Vanlife AUSTRALIA: Better Than We Expected 🇦🇺

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 5 ก.พ. 2025
- As our Australian road trip continues, it’s time to leave our gorgeous park up at The Entrance, in New South Wales, to head further up North towards a region known very well for its wines… oh yes… it’s none other than Hunter Valley! After a lovely drive up, we prepared ourselves for a LOT of wine, but man, we somehow still were under-prepared! What a wonderful way to see more of the Hunter Valley region, all whilst meeting new people, tasting wines, and eating delicious cheeses. When things just couldn’t get any better… we were brought RIGHT back down to earth. The ONE thing we didn’t expect to go wrong on this road trip in Australia happened. What do we do now?

Sorry for the bad news but 8.45 is late for getting woken up by things here 😄 Always someone up mowing a lawn, banging on something early in Summer because its too hot later in the day. And just wait for the birds as you head further north 😅☀
Haha oh yes!! We didn’t think of that!! Of course it gets way too hot later on to do manual work like that 😅😅
The UK can be just like that just because neighbours are very annoying 😂
Especially Larikeet Parrots. Nice looking, but very noisy. Good alarm clocks. 😆😆
@@2Passports1DreamI run a lawn and garden business on the south coast and yeah we start as early as we are allowed which is 7am. Old mate at 845 probably had a job before he got to that tree 😂
@@hilliard665Arizona here in Phoenix and due to 110* to 120* some-if they have no complaints start at 6am but mostly 7am. I watch often Aussie gold hunters and sympathize greatly. Everyone knows colder climes are healthier for us, and I agree! Cheers!🙏🏻🤔❤️
Cliffhanger!!!! Great vid guys, hope it all works out...
Thank you 😍😍
Omg!! what a nightmare and after such a lovely day you had . That lady on the wine tour was hilarious. Can't wait for next next vlog see how you got back in. Thanks guys love your vlogs so much ❤
Hehe Jules was sooooo funny, absolutely loved the tour! 😊 Oh yes, it was definitely a dramatic finish to the day!
Your faces while drinking the red wines..too funny. 😂
I feel like I only slowly grew to love red wine in the past few years after living in Hungary and Spain. I suppose if you try something enough, you can learn to love it!
Nice lil' cliffhanger guys. Judging how this video was actually released, I'm going to assume you made it back in alright. But that seriously sucks. 😂
We just have to keep trying I reckon! 😅 but a little break on red wines for now. I feel like we wasted enough for a lifetime!! Haha yes, we eventually got back in 😍 in the end haha!
With all the bad stuff going on in the world - How great it is to see two young people laughing, smiling and enjoying life during the visit to my country. Love watching your videos.
Thank you so much!! 😍 So happy to be spreading some joy! ❤️
What a cliff hanger guys! That'll sober you up quick after your great wine tasting tour 😮🤗💞
You two sure are troopers! I would’ve been totally leg less after the wine tasting 😂 So sorry that you were locked out of your van 😱 and thanks for sharing this video…….cannot wait for the next one 😊
Hahahaha super intense 😅😅 thank you!
Reminds me of the film where Chewbacca locked Han's keys inside the Millennium Falcon; that too was a wookie mistake.
Hahahaha 😂😂
You might have to use another Australian institution, the NRMA, to get into the van... Looking forward to part 2!
😅😅😅
Wine and cheese...yums! What a wonderful wine tour. Love the tour guide too! She's a jewel indeed...that's her name according to the English subtitles!
Her name was Jules and yes she’s a legend 😃
Jules was my tour guide when I went August 2023, she is great!
Oh no way! She was literally the hi light of the day for us haha!
@@2Passports1Dream I’m glad you enjoyed the wines they are really good. Have fun planning your next trip and stay are out there!
LOL, well it wouldn't be an Aussie holiday without a bit of drama!!! I'm so glad you got to try some of the world's best wines.
