The only thing I would suggest if you want them to breed is maybe a couple of plants in the back corner. Somewhere for them to moult too and hide whilst vulnerable. Other shrimp may attack and kill then during the moulting process. Plus maybe a couple of water lettuce. My shrimp love the roots of the water lettuce.

And a few rock piles. They love hiding in rock piles to have their babies! Plus, lots of biofilm will grow on those rocks too- so they can hide and snack in there too! If you have fist sized (or smaller) of Dragon Stone- they will go crazy playing and eating the biofilm in all the hideyholes!

I agree MD! I love snails! They do so much work for me, and I never have to buy anymore, just transfer some to a new tanks and let them multiply! If you keep your glass clean they aren’t obnoxious at all. And truly if you give them time they will overpopulate, and then dwindle off to a good amount for the tank. LOVE snails. 🐌

Hey MD I breed neocaridina shrimp in just about all of my tanks. One good thing I have success with is to feed them bloodworms one every two weeks. It’s seems to induce breeding in my tanks. I also use Shrimp King food and especially their baby food when I see little ones running around. This is so they all can have a nibble due to large ones hogging the big food. I have over 100 in one of my 10 gallon tanks.

tiger shrimp( caradina) also thrive in the same parameters as neo caradina.
edit: if you want a successful shrimp breeding tank, having just a pile of big rocks for the shrimp to hide in is highly reccomended.(your lava rocks are too spread out for them to hide in while the molt) and if you put any floating plants in like hornwort or water lettuce, they do like to spend time near the surface too.

no probs. The tap attachement is just one that screws onto the tap. most taps have an end cap that unscrews and this attachment then screws onto that and has your standard garden hose male end. then its just some garden hose and an old filter inlet pipe to hook over the tank. I get the right temperature buy mixing the hot and cold to the right level (my tap is both temperatures mixed into one). Hope this helps.

Very nice setup, enjoy your videos a lot. It just inspired me to re-do some of my tanks which I wasn´t happy with.
Regarding the planaria: I also got planaria in one of my "shrimp only" tanks. There are coming up a lot of baby shrimp so I´m not to concerned about those planaria.
What I do though, is, I suck em off when changing the water so thats how I keep the population a little bit under control.

you can dim the lighting, helps with breeding
you can also harvest some rain water helps encourage breeding

I always use panacur c for hydra and planaria. I always remove nerites but my bladder, ramshorn, and trumpet snails all do fine. As do my shrimp. Just dosed my apisto and pygmy Cory tank without issue!

a lot of these planaria removers are known to kill snails too, maybe remove the snails for a while just to make sure they don't die✌

I love your videos and every one makes me hungry to start up one. I have two tanks empty but all my gold fish live outdoors in two large farm animal water tanks. I have no access to fresh water fish because of covid. The small "pet store" is a joke and it is a hundred miles to any other places. I know it is possible to buy online but would prefer to see in person. But in the meantime i watch your wonderful set ups and that is always a big treat.

Hey just a tip! Btw if you boil the wood for roughly 15 minutes it sinks almost instantly. It does remove some of the good tendons that the shrimp love but it is well worth it as it kills anything that is on it from wherever it came from

Love your channel! It’s inspired us to setup our first tank, which will be for shrimps. I would love to see more about shrimp water parameters and long term maintenance? Also the planaria treatment you mentioned is still for sale in the UK, on Amazon 😉 would you recommend a pre-treatment before we put our shrimps into the new tank? It’s only a week old so we are waiting for at least 4-5 weeks to mature it before putting any livestock in. TIA

I’ve used a chrysanthemum-based product like that that kills planaria, but it kills snails too. Maybe something to double check or keep an eye on
