    great fun review, I love my Model 3! Best car you can buy. And worth every penny!

      JAEGERTECH to say that the Model 3 is the best car you can buy is just plain idiotic. The car is no where close to being the best. The build quality on Tesla’s are awful! Literally! There have been multiple videos on the build quality of these cars! You’re paying $50,000 dollars for the same build quality as a $30,000 Subaru.
      Now, I do not like EV’s. I am just not a fan, I love my V8’s and I will never own a V8, however I give credit where it’s do, and this car just hasn’t impressed me.
      My neighbor actually has a P100D and traded it in on a 2017 Corvette Z06 and says he has no regrets at all. He missed banging through gears and the loud rumble, and I agree! Anyways, this car is not worth the money.

      Low CG and agile front end made it really enjoyable. Its funny to watch it because without the sound of an engine the sensation of speed is quite muted

    The sport setting for steering makes a pretty significant difference in feedback and input. I also have the stock all-season tires and was pretty amazed at how much they don't suck. The regen is really nice for driving in town, as is the traffic-aware cruise control. I do think the car is kind of quirky for some things -- auto wipers are way too slow, and I have had a couple of cases where the AC stops blowing ... only on really hot days though so ... also a New Englander and hope they fix it once it gets hot again in 10 months. But yeah, a really fun car, and that instant torque and great handling just doesn't get old.

    Model 3 is not an economy car. It's a sporty sedan like a BMW 3 series.
    The steering comes alive at high cornering loads near the limits. It has incredibly good steering feedback at high loads on a race track. It uses a virtual steering axis front suspension like Audi S4, etc.
    The energy efficiency tires are NOT performance tires. The 20 inch Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on the Model 3 Performance with Performance Upgrade option are excellent for performance driving.

    I love in a smaller city within Canada, and there's a ton of these around.. we just put 10 dedicated tesla chargers at the mall, I'm all for electric cars BUT I drive about 20,000 kilometres every 3 months so it's not really ideal as the range in every electric car still isn't to where I'd like to see it.
    and of course tedward, my favourite TH-camr and a great video as usual, love ya!

    • @karenrobertsdottir4101
      @karenrobertsdottir4101 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      "BUT I drive about 20,000 kilometres every 3 months"
      Cost to drive a 9l/100km gasoline car 20k km every 3 months at $1,50/l CAD: *$10,8k CAD ($8,3k USD)*
      Cost to drive a Model 3 at 150Wh/km (240Wh/mi) at $0,12/kWh CAD: *$1,4k CAD ($1,1k USD)*
      Annual cost savings: *$9,4k CAD ($7,2k USD)*
      Why, exactly, are you throwing your money in a fire by driving a gasoline car? Range? The car goes ~310 miles in the summer (depends on RWD / AWD, aero wheels vs. 19"/20" wheels, etc) and in bad winter conditions around 250 miles. That's 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours driving at highway speeds. And in areas covered by a supercharger network you can drive all day by the cycle (depends on your driving speed and conditions) "drive for 2 hours, charge during a 5-10 minute stretch/bathroom break, drive for 2 hours, charge during a 20-40 minute meal break, drive for 2 hours, charge during a 5-10 minute stretch/bathroom break..." etc. Meanwhile, in your everyday life, you wake up every day with a "full" charge (as full as you tell it to be) and never have to think about whether you have to detour to a gas station.

    4:10 You know it's really freaking hot in Florida right now. I don't have a sunroof, I have dark tinted heat repelling windows and it still feels like it's not enough. I think the Model 3 would be an issue with no retractable sunshade for the ceiling.

    If i remember correctly somebody at Tesla once told me that an AWD model has a longer range than an RWD model. This was regarding a Model S. The explanation was because the front motor is less powerful and therefor more efficient, using only FWD during highway cruising. Is this true, or are the RWD models more efficient after all?