Hahahahaa!! Oh yes we loved it (especially the white and rose wines 😉)
Yes You can hear each other if you have "conversational Awareness" switched on!@@2Passports1Dream
Haha what a throw back! I know two fat blokes, I used to serve their tour groups at Ivanhoe Wines, we usually the last stop and always had some funny drunk characters 🤣 looking forward to the next vid
Hahaha it was brilliant 😍
Crazy to see this video pop up on my recommendations. Blue lagoon is my local swimming spot😅. Glad you're loving it here. We are so lucky❤
Oh no way!! You’re so lucky haha 😍 such a wonderful place - we cannot wait to visit again one day!
I absolutely love the hunter valley and is my favourite place to go in my spare time. If you ever go there again to try wines go to Pepa Tree and Hungerford hill their wines are beautiful but, I’ve also been to all the ones you went to today and are fantastic. I met the owner of the second winery you went to and he is such a lovely down to heart bloke and I loved hearing about how he built his winery
Definitely will add it to the list if we ever go back 😊
Hi Guys
You may remember us - we joined you on The The Two Fat Blokes wine tour (Garth, Jan and Pip from Cornwall). We remember when your motorhome turned against you and decided to lock you out .............
Since meeting you guys we have followed your travels with great interest and whilst we are in our 60's, we find your videos both interesting and informative. So much so that we have now booked a trip to Bali........
Safe travels guys - enjoyed meeting you........
This is incredible!! Nice to “see” you again 😍 Thank you for all your help with the motorhome - so pleased we got back in hahaha!
Have a WONDERFUL time in Bali 😍 All the best!
Bundaburg ginger beer - the best there is ❤️ had one with dinner last night here in England - for sale in large waitrose and sainsbury stores 👍👍 safe travels 👍❌
Oh no way! Amazing 😍😍
When you opened the door that chain saw was loud!! the tour guide was hilarious. look forward to seeing how you get back inside.
Haha it was really loud!! Joules was suchh a brilliant guide 😍 Hehe thank you!
You guys edit and film these blogs brilliantly. So good to watch. Oh, and now I’m craving cheese and wine!
Thank you so much!! 😊
I lived down that way for over thirty years and spent many a happy day around the vineyards. A terrific end to wonderful day, locked out. Time to call the NMRA.
That’s lovely 😃
I been hanging out for this vid to drop all week!
8:45am is pretty late here as you've no doubt discovered, really enjoying the vlogs guys, looking forward to seeing how you managed to get back into the van!
Hehe woooo!! Thank you 😍
Haha it makes total sense now that we think of it… for the workmen to be working when it’s not TOO hot outside 😅
Seniors day out....whoo hoo
Not a fan of wine, just have to smell it & get a headache .✌️✌️✌️✌️ Love the ginger beer !!
Locked out, oh no . Let's hope there's a quick solution.
You two are adorable & so positive don't let it get you down.
Hahahah that’s why I was so scared of drinking too much, I get a hangover so easily 😅
Thank you so much! 😊
Sacrilege haha, because I prefer red wine over white wine 🫣😱😂. But a fun watch😊 But then… cliffhanger - oh no!
Hehe 🍷 It was an intense finish to the day 😅
When you return to Australia, the wineries of wineries is tha Barossa Valley, South Australia. Also, Victoria is known for their quality boutique wines. :)
The Adelaide Hills has a German/Dutch history. Hahndorf is the tourist town. The region is a must experience.
Oh amazing - thank you for the info! 😍
My husband was crying watching you pouring that red wine away! Xx
Sorry hahah 😅😅🍷
Hey guys, most van parks can lend you a power lead if yours is too short. Also we want to see you dry yourselves with the face cloths after a shower... What a hoot. Go buy some real towels or hiker towels from a BCF store.
Downunda - Melbourne Australia
Hahaa you know, the towels totally do the trick 😂😂
Be sure to visit the Hunter Valley botanical gardens in Pokolbin.
