@@DiscoDevil197 incorrect information. As a chef and restaurant GM, I prefer putting them in the refrigerator to slow them down and/or a quick knife thru the brain. Never live boiling or steaming. But personally, I dont eat lobster or crab.
I'd have never imagined I'd be so engrossed and invested in the day to day activities of a lobster, but I've been here the whole time! God bless you, Brady. Thank you from Warner Robins.
As an invertebrate owner, I am shockingly surprised at how similar Leon's molting process is to my tarantulas and scorpions. It's incredible to watch. Their vulnerability is the hardest part to think about. Especially how delicate they are for WEEKS after their molt. What a WONDERFUL thing you've caught on camera. Thank you for caring so well for this special little guy. People often ask me how I can care so much for spiders and "bugs"....I tell people that once you're forced to keep something alive and actually CARE for it, you start to see it in a totally different light.
I love this!! You truly care for Leon’s dry-land-equivalent critters! You’ve got a perspective on Leon most of us and likely even Leon’s caretaker don’t even have! How beautiful ❤
By boys and I have been following Leon since the beginning. None of us can believe how big he has gotten. The 12 year old keeps trying to bring his own Leon home from Publix. Sending all the love and best for our favorite lobster Tampa Bay, Fl. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Ive literally just found this channel. It's so gracious that you "rescued" him from the Fresh Seafood shop. I watched as you snipped those elastic bands off his claws. Ive noticed - since literally watching back-to-back episodes - how colourful he has become. I believe it's because he's happy, healthy & it's because he's completely safe. Such a glorious sight. ❤️❤️😘
To see Leon sitting by his old shell at 12:25 is quite a powerful image. He is fresh and reborn, saying goodbye to his old self. How many of us get to do that?
@@nvgboiyes6386 That would be an extreme outlier. Generally they're believed to live about 45-50 years. What's interesting though is that they don't really age like other animals do. The limiting factor to their lifespan is the moulting process. The bigger they get the more energy it takes, so eventually they reach a point where they die from exhaustion during a moult.
Leon and the world got lucky the day you walked into that store! Thank you Brady, for sharing his life with us. So incredible to be able to witness that moult!
I used to work in the seafood department at Sobeys, a Canadian grocery chain. Over my years of employment, I probably steamed and sold thousands of live lobsters. During my time there, it was starting to become more widely known that most seafood, lobsters included, definitely feel pain, it's just not currently known to what extent. Moreso; lobsters, squid, and octopus are all now scientifically understood to be sentient. You and Leon have brought me a view far more profound than I had before and with it, a deeper regret. I truly wish better living conditions were required for these creatures.
=> ' I truly wish better living conditions were required for these creatures' These intelligent creatures shouldn't be there in the first place with their claws all taped up. I sincerely hope there are less lobsters being boiled alive since Brady rescued and introduced us to Leon.
Remember Lobsters are like Humans Save Lobsters Community is present 🙏🏻💙🦞 Love Cold places hope you can stay well, Hello from Canada, and remember Lobsters are Animals.
This video made me so emotional and I cannot exactly place why. Just seeing Leon safe, healthy and seemingly so happy with Brady is just so lovely. I hope Leon has the best life ever with Brady.
I felt quite emotional watching this, too. The entire molting experience is just so incredible. It is truly remarkable that he had legs, claws, a body inside his body, like he is two lobsters in one (even more than two as he molted before and likely will molt again). Makes one wonder, how many Leons are in Leon? One of the most striking parts of the video to me was the comparison of the claws. It is incredible how the second claw "grew" but was a different claw. The teeth look exactly the same, as though it was the same claw growing. But it was an entirely different claw.
Leon is healthy because of what you have done for him. Love nutrition exercise and a few friends has really brought him to a great place When I lived in Florida I would catch Florida lobster sometimes I would come across a few molted shells it was very interesting never seen one mold but thank you to you now I know how it's done thank you
I just commented something similar on a dog groomers videos. Just... People caring so deeply for another being. I'm not going through a great time so it's nice to be reminded people can care
How weird it would be if humans moulted. You'd have to book time off work for it. "I can't come in today, sorry. I'm still feeling pretty vulnerable and my eyesight isn't 100% yet." We'd get two birthdays as well, which reminds me: HAPPY REBIRTHDAY LEON! ❤ Never thought I'd be crying over a lobster - it really was as if he were saying goodbye to his old self... some deep philosophical stuff in there. Great photography as always, Brady. Honoured to be on this beautiful journey with you and Leon
@@davidmccann9811 You know we would play with it, like the curious creatures we are. We'd find different ways to fuck with people by stuffing them with newspaper or something.
Thats probably what will finally kill him. Lobsters are essentially biologically immortal but eventually he will get too big and it'll cost too much energy
I never thought id be so entertained by a lobster but i love this guy and his pet lobster, they have a special bond thats for sure, even staying up with him during the whole molting process, im sure leon knew you were right there with him if he needed you
Holy smokes, Brady! You showed great restraint in not intervening when Leon flipped over. I think I may have dove in that tank in order to help him back to his feet. Thank you for letting us be a part of this wonderful event.
Leon's new look is incredible, I love his lava coloured spikes on the claws. I relate to Brady on some level. I saved a campbells hamster from a home that didn't want her anymore and she lived for 3 years and a few months, an incredible age for her species. I believe she appreaciated her new large tank with lots of activities and a thick layer to dig her tunnels. She was calm, sweet, curious and never bit anyone, let me clip her nails with no problem. Giving an animal a second chance and seeing it flourish is a great experience.
