Why is it named Dube? Just wondering, my father (who is Zimbabwean) has the surname Dube. So I’m wondering maybe it was named after a Zimbabwean businessman or maybe it means something else in another language.
The Dube TradePort Corporation is named after John Langalibalele Dube, who was an educator, clergyman, writer, newspaper editor and the founding president of the then South African Native National Congress, later the ANC.
Dube is a Nguni surname. Nguni = Zulu, Ndebele, Swazi, Xhosa, 4 of the 12 official languages in SA. And I believe those languages are found in Zim aswell.
