I think it's just the blue bucket highlighting the blue in him. But it is pretty. Maybe Brady needs to put a blue backing on the back of the tank to bring out Leon's features when he's on camera. Lol

Yup, always soothing, I know the feeling and then always a Leon Video seems to drop like clockwork, Same with "Walter Santi" and his cat stories ,I follow
I’m with you. We too had a rescue lobster for about 18 months. Unfortunately he didn’t survive a shell change for some reason. He was just as much of a pet as our dog. 🦞
many are not taken care of with interest and love, neither do they usually have the benefit of being the sole focus of their caretakers, often resulting in wrong sized equipments and maybe lack of specialized saltwater equipment. many simply bypass a water chiller due to costs. or forgets to check up on the salt ballance in the tank regularly(once per day) saltwater can be hard to keep running in itself, add such a big impressive species as a lobster and most give up pretty fast.
Brady is doing an awesome aquarium level job of maintaining a life for him. He knows what he’s doing and in a result Leon looks GREAT! Leon isn’t a TH-cam experiment he’s Brady’s shell baby and it shows ❤
@@brittanytakenaka8411 he does a 1000 times better job than many "aquarists" that just buys what the clerk say goes well without researching themselves. truly a hobbyists inspiration.
@@inquisitorwalmarius6650 I can agree to an extent. I grew up lobster fishing (trapping) in Maine and have heard of conservation efforts to keep lobsters in captivity and to help them reproduce in order to restock the waters, like a fish farm. I think it is a combination of a “difficult “ animal for captivity and also if you could successfully farm them on a mass scale it would flood the shell fish market bringing down the value of lobster. I have never honestly investigated this personally so my opinion is just my opinion
@@BrassMtnthe shell fish market is so profitable I doubt anyone will be able to manipulate it through mass production like that. It would be extremely hard to do, and definitely upset the current nature of the trade
Wow, can't believe how big Leon's claws have gotten since you first got him..that is amazing! He looks so good & healthy, he must be the happiest lobster alive
The photography of Leon, the shrimp, crabs and the cats is exemplary. Having beautiful documentation of these magnificent creatures is a gift you have shared Brady.
I forget which species of crab it is, but when it's time to molt, they gather together in great numbers. They then take turns shedding to protect each other. Those with stronger shells are on top, while those who just shed or are in the process of doing so are on the bottom of the pile. It could very well be protection on the part of the larger crab.
Waoo look at the first claw and the one he has now 😮 The blue color he has gotten is so pretty. He is thriving 😊 Yes it looks like the bigger crab is protecting the smaller one. 😊 Big hugs from Denmark 💝🌹🥰
All lobsters are the dreamboats, you can became better World if you have lobsters like pets, because lobsters are pets like cats tbh I can know some similiarities of the character with cats and lobsters yeah🙏🏻💙🦞🐈
❤ Wow! That interaction between the small crab going to the big crab looking for safety and the big crab protecting the small crab with his claws is really amazing. It teaches so much about the species and that they also have feelings and reactions. The small crab obviously felt threatened and was scared and looking for the big crab for safety was adorable.
I'm not sure it was actually protecting the small Crab. It raised and open its claws when it saw the small Crab approaching, which makes me think it was actually preparing to defend itself. However, it didn't attack the small Crab when it hid under it, which I find odd. Most crabs are highly defensive and would attack another Crab that got too close.
It doesn't hurt to look at them that way, but it is worth remembering that thoughts and feelings are mediated by hormones, neurotransmitters, and patterns of synaptic connections. The anatomy and physiology of a crustacean's nervous system is so drastically different from our own that we can do ourselves (and them) a disservice by projecting our own desires and motivations onto them. I'm not sure how much effort crabs even invest into their young once hatched, but I doubt it is very much so I would be genuinely shocked by a parent/child relationship like that. I know there are animals with sexual dimorphism that has one sex being significantly larger than the other, so maybe the big crab was protecting its supply of sperm or eggs if it was protecting at all.
Shore crabs hide under rocks when they are scared. The bigger crab probably looked like a rock at first glance, so the little one went to hide under it. The larger one may have not attacked because was keeping an eye on the human (the bigger threat).
You could almost hear him thinking: "A blue tub?! This is boring. What did I do to deserve this?" And after 12-or-so hours: "Well it's about *time* I got back to my own place...but wait. *You rearranged all of my furniture???!*" I'm glad to see everyone surviving and thriving so beautifully; thank you for sharing with us.
Leon is such a beautiful creature. The footage of him at 17:04 is so crystal clear, you can see the stunning colours and patterns on his body. His tail, in particular, is resplendant.
@@MikeR65 There's no magic to human personalities, they're as much a product of evolutionary biology as any other animal's, we just happen to have more complex ones as a result of our more complex brains, and we often delude ourselves into thinking that our personalities are somehow metaphysically different from our instincts. Conscious thought is an instinct, just a more complex one than the subconscious "monkey see, monkey do" responses that we usually associate with the term 'instinct'. Now, where we draw the line of acceptable callousness is subjective, as we too need to consume other life forms in order to survive, whether flora, fauna or fungi; so you're free to tell yourself whatever you need to for the sake of your own peace of mind. But it doesn't change the underlying truth that in the end, it's an artificial division made up by us, which we are placing on what's in reality a sliding scale of complexity. Hope this clears it up.
@@michasokoowski6651Please don’t insult your own intelligence by comparing lobsters to humans. They are not capable of anything other than simple instinctive action. No emotion.
Catching up on the life of Leon, and loving every second! Just in case you don't know, this video didn't make it into the "all episodes" playlist. I found it in your videos tab though, so it isn't a big deal. Just happy to see how well Leon is doing since being rescued and adopted. ❤❤
Does he know they're in the store to be consumed by us, and how they're burned alive. Don't let your kid grow up in fantasy land. Explain how some people keep them as pets too, but do explain both sides to the story. Not only that, humans aren't even suppose to eat any kind of shellfish. Under God's food laws that is.