Ah, good old Blue Lagoon "resort"! Looks a lot fancier than when I went there as a kid for family holidays. Back then it was just a big campground.
Oh hehe they’ve given it a few upgrades! 😍
Ha Ha That's what happens when you go on a wine tour. 🤣😂🤣 8.45 am !! the day is already half over.
Hahahaha 😅😅
Hey Guys, ❤maybe try a smaller Apollo camper, the have a camping App & how to guide
van life and australian summer... thatd be fun
😄
Great and interesting sharing. I love it as always. Thanks.👍👍👍😍😍😍
Thank you! Cheers!
The coffee shop up the hill across the road from the driveway of that caravan park is good.
Oh thanks! We missed out on it!
Good to see you went to the Hunter Valley. I am lucky I don't live too far from there about 45 mins drive S beautiful place in our world
Such a gorgeous area 😍
I thoroughly enjoyed this vlog. Very funny watching you two pour out the red wines. I didn't enjoy red wines at first, but now I love them. I also enjoyed the cliffhanger. The real life oops let's us know we're all in this together. Blessings to you both, and thank you. These episodes take work and are better than most tv.❤
Hahah I suppose we need to keep trying reds then - maybe they will grow on us! 😅 Thank you so much!! That means a lot 😍
Welcome to the Hunter, if your still in the area, the Valley Brew House is a 5 minute walk away from your camp ground. Their is also a free camp ground in the Town of Branxton which is a 20 minute drive away. Not sure on power for your van. Enjoy your stay.😊
Thank you! 😁
Such a good idea having the van, nice way to travel around and see my home country.
It’s been brilliant!
Oh what a cliff hanger !! I hope one of your neighbours or the park owners could help you get in...or did you have to call a locksmith ?
We've all locked our keys in at one time or another so dont feel bad. I bet you'll never have it happen again ❤
Haha you’re right! We are going to make SURE that it never happens again! 😅 It was pretty stressful 👀 but we managed to get back in!
You two are so hilarious at the wine tasting. 😂Why doing a wine taste when you don't like wine? Those faces when tasting red wine. LOL
We like wine…! Just not red 😂 we thought maybe we’d just been trying the wrong red wines - turns out we just don’t seem to like any haha!
Cried when you guys dump the wines!
@@2Passports1Dream ah.... red wine... then next road trip you'll definitely need to go to Barossa, South Australia
Interesting this popped up, glad it did, I love seeing tourists enjoying visiting our wonderful nation. Australia is a great place for road trips, many little small towns etc to visit. I generally do road trips instead of fly anywhere. If you do come back, I suggest heading out west, and the other side of the Blue Mountains, to places like my little town Oberon.
Thank you for the suggestion!! 😍
There are about 140 vineyards in the Hunter Valley. A lot to get through!!!
More sparkling wine please 😄
So awesome! Great Ep. Cheese, wine and possibly a lesson of what to do when u get locked out! Looking forward to next one 👍🏻
Hehe can’t go wrong with cheese and wine (unless it’s red, apparently 😂😂🍷)
Guys This was one hilarious wine/cheese tour I’d definitely join even though I don’t like cheese and I’m vegan 😂 and I don’t drink much 😂. The tour guide she’s awesome. 😊😊👋👏👏
Hahahaha oh yes she made the tour soooooo funny!! We aren’t big drinkers but luckily we are VERY into cheese haha!
@@2Passports1Dream was definitely one of my favourite episodes 🤣.
Bundaberg is a city in northern Queensland. It’s pronounced “bun-da-berg” as in bread bun.
We have lots of great fresh produce, so you can make some wonderful salad bowls and get lots of colourful vegies into you!
Bloody love it!!
I did the same tour and I agree it was one of the better ones I have done. Glad you had fun.
Amazing isn’t it! 😍😍
When I first started on wine I didn't like red either but it grows on you. Just let it breath for a while and you love it. Small sips.
