A great little cameo of Seletar Camp where I had the privilege to serve in the Royal Air Force from 1959 - 62. I love the continuing Singaporean commitment to excellence, and positive pride in achievement. This nostalgic look back at the history reminds me of the happiest of times serving my country, and making the best friends with whom I am still in touch and have been privileged to visit on several occasions. I look forward to the next time and seeing Seletar again. Thank you for posting this great little video.
Amanda, if you see this msg. I am your BMT instructor in Tekong Viper Company. Glad that you have grown from than, to who you are now. Keep working hard. Cheers.
I was there in 35 SCE from 1989 to 1991, and then reservist in 351 SCE all the way until I MR in 2010. Nearly died during Candace bridging training, especially carrying this huge thing called the articulator (tua peh kong) in chest high murky water in the wet gap. Those were the days...
After our POP, most of my NS recruit batch was posted to Seletar East Camp as AA Gunners around Feb 1971. Our formation sign was an Eagle insignia. We were told then that we were the pioneer batch trained as AA gunners at this camp.
The SADC(before it become RSAF) has its 1st. technical training institute, SAFTECH in West Camp. Located alongside SAFTECH was SAFGU and SAMCO. Hangar 500 used to house some disbanded RAF aircraft for practical. SADC 1 st. helicopter 120 Sqdn. started next to SAFTECH hangar. Over to East Camp. SADC 170 Sqdn (Bloodhound Missile) was located near the swimming pool. Did not see the information mentioned
I think the they ment the British "RAF" the British is an emphasis on the on the origins.. so as not to be confused with the Thai Royal air force and other "Royal" air forces around the world.
This is 2021, no longer the colonial days. Many people may not understand the meaning "Royal Air Force" anymore. Britain ain't the only monarchy around. Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei also use the word "Royal" for their militaries
Rosleykhalid pioner of SAFTI. I am proud to be the instructar. 4 of my student are general. Countless seniour officer and I am 86 yrs now as they were saying old soldier never die.