Wow! I remember watching the old video when it came out and thinking he looked way more healthy and colorful after his first molt. His colors now are somehow even more bold and brilliant! Amazing how love and care can bring him from being in a terrible state to how he is now. Awesome stuff.
Do you think Leon understands what's happening when he molts? Is it scary, or a relief I wonder. He's a trooper and very inspirational in a strange sort of way. Thank you for all you do for him.
He seems to know that's why he becomes more aggressive. He knows he's very vulnerable. As to whether or not he feels fear like we do is unknown. He seems to be attached to his old self as well. Very interesting and fascinating to watch. I really love these videos.
It's definitely a relief when all is said and done. He molts because his insides are literally getting too big for his old exoskeleton. But at the same time, he knows he's vulnerable until his new carapace hardens.
I am so fascinated by Leon's improvements. So glad you saved this little guy. We are leaning so much. I didn't want to eat these lobsters before, and really don't want to now.
That was so interesting especially the slow motion shucking himself out of his old shell. When i watch Leon i know I'll never be eating Lobster. Boiling them alive feel utterly barbaric. He looks so beautiful,so many different colours in his shell. I've learned so much from your videos, thank you🦞
Me neither. Seeing the lobsters piled up with their claws banded in those small tanks at the grocery store is heartbreaking. Thinking about them being boiled alive makes me feel sick.
The molting is almost like a spiritual experience. It is like he is giving birth to himself. There are no words!! The whole journey from the supermarket to now is incredible. Thank you for sharing it with us! ❤
I had to subscribe. I never seen a lobster molt before and your care for Leon is touching. I'm sure most of us watching your videos will never look at lobsters the same way again. His/her hew shell is beautiful.
What a striking and educational video! He is HUGE now. The moment when he actually emerged from the old shell was shocking. What a drama of danger and struggle, but ultimate triumph. Leon is a Phoenix!
Hate to say it - but no wonder lobsters and crabs are caught so easily. This is so interesting. Thank you for this study on Leon xxx Love you saved him!
Leon is The King of Coolness. Appeared to me, that in the minutes following the shedding of his old armor, he kept returning to it, as if he was paying it homage for it's time in service. This ol' gal is in awe, seeing such gratitude from a Lobster named Leon. He is a fine example to us lowly humans. Brady, the content of your videos is a topnotch, fascinating education. Thank You and Leon. I learned that an Octopus displays many emotions, in the movie (My Octopus Teacher), but am now enlightened about the sensitivity and emotion in Lobsters, along with the many other things you show us in these wonderful Leon videos. Again, I say Thank You.
Congratulations to Leon, he's beautiful. And many thanks to Brady for everything he has done to save Leon and keep him healthy, and for giving all of us a wonderful education into a lobster's life. I love the videos, the music, and Brady's comments.
Thank you Brady for showing Leon's second moult. Following Leon's journey is unique and the knowledge that you give is wonderful. Leon looks absolutely spectacular in his new shell and may he moult many times more.
I am so thankful you have taken the time to care for Leon!! I always hated seeing those poor babies in grocery stores!! Thank you again for taking care of this sweetie!!
Can't wait to see more when it comes to comparing his molts! Not weird at all. Research is important. It's how we learn, and it's not hurting him so nothing wrong with it. He's looking great ❤
Today is the Leon's Birthday! Happy Birthday Leon! I want info you Leon is an Aries and a Gemini! Very Cool! That because his 1st molt was on April 01 of last year, so Happy Birthday Leon! 🎂♈️♊️
Ever since I was a little kid when I saw the lobster and crab tanks in grocery stores I wanted to do this. I remember back then thinking they were for pet adoption and embarrassing my dad because when he told me what they were really for I started crying loudly in the middle of the store. Lol! So glad to see Leon thriving. I'm always telling people about his videos and they think it's kind of funny at first until they watch them and end up getting invested too. We all love Leon at my house! Congrats on his second molt!
Leon is the best ambassador for lobsters all over the world. Hope things change and more care and compassion is given by people for this humble creature 🥰
Not going to lie, watching Leon go through his molt was sort of distressing. But it is the cycle of life for him, and he came through shiny and bigger. You got some amazing photography here, Brady. I do not envy you being awake and staying up to film some of it!
I, too, was stressed out watching Leon go through his molt. I found myself holding my breath a few times. 😯 I was so relieved when he was finally free of his old shell. 😅
I can’t bear to think about what it feels like for them being boiled alive 😢 I love to see Leon living a better life than the one he was destined for, on a plate. It’s been a great informative and close up look on a lobster so far and looking forward to many more. 😊
I've always been vegetarian (well since my mom read me Charlotte's Web around 6 and then took me to Austria to her farming village!!). As a child growing up in New Orleans I remember when my family or neighbors would have "crawfish boils", I would always steel one or two and bring them to the levee and set them free. I think, without being preachy, Brady and Leon have probably saved many lobsters and maybe even other animals. Maybe even crueler then being boiled alive is being starved with claws tied together (imagine being starved with handcuffs) for weeks? months? Leon was probably broken and wishing for death when he was chosen from the tank and voila, he's a star of the internet, living the life, given treats regularly and getting better and better digs.
You are doing some important work in having people learn and appreciate these extraordinary creatures 👍 It’s like he’s laying in his back kicking his pants off 🙂
I’m sure I’ve said this before, but isn’t he incredibly beautiful colours? He is amazing, and we learn so much from your narrative. I would never ever eat lobster again.. (actually I’m vegetarian but only for 5 years so far). I’m ashamed for my diet in the past. Than you so much for sharing his life with us..❤