We will keep trying! 🍷
I do love a wine, but like you I am not a great fan of red wine, although I find them quite pleasant in the cooler months. However in summer, just give me a good rose. riesling, pinot gris etc. and I'm very happy.
The wine tour was incredible but the host was extra and a gem! I love extra and she shines🌟so funny-nope-still a video 🤣as a retired server/bartender I relate since having a very rich regular who was lovely until you poured a red next to her lol. Bah she’d go loudly YOU HAVE PISSPOOR TASTE!!! 🤣I had to move clients regularly! But..if you drank champagne or trialing or a Pinot Grigio she’d buy your lunch and tell great stories. I’d forgotten and you reminded me-thanks! I daresay I’ve gotten into habit of keys in my pocket automatically for self preservation coz I’ve done the same! $150.00 for two seconds to pop the lock!!! Car home office it’s outrageous 🥹I always enjoy your travels safe journey-all keys in pocket! 🙏🏻then autocorrect changes my legit wine gah!!! RIESLING!!!
She was absolutely FANTASTIC! 😍 hahaha oh my goodness, that’s hilarious 😂 the fact that you even had to move people at times loool! This made us chuckle 😂😂 thank you!
Welcome to Australia guys. Wait until you get to South Australia. Even more wineries.
Ooooh 😍😍
Hello you 2 I'm English been living in Sydney for 11 years been travelling all around NSW, Victoria and Queensland on me motorcycle 4 days here 6 days there and still haven't even touched the sides of this beautiful country. Hopefully your enjoying it there's so much to see
Oh yeah there is SO MUCH to see!! 😍
Love your videos, so sorry you got locked out
Thank you!! Aha yeah it wasn’t a great way to finish a lovey day!
You two make great videos and not all trips will come off perfect but its an experience will not 4get, and im a born Aussie that also loves travelling as does my wife whether Europe or our great country of Australia. Good show 😊😊
Thank you! So true, the ones with a bit of drama always become more memorable 😍
Nice to see you made it to the beautiful Hunter Valley i live about 5 minutes away from were you stayed. Bugger about the van self locking you would have though they would have explained that before you took it
Hahaha we wish we would have known 😅😅
shoulda bought an extension lead while you were at Tuggerah where u got the face clothes / towels, and maybe a small/cheap kettle? Loving the positivity guys! OH NO, got to the end ...
We didn’t want to buy any extra things just to get rid of them when we continue travelling! 😊
Cliffhanger, I love it.
Also, did you say shedload? Love that too, gonna steal it.
Haha yes I did!! Thank you 😀
Wines are like cheeses and coffee, there are many types, blends and flavours, and it takes a lot of exploration and taste bud maturity to understand each one and which types you prefer.
True! We are not quite there yet
Love your videos! Can’t wait for the next episode to see how you get in! 🤔
Hahahah thank you!! It was pretty intense for a moment 😅
Nice episode. I enjoyed touring the Margaret River wineries in WA the most. Some of those looked lovely. The key to having a nice day is the 🔑
That’s so true! Thank you 😍
Yeah sorry guys most trades work from 7am - 3:30pm we get it going early, it is daylight by like 5am over the daylight saving period. Any other day you wouldn't have been bothered by it. That awning over the entrance to the van park is really a terrible idea though. Seems like the only purpose it serves is to keep the rain off you while you get access to the place. They need to leave the boom gate on the side in an upright position when they leave if they are going to be unstaffed and uncontactable after business hours
Love the video! I hope you guys sort it out. Some hurdles but will be a memorable experience.
Thank you!! Ahah so true, a little bit of drama here and there means we will never forget this!! 😍
hope you made it to the blue mountains 😀
We did 😍😍
always invert the Bundaberg Ginger Beer before opening. It is brewed and needs it. Actually says it in small print on the front label.
Whoopsie, cheers!!
