How to wire a VW id3 battery module to a BMS, building a off grid system with a victron multiplus

  • Here is a really easy battery system to build.
    No busbars or flimsy ballance leads.
    I swaped my growatt SPF 5000 to a Victron multiplus 2 48v becouse of the narrow voltage span in the growatt.
    I hope that this video can bring some light in how to connect this type of battery module to a Daly bms, ore any bms.
    Make sure to not load the balance leads with more then 200mA.
    The leads in the battery module is very thin and if you short them or load them with to high current those can fail, leaving you with a useless cell module!
    Note:
    Those batterys are dangerous and should be handled with respect and not be installed in your house. A stand alone garage or shed is what i recommend.

    Great video! I did order the BMS but they did say that the Li-ION version is not available anymore and that the LiFePo4 12s will also work. ive brought 4 of these modules from Poland with price like 400Eur/6.85kWt. They are 8s3p and doubled gives 16s3p. But you should cut and turn off 2 cells to be 14s3p. (can leave 15s3p it will be the same) and charge it to 4.05-4.08V max for safety. So i get 12.5Kwt from one battery on 4.2v charge and 10.5Kwt on 4.05 charge which suits me great for low voltage, higher safety and longer battery life. I would recomend you do the same thing.
    I own a 24kWt powerwall for 1800Eur (with bms and wiring) that is the future we deserve, not the Tesla wich uses same Nmc battaries 9kwt- 10 000Eur\
    I dont know what the minimum victron voltage is, but usualy it is higher the battery (12s2p like yours can give) so your range is not great, The best 48 inverter range is 14s( 13s or 15s are acceptable but there are some issues)
    These blocks uses Lg chem Li Nmc cells E78 type wich is the most safest Lg has made. E63 cells are dope and Lg uses them in their RESU10h Powerwalls which explode and work awful due to the old cells limitations (charge-discharge rates especially in colder temperatures) Also all power wall companies use their batteries i n 4.2v top level which causes them to degradate in 2-4 years of work and be really questionable to beacome crap in 5-6 years. Undervoltage gives 10+ years of usage, also high temperatures are a blast, 0-20degree are the best temps you can have

      Victron can use the hole capacity in those 12s modules, it’s absolutely not the most efficient set up but really simple.

      That's a very good question, the victron will only go down to 42 volts I think.. it would be nice to know how much of the capacity from 50 volts to 42 volts he is able to get.

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  ปีที่แล้ว

      The inverter can be set between 38-66v
      The cell specs is 3,3-4,2v
      The voltage range = 39,6-50,4.
      So no problems at all.
      3,0v is only the safety cut of done by the bms.

    • @denveronly
      @denveronly ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flyingtools great inverter specs, because most of inverters do only 42volts. my Deye gives 42-58.8 volts. i was so upset that it differs from specs and i cant use it as described 60volts. i made a powerwall from 8s3p x2 in 16s and was needed to cut two cells to obtain needed voltage
      in your setup you should grab as i did just same modules but they are 8s3p and make a 16s and you will be god blessed with 2x 6.85kwh.
      By the way, can you confirm that your inverter can charge up to 66volts or it can accept up to 66 volts? I read Victron specs and they show inverter charge capability of 57.6v maximum
      the lower voltage is configured absolutely correct 3.3 is ok
      the higher voltage i would lower to 4.05-4.08. It will be more stable and safe and working far more time