My eyes swelled up with tears when you pointed out the sensitivity of his shell and what this amazing creatures suffer when they are boiled alive, literally torture, I will never sit on a table where this is served and will always be loudly against this inhumane form of torture.
Leon is such a beautiful creature, and you are a great man. Thank you for this series.
Absolutely with you on that x
Yeah, it's been debunked that they don't feel pain when boiled. Just took a few centuries to figure that out. *shakes head*
Its the only way to safely eat them
@@DiscoDevil197 incorrect information. As a chef and restaurant GM, I prefer putting them in the refrigerator to slow them down and/or a quick knife thru the brain. Never live boiling or steaming. But personally, I dont eat lobster or crab.

Leon is so inspiring and I found the molt deeply spiritual and reverent, even seeing him going back to it right after he shed it
Yes agree ...spiritual and reverent ...God's creation is just wonderful
Same , powerful to see what happened to us when born again and our old nature dead
20:50 Leon is so beautiful here. He truly is a survivor, and a big ole beast. The colors on him are so vibrant. Glad he made it through the molt.
I'd have never imagined I'd be so engrossed and invested in the day to day activities of a lobster, but I've been here the whole time! God bless you, Brady. Thank you from Warner Robins.
Ahhhh cool! You’re practically Leon’s neighbor. ✌️✌️✌️🦞
@@Bradybrandwood Yes sir. Transplant from Yorktown, Va.
I remember someone saying that crustaceans and arachnids come from similar origins ...😊
@@layercake2368 yes they did!
Makes sense to me. Your scorpion is just a few generations away from Leon and other lobsters
They are like the spiders of the ocean ☺️
I love how after molting Leon come to his shell, put his claws on it like "Here buddy, everything is okay", and gone to rest. Almost made me cry
To see Leon sitting by his old shell at 12:25 is quite a powerful image. He is fresh and reborn, saying goodbye to his old self. How many of us get to do that?
Us Christians do 👍
Well, like most humans I never quitted my body for a fresh new one. I guess I never got the occasion of sitting by my old skin...
Eat that lobster
Once you're saved, you're reborn
@@JohnWick-vb9pc eat your gf- oh wait, you don't have one 😂😂😂
Leon could potentially live forever in his current climate. This story could span generations!
IIRC lobster can grow up to 80 years in age. so its a lifetime job if you get one as a pet. ^^
Actually in the wild they can live to be 100+
@@nvgboiyes6386 That would be an extreme outlier. Generally they're believed to live about 45-50 years. What's interesting though is that they don't really age like other animals do. The limiting factor to their lifespan is the moulting process. The bigger they get the more energy it takes, so eventually they reach a point where they die from exhaustion during a moult.
I am becoming a midwife and seeing this made me cry, it was just like a baby birth, it made me so happy.

