Very nice discussion and thanks Nick for adding the photos, lots of examples of results! Very impressed with everyone's application results.
My pleasure!
Thanks for the great content Nick and Yvan. Really appreciate it guys
Thanks for watching!
I am SO looking forward to this! I have done the 5-3 stack so far, and I am very pleased!
Excellent!
Thanks for the in depth explanation as always!
Thank you.
The 8/3 stack is awesome. I prefoam my wife’s car and coating repels it off. Washes itself. So cool.
I can only imagine what the C6 product reacts
Thank you.
Ive been contemplating between the 8/3 stack and c6 hydro lite for a while now. I think this podcast has set me on the c6 hydro lite. Just have to get some paint chips and pdr done before I finish off my truck. Thank yall for the in depth explanation.
Thank you.
Watching this video this morning randomly and all of a sudden I see my car pop up in the video!! Thank you for making my day Yvan and Nick!! Still loving the C6 Hydrolite and all the products!!! I can always justify buying DIY Detail products!!
That is awesome!
Another awesome podcast guys. It was cool to see my photo in the video. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
I always use ceramic gloss as a drying aid and love the smell
Excellent
I recently redid my Ford Raptor in Magnetic Grey with c6 hydro lite. Previous coating was uk 3.0 topped with glis that was at the end of its lifespan. I was a little hesitant to drop that on a coating, but went with it anyways. If its good enough for Pans vehicle, it will be great for mine. Very happy, and turned out great. I also used diy red pad, gold pad, gold polish, and APP prior to application. My truck looks amazing after, glad I went the DIY route! Cant wait to try some more products.
Thank you.
Using Hydro lite for first time on Monday. Looking forward to the result
Thank you.!
Just as I'm about to apply some coating!
Enjoy
The hydrol lite is the best , but what makes it so good is the hydrophobic properties and the durability. The diyi 8 is second , then the diy 3. What i like about each one is no matter which one you choose you still get that glossy look and the ceramic coatings can fit each persons budget.
Thank you.
Oh yea! I used Ceramic Gloss after the Rinseless wash yesterday. Love the smell.
Good to know!
Just curious but doesn’t the remaining surfactants & polymers left on the surface interfere with the ceramic gloss from bonding properly?
It did not on mine. Ive used it like this for about 8 months now. @Greg_P611
@@stevewood5255 thanks! It’s probably just another myth out there that we have to panel prep to remove surfactants before applying protective products
It would be cool to try the glass down here in South Louisiana with hurricane season, did Gtechnique some years back i month later here came the hurricane and 60-70 mph winds with rain and it was gone
Definitely will last much longer
Yesterday the red car with the DIY 5 year coating was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you.
Awesome!
Thanks!
Great Information. What coating would be preferred on a matte or satin paint. You said not to use the 5 & 3 stack in the podcast because it will gloss up. So 8 year coating, hydro lite or C6 Hydro for matte surfaces I suppose? And for campers/RVs/ boats the DIY 8 Year coating or in the future C6 Marine?
All correct
Will be getting mist as soon as it comes to the uk, just ordered the plastic restorer
Thank you.
THE GOOD STUFF!!!
Thank you.
Need the one that is best for dusty, hot conditions, where rain is minimal. I don't think any coating is truly anti-dust unfortunately, but if you ever make one, I will be all about it.
C6 Ceramics Hydro Lite
@@diydetailofficial because of its increased ability to flex? (high content of silicon nitride, is it?)
3 year graphene, easy on and off. High gloss ✨️
They are all just as easy to apply
Your red polishing pad and c6 app are now available in my country. Is a small polishing machine (Vonroc) 125 mm, 9mm stroke suitable for application the app?
Yes
I want to try a 8, 5, 3 stack. And maybe add C6 😊
A little overkill
Any updates on a restock for your drying blankets
They are in customs after a nice ocean cruise from Korea
What ceramic coating 32:02 would I put on my soft tonneau cover? Interior Ceramic?