the fact that this lobster was saved from a grocery store back in 2021 and lived since then just makes me happy, because i watched the first video back when it got released in a night where I couldn't sleep because of my new and first covid shot. I've followed along his journey and check back in here and there to see if there are any news to his life and story now being a pet in a safe place. And oh yes, he grew bigger.
I wonder if he has enough of a memory or the kind of thinking that would enable him to basically have lobster PTSD… Or maybe I’m just anthropomorphizing, but it’s be fascinating to k ow wether or not lobsters are capable of that type of complex thought!
@@katehucks774 Personally i think they are. Today i read a story of a parrot who asked a human what colour he was. Leon's so huge now! and so are the kitties! Who knew Jet would become a gorgeous long hair? When the little crab hid under the big one, it sure did seem like a parent and child situation. many are not taken care of with interest and love, neither do they usually have the benefit of being the sole focus of their caretakers, often resulting in wrong sized equipments and maybe lack of specialized saltwater equipment. many simply bypass a water chiller due to costs. or forgets to check up on the salt ballance in the tank regularly(once per day)
saltwater can be hard to keep running in itself, add such a big impressive species as a lobster and most give up pretty fast.

Spider crabs!
They even protected the spy crab in their midst!
@@RepentandbelieveinJesusChrist5 repent to the Crab God

Many crabs can only mate after shedding. It might be a crab orgy.
Waoo look at the first claw and the one he has now 😮

really is beautiful! how all lobsters should have the chance to be
My goodness, what a dreamboat Leon has become! ❤
Superlative lobster care, dear Brady👏
"DADDY THAT OTHER CRAB BULLIES ME 😭"
"Ok little one, papa will protect you"
It doesn't hurt to look at them that way, but it is worth remembering that thoughts and feelings are mediated by hormones, neurotransmitters, and patterns of synaptic connections.
Oh no, he found the secret snack stash! Going to have to start over, oh well
Leon is such a beautiful creature. The footage of him at 17:04 is so crystal clear, you can see the stunning colours and patterns on his body. His tail, in particular, is resplendant.
We all love you for saving Leon, and letting us see his progress since then!! Thank you for being an amazing person!
It's amazing that even lobsters, crabs, and shrimp have little personalities I've learned so much watching you. Thank you. ❤
no they do not have personalities they are acting instinctively.
@@MikeR65 piss off
@@MikeR65 A lot of personality traits are exactly that, just pure instinct XD
No emotion.
