Yes! This is important. The wire should be held in the center of the clamp loop, not touching the clamp arms, and held straight & perpendicular to the clamp ring to get the rated accuracy of the meter.
Thanks for this review but you are comparing the Klein clamp meter accuracy against an Innova multimeter which, frankly, is not known to be all that accurate. Not sure which is the most accurate.
I just got a CL700 today and am very disappointed because the reading is so huge for the AC amp draw at 35.5-37 when the knob was turned to amp setting when checking the draw for a space heater with 1,500 watts. I knew the amp draw should be around 12 amp but this reading is either way off or something isn't right. I'll return my Klein Tools CL700 back to Home Depot. I've learned that you don't need a multimeter with 600 amp capability because you'll never use a device drawing that much amp and such capability that high will compromise other functions, such as in my case.
Unless you had it on max amp setting, then you measured inrush current? 12.5 amps is only the running amp draw not the inrush. I own both Klein cl900 a fluke 177 a fluke 87v and a fluke 377fc all are close to each other.
My CL800 reads 2 to 3 amps on DC setting when there is nothing in it or a disconnected wire. Seems to read all right when current flows. Any explanation for the "phantom" reading?
Those caps are ur safety CAT IV keep em for when you dick around on big stuff. I have the CL450 and I haven't figured a way to measure DC amps on A~ yet or using the clamp but that's ok i bought it for dickering around with AC single/3 phase motors. The K-type input connecter purchase fucking sucks so bad! I don't know if it's the leads or the machine but it's unacceptable. Line splitter is a must
You don’t know which meter is off because you have to Test, each one individually not at the same time. Also, take your clamp meter and test it and non-clamp mode.
Good video friend thanks for show us this video I think Klein clamp meter is a good choice not too expensive compared with fluke or other brands and make the work
Sorry but really poor video. 1) You said the clamp meter is "off"...how do you know the $20 Innova meter isn't "off". 2) You stated you can't use the wire leads to measure amperage as if that's a drawback. That's whole point of a clamp meter. NO small multimeter can measure amperage beyond about 10 amps because it will melt the wires. These tools are designed to measure current running through 00 or 4-0 wire not USB level currents.
I love my CL800. Excellent quality and features. Klein knocked the ball out of the park!
80 bucks is very in accurate...more like 140
ur sposed to line ur wire perpendicular to the two arrows on each clamp arm
Yes! This is important. The wire should be held in the center of the clamp loop, not touching the clamp arms, and held straight & perpendicular to the clamp ring to get the rated accuracy of the meter.
Thank you! I really appreciate the comment. If I make another video I'll be sure to measure with the wire centered, straight, and perpendicular.
Also don't know how accurate testing a lead that's running through another meter would be
Made it to 1:59...You wouldnt use the clamp to measure miliamps, you would use the leads and interrupt the circuit.

You have to align the clamp so the wire passes through it in alignment with the (+) on the entry and (-) on the exit.
The co duct or needs to be in the middle of the clamp. It’s got a 1% +- in the middle and a 2%+- on the outside as per the manual.

DC current in miliamp range is hard to measure
20 30 mA

Doesn't do it on the AC setting
DC you need to zero it
There is a zero button for DC range
@@geoeconomics5629Figured it out earlier, nevertheless thank you.
Buenas noches este multimetro esta excelente, cual es la diferencia entre el cl800 y el cl900??
Do you not understand the purpose of the range button?
Can this be used as a non contact voltage tester.? Similar to voltage pen... where it beeps near live voltage?
Does not make noise just small red light
@@ismaelramirez9632 thanks
I want to know if this will measure up to 1000v DC?

Thanks a lot I really enjoy the video I'm interested in getting a Klein clamp meter the same model that you have how can I purchase one .

A bit late for this comment but, the Klein is a True RMS meter and the Innova isn't. The meters shouldn't share the same readings.
Good video friend thanks for show us this video I think Klein clamp meter is a good choice not too expensive compared with fluke or other brands and make the work
Dude, thank you. But you should reshoot the video cause you keep putting it in Continuity mode.
Good review, does the NCVT also have an audible alert tone along with the light ?
Thanks! Mine doesn't have a tone for the non-contact voltage tester, just the light
This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about
That's for sure.
Could you perhaps explain why? Before I watch his whole video as a rookie, and have no clue.
Thanks

Yeah, what they said. Learned nothing
this is why dislikes should have never been removed thanks JOE BIDEN
Joe biden SUCKS
😁
Terrible review.
Gat a Fluke its shit looks like garbage from Sears
Lol fluke is the same quality as klein cl900 but you are just paying 200 more dollars
2 min shorter video than the ugghhh ugghhh ugghhh guy.... must be fewer ugghhhhss in this video
This comment made my day, thank you!
@@snwbmx1 lol I take it you have seen the video I was mentioning 😂
Waste of time!