Correct
Hey Yvan, in the past, you said that you could coat over the metal coating with one of your paint coatings in a 4 to 12 hour window. In this one, you say to let it cure for a couple of days. Which one is correct? Or if both are correct, which one is preferred? Thank you!
The longer the better
I’m getting ready to apply the 8/3 stack but I don’t have a controlled environment to work in. During the 2hr waiting period between applying applications I’m afraid it way collect dust or pollen before applying the 3yr. What should I do if this happens?
Dust off the panels with a fluffy dry MF towel.
Yvan, because doing all the steps takes time and I don't have a garage...I plan to use C6 Hydro Lite on separate panels...on separate days. There shouldn't be any issues with doing that, correct?
Yes you can do that
I've tried 5/3 stack and 8/3 stack. I prefer the 5/3 for that gloss and it certainly has an interesting feel to it. It's almost "soft" if that makes any sense. Thanks for including my white Jeep. I just stripped the gyeon mohs evo off and put 5/3 on a few weeks ago haha.
I agree, I love the 5/3 stack too.
Thank you.
I wonder if 2 coats of the 5 year would provide more gloss than the 5/3 stack? Also I was considering Gyeon Pure Evo as it apparently has fantastic candy like gloss, which would have better gloss Gyeon Pure Evo or the 5/3 stack?
@@KostaPagoniou 1st question: I don't believe 2 coats would do you much good for 5 year but if you're only doing one vehicle and don't want to buy 5 + 3 coatings then it might be worth a shot to do 2 coats if ya want. Haven't tried so can't confirm.
2nd question: Mohs Evo was easy to apply and was gorgeous in the sun as well. Easier to apply than 5 year imo (not that 5 was super difficult either but Mohs has a bleeding effect that was easy in my conditions). Mohs also doesn't have as long of a durability (3 years on 1 coat, 4 years at 2 coats) if you care about that.
They both were amazingly glossy and slick. I couldn't say which is glossier but Mohs is a more clear "cool" candy look and if you slide your finger on the paint (if well maintained) it won't drag at all. First few washes after coating my wash pad flew off the paint.
5/3 is more of a deeper wet look and makes the clearcoat look thicker (if that makes sense) but just as smooth to touch as Mohs. Like I said tho it's slick but almost "softish" feeling. Hard to explain. I don't think you can go wrong imo. I would say depends on budget, preference for look, and durability claims. Mohs lasted 3 years on 1 coat for me in Wisconsin well maintained so id say worth the money. Can't say anything yet for diy 5/3 lasting
@@thiquelee thank you for the detailed response much appreciated. Having a white car I’m trying to maximise gloss and pop and it sounds like the 5/3 stack won’t disappoint
There's a TR-7 that actually runs? Astonishing.
And well
Is there a cheat sheet that we can download? With the basic pros for each coating? Would be great to show customers and discuss with them when choosing the coating best for them.
Not at this time. As a professional don’t have more than 3 options.
Could any of the ceramic coating from DIY be used on private aircraft? Assuming the surfaces are painted and not pure aluminum (metal then is okay?)?
Correct, but not on composite aircraft
Does the 8 year coating last as long on gelcoat (boats) compared to vehicles? My experience has been boat ceramic coatings only last 2 seasons at most
Water abrasion is what removes the coating
I am away to use the diy gold standard system tomorrow for the first time but I have the flex 3401 and I hear is not really a good machine to use to get the best out of the pads and polish , so my question is if this is the only machine I have what speed would I best use it on for doing the cutting with the gold standard wool pad then with the waffle pad ?
Speed 4-5
@@diydetailofficial perfect 😊 thank you for your reply .
Will you be shipping your da polisher to the uk ?
Does the ceramic glass coating leave any slight haze on the glass? My experience with glass coatings in the past is that they tended to leave a slight haze on the glass once applied.
No
U guys said that Mist doesnt mask the properties of the coting under it. So is cetamic gloss masking the coating under it ? Or is the besding gonan still come from the coating ?
DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss is thick enough that the beading will come from DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss.
Question about Interior Ceramic, does it actually block UV? From what I've read, exterior ceramic coatings don't actually block UV, but rather protect clear coat from oxidation, which in turn preserves the clear coat's ability to block UV.
For DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating we have a heavy load of UV blockers, and protection against oxidation.
@@diydetailofficial awesome!!
Which coating is the best for light coloured cars like white and silver?
There’s no best
@DIY Detail,
Good day, I ask, can I mix the 8 and 5 year layer, or is it not convincing, that is, there are no improvements? Will it always be 8 and 3 years, 5 and 3 years? I hope you can guide...
8/5 is not something that will give you additional performance.

Thanks you!
How’s hydrophobic of 8/3 stack? Compared to c6 lite
Close but not as good
Which one of you ceramic products is comparable or better than GTechniq EXO and Crystal Serum Light ?
All
For the everyday driver outside 365 would the 8/3 or lite be “tougher” for all the elements?
8/3 a little tougher, but C6 Ceramics Hydro Lite has better self cleaning.
@@diydetailofficial ok thanks. Vehicle will be washed 3-4x per month. Didn’t know which would hold up better to the abrasion, bugs and salt in winter
Is it possible to do an 8/5 stack or an 8/5/3 stack?
Possible yes, but there’s no need, or advantage
Whats up everbody. Happy Friday, let the education begin.
Thank you.
Which one is the glossiest? 5 year, 5+3 year, 8+3 year or hydro lite?
5/3 for pure gloss
I bought a new car and not happy with there ceramic coating from the dealer. Feels like the hood is the only part of the SUV that has beading and hydrophobics. I would like to do the 8 / 3 but what should i do to remove the Dealer ceramic. Before putting on the Stack 8 / 3.
A light polishing using The Gold Standard Polishing System
@@diydetailofficial use the red pad or yellow pad???
Is one 30ml bottle of hydro lite sufficient for a half ton truck?
Yes
Hi Yvan I had a quick question what’s the best way to remove 100% acrylic polymer latex paint off of a car
Polishing
@@diydetailofficial thank you very much for your time and replying back I greatly appreciate it
It’s our pleasure to respond to every question.
C6 Lite…does it look like 3/5/ or 8, or a stack combo?
It is glossy with amazing hydrophobic
Which is more water spot resistant the 3yr or hydro lite?
DIY Detail 3 year
@@diydetailofficial can we put 3yrs over c6 lite?!
Ok I'm curious please help me out guys, I don't have a garage I have a shed I park under. I have a new 2024 Ram power wagon 2500. I want to baby this truck but doesn't the product need to cure in a controlled environment. Long time no talk to Nick.
No need to worry about that. DIY and C6 Ceramics coatings are ready to drive/get wet in an hour
@@diydetailofficial awsome, if you noticed I mentioned this is a new vehicle with 500 miles on it. Do you take questions personally or do I need to list them here. I just want to make sure I do all the steps correctly. Thank you for your help.
Can I coat car (stack) with your coating outside?
Yes
Is the diy detail 5 yr coating more glossy than the c6 hydro lite?
On par
Thank you
Will you be coming out with a diamomd gloss lite?
Possibly
@@diydetailofficial can't wait.
Can you put a coating on ppf film
Yes
So do I understand correctly that applying Ceramic Gloss etc. on top of a coating is a bad idea because then you get the characteristics of Ceramic Gloss rather than the underlying coating?
Depends on the coating
@@diydetailofficial I'd look to see more of a deep dive into the chemistry of this and in what situations "toppers" are beneficial.
@@Burtanniawhy should that make a difference, either way you have a coating on your paint to protect it. Once there ceramic gloss is gone then you still have your coating, it's a win win. Just use it and don't over think it. Or wash with a rinseless wash or use rinseless wash as your drying aid. Slightly higher rinseless wash content then you'd use to wash since you already have water on your paint and just dry it. It's only a car, and for most of us, it's daily driven
