BBQ Quail on the Weber Grill and Marinated Porterhouse Steak Fail

  • In this video, I try barbecuing some quail on my Weber charcoal grill for the first time. These grilled quail turned out great but the marinated porterhouse steak I cooked with them was too vinegery tasting. These quail took about 15 minutes to cook with the lid off of the grill. +Cheryl K (CherylsHomeCooking) I really enjoyed the quail. The red wine vinegar marinade tasted really good with the quail but it was just too strong tasting for the steak.

    I don't think I've even *seen* a quail since 20 years ago hiking up Pikes Peak. Now I'm all curious about whether or not they can be had around here!

    Jim, you look like you were born for the outdoors with the camo outfit and shotgun on your shoulder! If I remember correctly, quail is sweeter, more tender and more flavorful than chicken. The quail meat looked luscious when you cut into it! Did your wife try it, and if so, did she like it?

    • @TosTinManEasyCooking
      @TosTinManEasyCooking  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Juanelo1946 You're right John! Quail is more flavorful than chicken in my opinion. My wife wasn't feeling well so I couldn't convince her to try it. Maybe next time!

    I've never had Quail before are they completely dark meat? What temp should they come up too? Sorry about the steak :( But Happy Friday the 13th! Tc & TFS :))

    • @TosTinManEasyCooking
      @TosTinManEasyCooking  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kulinary Kreations By Kelly These seemed to be darker meat than the California Valley Quail I used to get around here. These were all dark meat. I pulled them off of the grill at about 150 degrees. They get really tough if you over cook them.

    Red meat as beef should be more tasty roasted only in salt.......I prefer to feel the original taste of the beef.In my opinion a lot of condiment disguise the real flavor of the beef, on the other hand white meat as birds get perfect with these seasonings.

      the breast are small because they never got to fly. that's what i think.

    • @TosTinManEasyCooking
      @TosTinManEasyCooking  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That makes sense. I'm sure that they're farm raised and I don't know what variety they are.
