U the man It takes a special person to give a lifetime of experience and knowledge so unselfishly to anyone who will lend an ear this day and time for absolutely nothing in return but the joy of giving.
Looking forward to your upcoming videos Richard. You sharing your knowledge with us, helps me have a much better chance of catching a mess of fish when I do get to go. Thanks!
The man, the myth, the fishing machine!!! Thank you so much Mr. Gene for all the tips!!! Can’t wait for you to go in more detail, I’ve been a follower since the start of your channel. I’m a fellow north Alabamian and I’ve figured out the follow the shad to catch the fish. More in depth information on how to keep up with where the shad are throughout the year is going to help me and everyone else out a ton!!! Thank you again and God bless!!
Richard! I appreciate your down-to-earth approach to fishing. I've been learning firsthand that there is indeed a lot that goes into fishing, but the "a lot" part doesn't have to mean a lot of tackle, electronics, and money spent. I've been trying to become a better angler by spending less time shopping and more time learning about the fish themselves, including the shad. I would love to see more videos detailing shad movements.
Hey Taylor...you & me both (shad movements). Good example is how did Richard know the shad where in the shallow water flat he fished in this video? Did he physically see them or graph them with electronics?
I like information I get on this channel. Not a fish on every cast. That’s being honest. Water temperature is very important as Richard tells us. Thanks Richard for the enjoyable video.
Can't wait to try these this spring up in O-HI-O. Richard Gene.....Master Carpenter....King of Crappie.......WOOOOO! 2022 Here We Come! God Bless Richard!
Dude I love your videos. I’ve been watching them for years. The “southern old dude” character you act out is amazing. And your endings get me so pumped to go fishing it’s insane. I can’t contain it either. The woos…Wooo.. WOOOO!!
Mr Gene I appreciate your videos but seeing open water after walking off an icey lake I usually never miss on is making me a bit jealous I must admit ;)
I have learn so much from you over the last year and half. I’ve tried the techniques to help me become a better angler. God bless! I’m talkin bout WOOOOO
Thank you for sharing another trip with us, God bless you and your family. You make my days a little brighter. Always look for new trips and then watch couple older one.
God bless you, Richard. Your videos are always informative and fun to watch. I always look forward to your next video. I fish a good bit, and I’m looking to get a boat soon. Keep doing what you’re doing my friend.
I've been out 3 times in 2022 and haven't had a bite yet so watching you pull some big ole crappie puts a smile on my face. Looking forward to all the knowledge your fixin to drop on us this year 👍🏻
Shad = crappie for supper. I agree 100% Richard. We are faced with extremely clear water where I fish. Visibility can sometimes exceed 25' and the crappie sometimes go 35' deep or deeper. Those overcast cloudy days I wish we had more of because when it's sunny the crappie are very finicky.
Thank u mr machine! I never miss a video, keep em coming please! I feel like I just walked out of a great fishin church service on a Sunday afternoon after that big ol talk on shad!
I Think I learn a little more each video , crappie is Tough down here at times but these techniques for crappie are second to none ,thanks Mr. Gene and God bless
If that twister tail is to much action you can also cut the tail shorter (nip the end off) and it'll kill some of the action.More you cut off the less action it'll have, works great if you don't have something in that color in your other baits like your pearl one you switched to.
I’m glad you put most of the fish you catch back, that lake would be a desert if you didn’t. Best fisherman I’ve ever SAW! Thanks for sharing your tips and trick RGTFM!!
Another excellent video, many thanks for the great viewing and lessons. Up here in the upper Mississippi and St. Croixe area, we fish a little differently but your techniques have helped me in many ways. Please keep posting and if you ever get up this was it'd be my pleasure to take you and let you work your magic. All my best to you.
Mr. Gene !!! Thank you so much for the knowledge and great tips !! God bless you and your family and the wild man too!! I look forward to the next one my man!!!
God Bless you and yours, also Richard! I truly enjoy your video's and all your secrets that you share. May you have a blessed, healthy, and safe 2022 season. I like using underspins a lot when crappie fishing. I just finished up my own very first poured underspins, putting the split rings and blades on, and painting them. 1/8th, 1/16th, and 1/32nd. I cast all mine too, for different applications, as far as depth is concerned, and sizes of the plastics, as you do. I fish a lot of trees and brush, here in central Kentucky. So I loose a lot of them. That's why I am making my own. Roadrunner underspins were getting costly. I really liked the lesson anout learning the shad movements. Catch and release, yet save a few for momma Sue!!
You can find crappie inches under the ice in below freezing temperatures. These are cold weather fish this is their element. That actually looks a tad mild very awesome fishing 🤗🤗🔥
Another great video Richard! Love watching your videos! I’ve learned so much. Recently retired & am getting back into fishing. Would you spend a few minutes in one of your videos describing what you you’re looking for with a bite? I know you like the high viz line and watch it but how do you know when you have a bite and how to set the hook. I know it sounds basic, but I feel I may be missing fish by not knowing exactly what to look for. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip never knew too much tail action could cause fish not to bite .
How this Man doesn’t have a weekly television series on the Outdoor channel is beyond me.
Right... he would turn it down though.
Great video....Thanks Elmo
Another great video Richard! Love watching your videos! I’ve learned so much. Recently retired & am getting back into fishing.