My heart sank for you when you realised that you'd locked yourselves out. That's such a horrible feeling. And after such a nice day.
Glad you had such a good time in the Hunter Valley. I grew up in Cessnock, which you probably drove through on the way to Nulkaba.
Looking forward to the next video.
Pahaha from a very high to a very low, you can almost tell we both froze up trying to compute what just happened 🥲😅
I love wine I was cringing when you tipped it away lol😅
Sorry!! 😅😅
The tour guide was so lovely
She was great!!
Love watching you both. Did you know that you can get an extension power cord for the van. You will need to get the right one but a caravan and camping store will help. Enjoy Australia!
Thank you 😊😍
I hardly believe you need to save money, but I've heard there is a long list of free camping sites, Australia wide, that are full of characters you might like.
We definitely do hehe! Thank you!! We didn’t know 😅
Bit of a tip with towels, go to a camping store and get micro fibre towels, they pack up small and dry fast, ideal for travelling.
Ah yes that’s a good idea!!
I've been to so many wine tours in the Hunter and I never knew what those silver bowl things were for. Feeling very unclassy now.
Hahahahaah we double checked before poured the first one out, incase they were ashtrays 😂😂😂
No doubt you will stop at Byron Bay on your trip. Make sure you stop in at Lennox Head 1st. Its just south of BB and has a wonderful freshwater tea-tree lake 50 metres from the ocean. There's a van park right next to the lake, with a short walk to the shops. Buy a Humble Pie (cauliflower and cheese) pie at the local bakery. They are DEVINE.
Lennox is less touristic too.
Another nice little stop just north of Byron Bay is Brunswick Heads. Lovely little town without the tourists that flock to Byron.
@@JB-zs1oq Yep. Brunswick Heads is great. So many Scrub Turkeys!
You ever been to Evans Head Point in low tide? It's like Hanging Rock with no chance of falling to your death.
One of my favorite places in OZ.
Thank you for the suggestions 😍
@2Passports1Dream If you're heading towards Byron Bay, it might be worth a detour to Bellingen (check out the Old Butter Factory there) and also the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre if you have time.
@@petethundabox5067 I have certainly spent some time in Evans Head, but I don't recall being at the Evans head Point at low tide. As a student many many years ago we had optional 5 day swimming camps during which we trained and did life saving awards. Evans Head is like so many northern NSW beach towns is a great spot in which to grow up or to visit for a day or for longer stays.
What an amazing wine & cheese tour you made there! A pity I wasn't around - I prefer red wines ;-) The lady was so funny and you had such an amazing day, BUT..... Locked out!!!!
It went from amazing to somewhat chaotic 😅🍷 but it just makes for a memorable day!
Too bad you guys didn’t make it to Shoal Bay which is just north of Newcastle. Although it’s sort of out of the way it’s truly an amazing series of gorgeous beaches and sheltered bays.
We will have to come back again 😍😍
Look , I wanted to point this out with your last campsite when the electric cable wouldn't reach, but I didn't and now you've done it again. If you just park "nose in" then you'll have an extra (approx) 2 metres of cable because the outlet is on the other side.
And, also, Bundaberg Ginger Beer is the bomb.
We’ve always been told elsewhere to park nose out so that you can leave quickly in an evacuation! 😅 it’s in our blood now haha!
Oh my goodness 😂😂😂 your faces with those red wines were brilliant!
Hahaha 😅😅 impossible to hide
Hunter Valley yay, ahhh welcome to my backyard...
Gorgeous place!! 😍
Hope everything is OK. ❤
❤️❤️
I was literally at Blue Lagoon resort this morning... haha. Stayed in a cabin though. There for the last 4 nights.
Oh awesome!! The cabins looked so nicely located right by the water 😍
I sense a broken window coming up. Great vid guys.
😂😅 thank you!!
