    Well done for sticking with it and continuing to record when things went wrong. I make YT videos too so I know how tempting it is to set the camera sown at times like that. Seeing you had an issue and how you solved it is much more helpful.
    BTW I'm going through your videos at the minute to pick up tips on the Solax inverter as I have only today got it going. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi, In the event of a network failure, it automatically switches to backup and I use this output to power all the appliances in the house. I don't have separate backup appliances. Basically, from March to October, I am running island mode.
    Just the whole house is on the same distribution as when it is powered from the grid. I have 2x10kW Solax G3 + 35kWh battery in parallel mode.

      My inverter worked like that before I installed my Home Assistant to the inverter after that, I seems to have those issues with it discharge current not been set up correctly in an event of a power outage. Without the micro controller, it works just perfect so I will see what I come up with. Thank you so much for your comment.😃

    I know the feeling, it was a startling situation, but in the end, persistence is an admirable value here. I am not up to speed on Solax inverters, but a UPS battery backup might work for your microcontroller, so it would not lose the communication to the inverter during transfer. Congratullations!

      Thank you so much and I will absolutely try with a backup battery to my micro computer, but then I also have to see if the automation are there for it so it actually send that information to the inverter when the grid fails. Let’s see about that later, thank you so much for your comment.😊

    SOLAX touch switches : We have an old Miele oven and microwave which was back then quite expensive which also has such buttons that seem to work not always.
    The issue is that you will have no issues at all if you have only 1 finger touching the plate or the device at all.
    We came behind it cause it is an oven mounted on chest height where you easily touch or grab around the bar of the door and then try to touch the switches.
    It will not work then.
    So be aware to touch the device with just finger only and nowhere else to get a hopefully better result. It took a while till we got behind the Miele secret and since then if the touch is not working it had been our fault.

    18:30 - 30 A discharge current does not sound much but it depends on the world or system you live with where we usually have 48 or 56V batteries and 30 A would be about 1600 Watt but with your 400 V high voltage where 30A equal 12000 Watt, quite a lot for you.
    I had thought your HA system would go out of power first and could not control anything more - or you had added a ups or a step down converter from the battery to be independent from the grid which I might have missed cause with the HA automation that has become the brain of your home I guess, not the solax inverter anymore.

    Hello Mr.
    A pleasure to follow you and you have been a great inspiration. I have two istabreeze 2000w that I would like to have over my newly acquired Solax x3-hybrid 15kw.
    How would you connect them to one and the same system so Solax manages the power.. 1: Conveter to battery and at the same time let solax take from the battery bank?
    2: Otherwise, connect the Istabreeze conveter to the solar cell ports in the Solax inveter? However, I see this can be a problem, with large fluctuations.
    Or the third solution, where the istabreeze inverter charges a small battery pack and from there connects it to the Solax solar connection?

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thank you. 😃
      The problem is the voltage, 48v. Solax lowest voltage is 160v and that’s the reason why I sold my istabreeze. I did not want to play around with that on my solax inverter together with some voltage boosters etc. Sorry, it’s possible but I do not recommend it. Thanks for asking btw.

    • @NCSchroder
      @NCSchroder ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flyingtools Yes, makes sense. But we have a company that needs energy also in the evening and our climate conditions are the same as yours. Not much solar energy in the winter.
      A step-up convector would not be helpful.

    • @NCSchroder
      @NCSchroder ปีที่แล้ว

      In the Solax manual page 51, they recommend running them on their own circuit for consumption. But it would be fantastic if Solax could register and administer consumption.

    • @NCSchroder
      @NCSchroder ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found a solution. DC to DC converter. 48v to 220. Solax have PV a range from 180v to 950v. setup is from istabreeze charge controller to 4x12v Gel battery, to charge controller, to dc/dc conveter. So Solax will not have strong fluctuations, as the batteries will ensure calm fluctuations.

    Maybe you can permanently connect the Home Assistant to the EPS port. If I'm not mistaken, the EPS permanently provides a small amount of power for testing purposes, maybe that's enough. My EPS switch switches in approx. 0.1 seconds (GEYA W2R-100 II) . The home assistant could survive that too...

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, it is already connected to the EPS side of the inverter and I don’t know why the transfer switch will have that kind of delay. But anyway, we do not have any power outage here in Sweden at all almost so it will not be any big issue, anywayit is, of course a little irritating😅 I will try to connect a small battery in parallel between micro computer, and the transformer to help the micro computer with that small power outage that will happen in the transfer time. Thank you for your comment.☺️

    Hej, såg din senaste video om att gå off-grid. Har lite input till dig angående varför man inte får göra så utan att ha en automatisk "frånskiljare" mellan invertern och nätet. Det som kan hända i ditt fall är att o strömmen går och du går över i off-grid så kommer ditt system att mata ut ström tillbaka på nätet. Detta är inte tillåtet för att skydda de som jobbar på elbolaget samt deras utrustning. Tar gärna en diskussion om hur man kan göra då jag själv funderar både på batteri som i din lösning och att stötta nätet mm.

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hej och tack för din input. 😊
      Den automatiska frånskiljaren är inbyggd i denna invertern så ingen ström kan matas ut från eps sidan vidare ut på nätet. Men du har absolut rätt, det får ALDRIG finnas någon risk att spänning matas ut vid ett ev strömavbrott.

    IDLE is when you don’t have power from either batteries or panels: it often happens when the battery is too low at night. On Solax batteries it happens when the battery is at its minimum SoC. I don’t know what that means with your BMS.

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are absolutely right about that, the strange thing here is that I need to cycle the Battery main switch before it starts to take power again from the battery when it once went in to idle mode. That’s pretty irritating and I have not found a solution for that yet, but I am learning to live with that.😅 thank you for your comment😊

    • @nicolaslaurencin6862
      @nicolaslaurencin6862 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flyingtools Idle is not too bad per se BUT the inverter won't accept commands via the app (or the buttons) when it is in that mode. The only command that it will accept is SYTEM ON/OFF. One can turn off the system and then turn it back on. Then you have about 3 minutes of waiting/checking where the inverter accepts commands (one could MANUAL/FORCE CHARGE). After that it will revert to IDLE if nothing was done to remedy to it. One question: do you have additional earthing (jordtag) for when you go offgrid?

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicolaslaurencin6862 wow, this was interesting and very good information, thanks!!😃 This makes me understand this idle mode better. The strange thing is that it will go in to idle mode when the discharge current sets to 0 Amps.
      I will give you a scenario:
      Inverter mode: feed in.
      Energy price high
      Discharge current set to 25a.
      The sun sets and it will start to take power from the battery, everything is working as expected.
      Scenario 2:
      Inverter mode: feed in.
      Energy price low
      Discharge current set to 0A.
      The sun sets and it will start to take power from the grid, everything is working as expected until the energy prices is high and I set the discharge current back up to 25A, it will not take power from battery, still saying idle.
      I then need to do a hard power reset.
      Soc over 90%.
      Soc info is coming from home assistant via modbus to inverter.
      Inverter works in lead acid mode, and I think that that might be the issue, a software bug only in lead acid mode.
      Or maybe a missing massage in the modbus protocol that it is ok to start using the battery again.
      I’m just guessing here…
      And yes I have a earth rod, it’s measured to 46 ohms by a certified electrician. Probably one of the most important things in a off grid system.
