I was in Durban in January 2020. the last time I went there was in 2014. I have seen a big difference. The beach front project was almost finished and it really looks beautiful..
Our projects always run slow because of corruption but slowly they get there. While the truth is important about corruption we should also not make it a doom and gloom country. I like this channel as it show all the major positive projects that people don't ever mentions, they are only glad to talk about failures. BTW I love Durban so much.
Great video man . I really loved it . A Durbanite here , i didn't know about this project in detail but so far it's been amazing to experience it really captures your imagination
The Cruise terminal already erected roof support structure early November. I suspect it will be finished by 2021 Passover or Easters. Great video. The yacht precinct was cancelled, correctly so, because Durban must accommodate all lifestyle choices, as it is. Therefore nature reservation remains key. Instead the yachts must remain at Victoria Embankment, which has plans suffering politics that be, affecting SA cities. The original Point Waterfront Development which constructed those canals was excellent yes and sadly suffered 2008 Recession. However 2008 recession is an excuse by our government, because SA was not badly affected. The main problem is ANC run inner cities and the fraud and crime and deterioration. The main problem with Point is that it is at that end of Durban, and the residents have to drive through Nigerian drug hubs of Point. That is the killer. We speak about these truths, we get labelled as xenophobes. You can't run Durban as a 3rd world city, it was never such, but was 1st world before 1950 even.
Thanks for your time to write this amazing comment Bongani! Thanks for your point of view into the subject. Very interesting! I didnt know all that. Always feel free to share your opinion.
Great one I hope this will assist the people of KZN to not see Johannesburg as a lucrative place where you find jobs and a better life but Durban can also hold its own mega projects for its population..
I grew up in Joburg now living in Durban. Everytime you go back to Joburg, it feels like downgrade. It seems Durban is already ahead of Joburg in terms of infrastructure development. Although Joburg is still financially strong.
Everyone want to move aways from the place the grew up. I live in Jhb and love Durban, I can't get tired of the see. But to Durbanites it is like the see does not even exist, they just dream of Jhb :)
Wow it looks very nice but in a matter of interest, is the New Durban Port Terminal already built for 2021/2022. We are waiting to cruise on the MSC ships that will be coming to Durban. Hoping to cruise in 2022.
At last someone mentioned that Durban is the second largest city in South Africa. I have been in Cape Town and wasn't convinced that it claimed to be second largest in SA. The fact is, Durban is the largest behind Joburg. Cape Town is the second most populous city. In Overall, lets appreciate South Africa's transition.
I am Ex Durbanite now living in Cape Town for twenty years. To get to the old waterfront you had to do it through the notorious Point Road. Must have changed now. This development will be great for Durban.
@@zukielife I do miss Durban but fell in love with Cape Town. I visited Durban recently and wasn't impressed. Too many people, untidy and crooks everywhere.

The project looks interesting and hitech. Hope it finishes. The vision seems like that of Modderfontein smart city project by Chinese development group Zendai but that project was scrapped after some initial construction. Nice work though !

Nothing special. All the south african biggest coastal cities from Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London to Cape Town will have waterfronts. Tourism industry basically. Cruise ships specially. If you want to compete with big touristic destinations this is a must. Most of it will be subsidized by foreign entities/investors.