    Drove one on Friday. Loved the power, and technology in it. The big screen did not bother me as much as I though it would... Though some controls SHOULD be on buttons and switches not on the screen. Blind spot warning indicators should be in the mirrors not on the screen... Your looking in the mirror to do a lane change, not the screen.
    Car was very quiet.....more so than most of the videos from inside the car make it seem. Stereo was Amazing..
    Panoramic roof is cool but would be a nightmare where I live.. I would honestly have to cover it over somehow.
    Wish the car was a lift back instead of a sedan.
    And the back seat was surprisingly pretty terrible.. low seat height or high floor or both. I'm 5'8'' and felt like my knees were way to high and bent.
    Also drove a Chevy Bolt EV. Also was very nice. Had regular car controls, proper blind spot monitoring, better back seats, more usable cargo space, lacked the auto drive, decent power but not Tesla power. Rode more firmly, little less comfortable in the front seats but not bad. Liked the Regen paddle on the steering wheel a lot. Definitely let's you easily engage with the car more easily.
    If the Chevy had Tesla's Supercharging network I would likely choose that car over the Tesla.. sticker was $39k for an LT model. They had one on the lot.
    You said your cost to drive was $13 for 300 miles, that's $.04 per mile. My gas car older model Prius is $.07 per mile. When you factor gas, oil changes, air filter and transmission fluid changes.
    Not enough of a savings to justify the car for me, and not enough range or ease or speed of recharging for my needs for now
    Loved the Tesla and the Bolt both.. they we're both awesome cars, if my needs ever change and the charging Network gets better.. I will be very happy when I can own one myself.

    • @tallll70
      @tallll70 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to agree, the bolt provides better gas car to ev transition in terms of interior and practicality. I'm kind of hopping GM will make something more fancy, hopefully bit bigger suv. It would definitely help competition.

    • @kens97sto171
      @kens97sto171 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tallll70
      Seems like that would be pretty easy. The Bolt makes enough power to move a decent sized car.. could easily transplant the power train to another vehicle.. a mid sized CUV for example.
      Overall it was an impressive car.. not as sexy looking but felt like a normal car to me. The Tesla was Fast and beautiful, and felt luxurious..
      But the back seat sucked... Bad enough for me to think .. yuck.. I would not want to spend 15 min back here..

      The Model 3 was never meant to stand out. It was designed to get people out of ICE vehicles and into BEVs. Elon Musk's vision behind this car is to make it as numerous as Volkswagens. If as you say, there are that many Model 3s where you live, then Elon Musk's vision is becoming a reality.

    quote, "People are already complaining about steering in Porsches and everyone going electric power-assist. This is a Tesla. Everything is electric."
    My 2010 Tesla Roadster doesn't even have power steering. It's 100% mechanical.
    quote, "This is a greenhouse. There's so much glass here… This is the perfect leaf-peeping car (other than a convertible)."
    And I get to feel smug again, because the Roadster is a convertible. (Well, it has a targa top I mean.)
    On the other hand, I can't use Tesla Supercharger stations, and that's a real drag.

    Honestly, the car is still a novelty right now, but if every car became electric then there would be no point being a car fan anymore. Sure, you move fast, but no cool engine configurations, transmissions, SOUNDS to geek over. What's the point?

    • @TedwardDrives
      @TedwardDrives 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you, but i would suggest thinking about it as another variation of motoring. NA, Supercharged, Turbocharged, Hybrid....electric. There is something to be said about a wildly low CG and instant torque. It is different, but electric does not mean the death of fun. Not saying you'll prefer it...But you might just enjoy it

    • @MichaelStephenLau
      @MichaelStephenLau 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "What's the point?" Are you serious?

    • @MichaelStephenLau
      @MichaelStephenLau 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I work in IT, it is the definition of something to "geek" over. The tech in it will blow your mind, and unlike other vehicles it will continue to improve and update as time progresses.
      Completely ignoring the 0 emissions, the low maintenance requirements, the long life expectancy, and the overall fun of driving something so responsive and smart... do you how much it costs me to drive it daily? $0! I live in Texas, which at night (off peak hours) can run entirely off wind energy. Therefore, my energy company offers free nights, so I'm able to top off the car for FREE every night. Which is more than I need to drive. Occasionally if i take a long trip it'll cost $3-$6 for 30min of charging.

    • @motormusique
      @motormusique 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can do the cliched mocking by implying that I'm old fashioned but I will proudly and staunchly represent my perspective. You can't expect everyone to be excited about a particular technology just because it's objectively 'better' in some ways. And Michael, it has nothing to do with not recognizing that it is a good and important piece of technology, which I do. People are into cars for different reasons and I think Teslas appeal more to techie people more than car people. I don't think it would be unenjoyable, but I think over time electric does make cars more boring. It's like why people enjoy bicycles or vinyl...you can say that they are old pieces of technology but still very relevant and enjoyable to a lot of people.
