I love that you don't operate with negative emotions but simply call them difficult etc. Because all emotions are positive.

    Thank you yet again Tanner..
I just thought I'd give this a listen.
When you explained Processing Emotions & how it's the resisting difficult emotions that can be a cause..
It was a eureka moment for me.
I had terrible foot pain in both feet from different incidents, was told to rest, but couldn't.. I pushed through for months to be there for my dad who was dying..
Around the time we lost him I started getting horrid burning as well as terrible pain & started using crutches. ( July 23.)
I tried to emotionally block things & push through & now have been diagnosed with CRPS.
Luckily I'm now under a chronic pain clinic, and another specialist has said she's going to arrange grief counselling too.
I'm doing physio every day, started swimming, and doing different practices..
    I will never stop.
Thank you so much for all you do to help & educate and point out problems we can work on.

Thank you Tanner! I read a lot of mindbody aproach Books (dr. Sarno, Alan Gordon, Dr. Schubiner, …). I‘m on this track since 1,5 years … I have done the 12 week Curable groups program. I made progress, but something is still missing. I think your program will fill some important gaps! Did you think about writing a book? That would be important to Save and Store your Knowledge. Please let is know when your Course is coming. I am from Germany, can I participate too? Great Work!

Thank you so much Tanner. This has given me some (much needed) structure for how I frame my work with my therapist (i.e. especially #3 and #5, whereas maybe the other three I have lots of resources, partly in thanks to your videos etc. that can lean on). Because of where I live (no practical access to good in-person therapy) I'm doing online (BH) but really needed some structure for the personalized treatment.
The treatment "factors" are logical and I do get it how each are important. I REALLY liked what you said about symptoms sensitization, and that this itself can be a source of trauma to work with. I've known about pain perceptions and how hypervigilance and preoccupation plays a negative role (certainly for me), but on top of the major life stressors and the early life traumas etc. it really does seem that the symptoms themselves (or reactions to them) become even the most important trauma and keeps the cycle going. I work on the behavior and cognitive side, but I see that its more than that, its (symptoms) is a trigger in itself. So yes, when you spoke about this a light switch sorta went off...makes so much sense and is so helpful as a framing for treatment (especially since I do find it hard to "know" what ACE or recent other major stressor etc. to work with or prioritize.

I’ve just begun checking this out. I have a question perhaps someone could answer for me. I have had two double fusions. So structurally my back is changed and of course there is scar issue and so on. would this still apply to me?

    • @painpsychotherapy
      @painpsychotherapy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, often even with structural concerns a portion of the pain can be neuroplastic and this approach would then be useful. I wish you the best in your healing!

What can you do if chronic life stressors are making symptoms unbearable? I try to go through situations and try not to focus on symptoms tell myself it’s ok etc but the payback is severe as my nervous system is so overwhelmed tithe point of explosion screaming feeling

Hello Tanner, great video, may I ask, is there a specific resource that you can recommend that offers specific exercises and practices for emotional expression such as kicking screaming punching shaking, running, walking and the like? I would be curious to see a bit of a list there to see if I am missing any? Thank you for your work.

Very excited for this course! I recently came across your TH-cam channel and every video I’ve watched has really helped me. You are very good at synthesizing information and making it easy to understand and apply in the present moment. Since 2022, I have had to put my clinical social work career on hold due to Long Covid Syndrome. I have also developed several chronic conditions, including chronic fatigue and pain. I’ve spent the past 2 years trying so many approaches to heal my body. I do have a somatic therapist and a background in polyvagal theory. What you, your wife and colleague are doing is extremely important and needed right now. So many of us are suffering with long covid syndrome and are being ignored and gaslit by most medical professionals. Thank you for sharing your experiences and giving me hope!!! 🙏✨

I watch all of your videos tanner. The one thing that jumps out always is ‘and symptoms!’ What do you mean by this? The good news is in recent weeks I’ve been seeing improvements in the pain. So much so the pain aspect is pretty much gone. I don’t have pain any longer. Which is good yeah... But I do still have discomfort - tightness, uncomfortable sensations etc. (this is in my shoulder area after 3x rib fracture and punctured lung). I’m still unsure if that’s damaged tissue, delayed healing or from initial lack of use. Tomorrow is 6 months exactly post injury.
Is this what you define as symptoms? Sensations and discomfort?
Hyper focussed on this. Disproportionate to the amount of pain it now causes!
    Thanks.
