Welcome back to another Slow Fashion Friday video where I am decluttering my home & my reselling business, one trash bag at a time! This is week 3 in my series! I am tackling the dreaded linen closet! This was a huge transformation! We’ll also be organizing more shoes in my inventory!! Each week I am one step closer to my clutter-free goals! I hope you enjoy it!

Is everything gone. I take blankets and linens for Fresh Start in Hudson. I wish I caught this earlier. Even table runners and anything you can use to set up a household. If you ever want me to pick stuff up, or whatever works. ❤❤❤

Girl.... look at you go! I always seem to get a bit of ADHD when I start decluttering bouncing from one project to another and get so overwhelmed. You have got to be feeling so proud of yourself with the dedication you have with this process. You could donate your stained towels/sheets to a local humane society/animal shelter or a vet clinic. Bravo, bravo, bravo on the closet reveal!! Sweet job!

You may have already thrown out the stained or torn towel and blankets, but if not, the animal shelters usually love taking my old towel and blankets...stained and torn or not. Way to commit to the decluttering. Give yourself a high five! You have earned it!

I’ve been “shedding” as well and donated 15 big boxes to my local thrift store. When i dropped them off, one of the volunteers there asked if i was moving!! Lol but really shows how much i buy when the truth is I don’t need so much stuff.

And we are-cheering you on.

Gaines type of style but it is more of a reflection of what most of us have at home. Like you said real life! I think that the comforter came out gorgeous and that closet wow! great improvement! Oh Lori, you are so relatable. Thank you for all the reselling experiences you share and for your personal journey with clutter, letting go of stuff and being at the empty nest stage of life.
I am not a contemporary of yours. I am much (MUCH😊) older than you are but I am at a similar stage of life, having started a family very late, but so much of what you share resonates with me. Your You Tube videos are so informative and helpful to me in my post retirement fledgling reselling journey and ongoing decluttering of my life. I have to say, you’re a natural on camera as well, very professional! And it’s apparent that you’re a lovely person.
I’ve only recently found you, so I have a few years of content to catch up with 😉. Thank you for putting this helpful content out there. Reselling is helping the planet, no matter what the naysayers say and it’s helping me personally.

Absolutely brilliant to make a public pledge that you have to deliver on. It really keeps your feet to the fire and makes sure you're going to have a beautifully organized house and probably increase your subscriber base as well since this is so compelling. Good work.

I understand the guilt of throwing this away, even if they’ve been well loved are may be stained / torn.
H&M I think still has a recycling program where you can bring in any kind of textile and they send them off to be recycled. I used to work there and it’s a legit program!
Sometimes it’s hard to make another errand when getting rid of stuff, but if it helps ease the guilt of throwing things out, it may be worth it!
    I’m loving this series! 💖

I am loving the declutter videos. Since your first one, I have started going through my unlisted inventory. At the moment I have six boxes of hardgood items that I’m donating. I have not even begun to tackle the clothes part of my inventory yet. That one is going to be a job for sure 🤦‍♀️I know you probably already got rid of those stained towels, but I know around here animal shelters will ask for used towel donations. They’ll use them for the animal baths and their messes. Also, I know folks were asking you about why you donate stained items. There’s a lot of people that I personally that shop at thrift stores for work clothes and they don’t mind a few stains because they’re going to get ruined on their job anyways. I have a friend who is a house cleaner and she shops for all of her work clothes at thrift stores because they get ruined on the job. Lori, your videos are helping me stay motivated to get organized in my home and my reselling business 😊 Thank You!

Lori, I am really proud of you! I know it must be hard to let go of the things you've had in your home while you raised your children. For 23 years, I lived in a very small home under 900 sq. feet. I learned to purge closets, drawers, etc.regularly because there just wasn't room to keep everything. Our home is more than twice that size now, but I still enjoy going through our things and donating what we don't need. I love the space it creates. I want to thank you for mentioning the Tote Scan app! I had never heard of that before. I'm in the middle of reorganizing my eBay/PM inventory, and that is going to be an awesome way to use a number system (already in progress with that) within the Tote Scan system. Thank you so much!

I store all of my guest room/extra bed linens in larger zip lock bags with a dryer sheet after they’ve been washed so they 1) stay together as a set and 2) always stay fresh and clean when I need to use them. Everyone who stays at my house always thinks I’ve just washed all the sheets right before they got there because they smell so fresh and clean 😂

Keep donating old and stained linens and towels! People have other uses for them! I know of at least one sewing charity that makes "ugly blankets" for the unfortunate people that live on the streets. They form sort of a bedroll that is warm and cozy out of the old blankets and quilts. Animal charities always need old towels. They don't care about stains! Old textiles don't need to go to the landfill! Your closet looks amazing!

This is so inspiring! I'm like you and need to do things like this a little at a time, otherwise it's totally overwhelming. Thanks for taking us on your journey!

Living in NE I normally declutter every season. I watched your video this morning and it motivated me to organize my bedroom drawers once again. Filled a bag for Savers

Not sure if you have memory totes for each of your kiddos. I have three for each child. Mine are 29, 25, and 12. Over the years I have kept sentimental things such as baby blankets, grade cards, stuffed animals etc. Then when they want it ( my green children haven’t asked yet) I will have them to treasure or share with their own families. You did an amazing job this week and love your videos!❤️

I decluttered my linen closet this week too! I only saved the specific sets for the beds and the favorite blankets. The pitfall is that now I want to replace it with fresh shiny new. I am resisting the urge!

It's so hard getting rid of those items that have so many memories.

I feel you on the donating stained items...while it doesnt guarantee they wont end up in landfill, I have soo much guilt about throwing stuff away. if you donate it, people could purchase for loose fabric for re-work and DIY projects!

Love your videos . This one gave me anxiety . It was A LOT . My husband would absolutely divorce me . Just get rid of it ! Don’t let the sentiment be an excuse to keep things for 20 years . Your kids / grandkids won’t care about those sheets or blankets

I love the declutters! I def recommend putting all the sentimental items into one box and labelling it, even if it still lives in the linen closet, at least they're out of the way so it's easy to find the sheets you use on a day to day basis. Over time you can revisit the sentimental boxes and see what you're ready to let go of, but it's easy because it's all contained :)

Awesome progress! When I declutter the more "difficult" items, I find I come back to it the next day or so. It's like my brain has to let go and then it's so much easier to put it in the donate bag/box.
(Kitchen items are my clutter issue.)