Great news that remember save lobsters because they are very similar at humans, love your message eh. 🙏🏻💙🦞
They feel pain but cannot comprehend the experience.
@Kevin Griggs how do you know? you just assume that cuz they cant randomly start talking to you in english and making human expressions
=> ' I truly wish better living conditions were required for these creatures' These intelligent creatures shouldn't be there in the first place with their claws all taped up. I sincerely hope there are less lobsters being boiled alive since Brady rescued and introduced us to Leon.
They're bugs.
I love how Leon looks so healthy
Never have I ever cried over a lobster and been so proud of one either

Leon is living and thriving because of you. ❤ Thank you, Dad! 😊
Love nutrition exercise and a few friends has really brought him to a great place
When I lived in Florida I would catch Florida lobster sometimes I would come across a few molted shells it was very interesting never seen one mold but thank you to you now I know how it's done thank you
I just commented something similar on a dog groomers videos. Just... People caring so deeply for another being. I'm not going through a great time so it's nice to be reminded people can care

@@asadovesoacrowWe've all been there. Hang in there! Always darkest before the dawn.
How weird it would be if humans moulted. You'd have to book time off work for it. "I can't come in today, sorry. I'm still feeling pretty vulnerable and my eyesight isn't 100% yet."
We'd get two birthdays as well, which reminds me:
HAPPY REBIRTHDAY LEON! ❤
Never thought I'd be crying over a lobster - it really was as if he were saying goodbye to his old self... some deep philosophical stuff in there.
Great photography as always, Brady. Honoured to be on this beautiful journey with you and Leon
At that point it wouldn’t be weird at all, it would be normal.
We kind of do dust is skin flakes.
Can you imagine how creepy it would be having the skin of our old self to dispose of.
That was one of the coolest videos I've ever seen.
😅😅😅
It would probably be wildly more stressful for Leon to be touched at all at that point knowing how vulnerable he is :(
Leon's new look is incredible, I love his lava coloured spikes on the claws.
Brady is a cat rescuer, so there is that! (Admittedly cat rescue is more mainstream than adopting lobsters!)
When you are able to love all creatures, it is a sign your soul is maturing. I think Leon is teaching us all something about ourselves.

@@danielled8665 perfectly put!
It's definitely a relief when all is said and done. He molts because his insides are literally getting too big for his old exoskeleton. But at the same time, he knows he's vulnerable until his new carapace hardens.
It's so interesting how protective and attached he seems to his old shell like he's saying goodbye to an old friend
What beautiful, noble creatures lobsters are. I never truly appreciated that before. Thank you, Leon. Thank you, Brady. ❤
I am so fascinated by Leon's improvements. So glad you saved this little guy. We are leaning so much. I didn't want to eat these lobsters before, and really don't want to now.
I was a HUGE shellfish eater. I stumbled on Leon’s first video and I’ve never eaten shellfish since..
That was so interesting especially the slow motion shucking himself out of his old shell. When i watch Leon i know I'll never be eating Lobster. Boiling them alive feel utterly barbaric. He looks so beautiful,so many different colours in his shell.

I have stopped eating fish completely, not solely because of Leon but he absolutely contributed to my decision!
Me neither. Seeing the lobsters piled up with their claws banded in those small tanks at the grocery store is heartbreaking. Thinking about them being boiled alive makes me feel sick.

I agree, it is barbaric.
leon looks happy! thank you for updating us.
