    I wish someone told me this when I was pregnant but DO NOT I repeat lol do not change him on your bed or couch for the first couple weeks. I also have the gather mat and would put that down wherever I was changing him but he would pee everywhere. It’s super common in newborn boys but by like 4 weeks they don’t tend to do it as much. So I would change him on the floor & I found a like foam bath thing at target for like $5 I wanna say that’s soft so they aren’t laying on a hard surface. I would get it just to have on hand you might find another use for it. I personally don’t use it for his baths but I do for his diaper changes. I’ll send you the link through your Instagram just in case you want to get it :)

    I highly recommend breast feeding in a chair sitting up!! I know it seems tedious & almost like you’re depriving yourself of sleep, but I promise you it makes a world of difference. With my first babies, the twins, I made it a point to get up and sit in my chair, and feed them. I was more aware of what was going on, and could focus on their needs..(if they were actually hungry or just dozing off every other second & didn’t actually need to eat). When you’re in an upright seated position you’re less likely to fall asleep yourself (even though it’s very possible you still will) you’ll for sure fall asleep laying in your bed or sitting in your bed to feed, which can be dangerous. When I had my son, I had a lot less space, and couldn’t fit a chair, so I chose to breast feed at night in bed. Almost every time I fed him I fell asleep with him attached, which wasn’t good. Luckily nothing happened, except for the fact that he was a VERY clingy baby, whereas my girls were very independent, and didn’t cry when they slept on their own. My son took forever to go from my room to his own crib, my daughters never even had to transition. So for sure get a chair for your room!!! Also do not use any cold pads on your nipples, I ended up with terrible mastitis when I did that because no one told me. Good luck mama!

      Warm rags etc for the nipples ! Thanks for all the other info even tho it wasn’t for me directly lol! My daughter didn’t breastfeed long and she had acid reflux she ended up stopping on her own and I dried up.

    I know you didn’t ask for a specific type of breast pump but I would recommend the elvie! It can be draining at times when you you’re hooked up and constantly having to pump. With the elvie you can go about your day and do tasks while you’re pumping super convenient but it is a little pricey💕

    I’ve seen some moms have a tiny mini fridge for their room for when they pump!! I bet it would be so convenient!!

      Kilean Rodriguez it sounds weird but the $20 coca-cola fridges or skincare fridges are the absolute best, and fit on your nightstand perfectly!

    Girl you literally think of everything honestly! In regards to the chair in your bedroom I would consider it. I know you had mentioned not wanting to get out of bed and stimulate you or the baby, but when they are a newborn you might have to stimulate them to feed them. When my daughter was born she would almost always fall asleep in the middle of feeding and wouldn't finish and the doctors told us to stimulate her such as strip her down, turn on the light, rub on her skin and such to make sure that she was eating enough. So every feeding seems to be a big ordeal in the beginning. Plus at that stage you change their diaper with every feeding too lol. Sorry this is getting long I was just trying to say that you will most likely be wide awake at that point so you might enjoy having a chair to sit in. I loved having our rocker in our room with us. And also don't be too scared of postpartum. I found it to be not as bad as people say at all (in regards to pain)! I know some people might have it worse but not everyone has a horrible time with it so just keep a positive open mind. 😉

    • @KileanRodriguez
      @KileanRodriguez  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for this!! Totally makes sense about them already being up with a diaper change + needing them to stay awake for the feed 😅 and yay I’m so glad you said your experience wasn’t that bad!! Seriously makes me feel so much better 💛

    • @erins3465
      @erins3465 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a chair was actually wonderful for me and our daughter!! Neither of us found it over stimulating, but everyone is different. And nursing bras and nursing shirts are AMAZING!! Because then u don't have to cover up with a blanket or anything. Keep up with your vitamins and remember that you don't always have to do everything, every day, such as laundry..etc. take time for yourself.

      I also love yoga/hippy pants lol the soft material is nice when you're body is still trying to recover. Also definitely get nursing bras that don't have a wire for the beginning of the breastfeeding journey. Otherwise the wire can cause you to get blocked milk ducts. Then you become engorged again a d it's just no fun whatsoever.

    For baby I would have a change of clothes and some blankets in your room for nightly feeds to keep warm. This might sound weird but I would get an insulated bottle to add warm water in it (for the peri) During the night the last thing that I wanted to do those first few nights was wait for the water to get warm for the peri bottle. Totally luxury thing but something to think about. Have all the lose clothing ready!! I didn’t wear tight fitting clothing for a month!
