for attention. I mean it does not bother me but obviously it gets a reaction from some people. And social media is all about going viral. It probably gained her a lot of new fans. I still like watching her, I don't agree with everything she does, but she makes a lot of valid points for sure
We must be free to speak everything except that for which WE have ALREADY agreed is not allowed (like yell 'fire' in a packed cinema, we have already agreed it's not allowed, it is not a free speech issue anymore). If in doubt we err on the side of freedom, and fight for it and normalise dissent. No exceptions for Islam, or any politicians, or King Charles, or anyone. Tough luck.

Ibn Al-Mughaffal reported: ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ فِي كَلْبِ الصَّيْدِ وَكَلْبِ الْغَنَمِ The Prophet granted concession for the use of dogs for hunting and herding. Source: Sahih Muslim 280, Grade: Sahih Once a man suffered from thirst while he was walking on a journey. When he found a well, he climbed down into it and drank from it. Then he came out and saw a dog lolling its tongue from thirst and licking the ground. The man said: This dog has suffered thirst just as I have suffered from it. So he climbed down into the well, filled his shoe with water, and caught it in his mouth as he climbed up. Then he gave the dog a drink. Allah appreciated this deed and so He forgave him. It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, is there a reward for charity even for the animals?” The Prophet said: فِي كُلِّ كَبِدٍ رَطْبَةٍ أَجْرٌ In every living being there is a reward for charity.