Welcome to Australia - I am glad you enjoyed your time in my city of Sydney. Make sure you go to the Blue Mountains (1.50 mins from the city centre) & Wollongong...about the same amount of time. Also Jervis Bay at Hyams Beach....So much to do & see in NSW 😎😎
Blue mountains, coming right up 😍😍 Thank you!
@2Passports1Dream It literally just appeared on my TH-cam feed 🤦🏽♂️😅
Yes Mollymook Beach too
1.5 hours isn’t it? 😅
@@kismetau No..from the actual city centre it would take 1.50 mins. I live in the inner west, 20 mins by car to the city, so for me it is 1.30 hrs. going to the Blue Mountains. It depends where you leave from. Train might be faster, 1.30 mins from the city...
FYI Bundaberg grow their own Ginger and the area is large Sugar Cane growing district. So you are getting the best with any Bundy Product !
Absolutely incredible! The best ginger beer we have ever had, hands down!
You guys remind me of me. I have never been a wine drinker. I could only drink sweet white wines in my 20s but now at 49 I enjoy any white. Red still too strong but growing on me. Vineyards still not my goto holiday activity tho.
Hahahah oh yes we can relate a lot! We only just started enjoying whites last year 😂 before it was only sweet rose wines 😅
Wow, I stayed at Blue Lagoon with my parents when I was a kid. Hunter Valley is a popualr area. One that's a but out of the norm is Small Forest in Denman. It's run by a Japanese vintner and their wines are lighter and tasty. Great quality video! thanks
Oh that’s so lovey!! 😍
Great video. How things turn out ok with being locked out of van. Looking forward to next week's video
Hehehe it was a stressful moment 🥲😅
That wine tasting host was brilliant!!!
She was AMAZING!
Sorry about locking yourselves out but you gotta admit it makes for great viewing!
Hahaha it sure does 😅 keeps us on our toes moving forward haha
Australian red wines Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvions are very earthy compared to many Californian, French and NZ reds, once you get a taste for them few others compare, (maybe Chilean reds, Yum) especially price for quality!
NZ whites are hard to beat though Australia does many excellent whites that compare well also.
Our soils produce very deep full bodied reds, compared with crisp lighter Pinots of NZ.
That ending 😮😮😮
😅😅😅
Bundaberg Ginger Beer with RUM in it is amazing good!! Its called a " Dark and Stormy " 😉🙃
PS 8:45 am is LATE in the morning 😂
Sounds goood!!
How funny to see you driving on roads I am on regularly (I was at Westfield Tuggerah 2 days ago lol)
No way!! Haha 😛
Are you guys still in Sydney? You should visit the Sydney fish market in Pyrmont and the buffet lunch/dinner at Epicurean, Crown.
We aren’t in Sydney anymore! Thank you though!
Up the road from that caravan park was a local shop centre..where you can do grocerys and but towels etc at Kmart.
Oh!! Haha whoops!
I can't believe that they gave you a motor home without an awning.
Ahwwww that would have been cool to have!
Hope you guys were ok. But what a great video once again. I love you guys so much. Please please please do a red 🍷 wine tasting again sometime...The facial expressions were priceless 😂
Hahahahaha apparently reds will grow on us, so we will attempt it again… one day
Melbourne has some incredible reds.,you two make me laugh so much.
Hahaha not sure we can handle any more reds!
@@2Passports1Dream fair call... NZ while is incredible 💯🌺😊
After such a lovely day. Locked out. Part 11 please😂
Hehehe from the best day to the worst in mere moments 😂😅
Awesome Video, looks true like a great life
It is 😍 Thank you!
Good red wine is delicious. But better to have it in winter when it’s colder I think…
Ah I see - maybe that’ll be a good time for us to give it another shot!
I ñeared it% beautifully over guys so enjoy😊
Welcome to The Hunter Valley 🍇
Thank you 😍
Oh Adriana your in Ozzy land they drink beer and wine there even if the cheese is good
