There are many such squatter hideout scattered throughout Singapore. Some are working illegally here while crime is their only profession for most. Therefore, both male and female joggers, bikers etc should not go to those places. You can find them in Lim Chu Kang abandoned farm area, Sungei Kadut Industrial Estate, old railway track, small lanes off Serangoon Road and any forested area etc. The nationalities are a mixture of Malaysian, Indonesian, Burmese, Bangla, Indian, Vietnamese, etc.
The authority should form a unit armed with drones to constantly do surveillance on these places. Sleeper cells consisting of terrorist can be among them. Those hideout in buildup area sleep at five foot walkway or stair landing of hawker centre etc.
Anyway, this can happen due to the incompetent enforcement agencies that exist to collect their paycheck only. The Tekka hawker centre and wet market alone have about 30 percent illegal migrants working there. And, a small group of illegal migrants there will rob, snatch thieves, pickpocketing targeting at tourists.
