I'm a Melbournian, and the best advice I can give you is take a day or two to see the city sites, State Library, street art, Queen Victoria Market, The Block Arcade and St Kilda beach. If you have time, visit The Great Ocean Road, I'd recommend about 3 days. If you don't have that much time you could always take a one hour trip from the city to the Dandenong Ranges. There's plenty of walks there, and old steam train called The Puffy Billy, tons of parrots, and small villages full of cafes, bakeries, and antique shops. Enjoy Melbourne.
I used to live in the blue mountains. So many great spots all over. If you had more time it would be great to get out on foot and hike into the valleys and canyons. It’s insanely tranquil and beautiful.
Great video guys. I lived in Sydney for 25 years, and the Blue Mountains were my favourite part of Australia. I'll be taking my son to OZ (and the Blue Mountains) in October from the UK, and I can't wait. It's certainly changed since I was last there - much more tourist orientated
There are a few stories surrounding the 3 Sisters. One of them was, The Aboriginal dream-time legend has it that three sisters, 'Meehni', 'Wimlah' and 'Gunnedoo' lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. These beautiful young ladies had fallen in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, yet tribal law forbade them to marry. The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters causing a major tribal battle. As the lives of the three sisters were seriously in danger, a witchdoctor from the Katoomba tribe took it upon himself to turn the three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. While he had intended to reverse the spell when the battle was over, the witchdoctor himself was killed. As only he could reverse the spell to return the ladies to their former beauty, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock formation as a reminder of this battle for generations to come.
The story I was told as a kid was that they were being attacked by a yowie or a Bunyip, so the witchdoctor turned his daughters into stone to protect them
Ok, so Melbourne will be a very different experience to Sydney…it’s important to understand that Melbourne’s treasures are not as obvious and visible as Sydney’s. Whereas Sydney is big, bold and beautiful with its iconic landmarks and beautiful beaches and harbour, Melbourne is all about subtle treasures. Cool neighbourhoods with amazing cafes and restaurants, European sidewalk dining and hidden, mysterious lanes of shopping and culinary delights. You must by pastries in St Kilda, Vietnamese food in Richmond, Italian in Carlton and so on. Museums and galleries, culture and architecture. The greatest examples of the golden era of Victorian buildings such as the Exhibition Buildings or Flinders Street Station. Of course there is natural beauty in the central highlands, the Grampian ranges, the Great Ocean Road but Melbourne is the introverted, smouldering beauty to Sydney’s wild out there party girl
@@windyhillbomber Sydney has the subtle, hidden treasures too. We also have many ethnic enclaves and food experiences around the city and particularly in the suburbs: Fairfield (Assyrian & Syrian), Granville (Lebanese), Harris Park (Indian), Newtown (Turkish), Artarmon (Japanese), Cabramatta (Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian), Auburn & Lakemba (Middle Eastern, & Bangladeshi, Burmese), Haymarket (Chinese & Thai), Marrickville (Greek), Burwood (Chinese), Lidcombe (Korean), Campsie (Malaysian), Kingsford/Kensington (Indonesian), Ryde (Persian/Iranian), Five Dock / Haberfield (Italian), Strathfield (Korean), Blacktown (mixture, including Indian, Chinese, Thai, Filipino, Ethiopian), etc. Melbourne is not the only multicultural city in Australia.
Nice try….I’ll let the hosts decide which city has the better food scene. Love Sydney but it will never trump Melbourne on multiculturalism and inner city urban cool. You have your harbour, Melbourne has its cool. I guess that’s why is is constantly rated the best city to live in and Australia’s only city listed as one of the ten most culturally important in the world. 😀
I have a photo of me and my brother in the exact same place as you were looking at the 3 Sisters at 13:33. It was the 1960's and the last time I was in that area as I am from another state (South Australia). I have been to Sydney several times, just not back there. I was about 7 or 8 at the time. Nearly 64 now. It is very majestic and it hasn't changed a bit, I can tell you that. I have loved watching your adventures in Australia and hope you have a happy and safe journey to your next destination. I travelled the world too, in 1988, alone and took a few tours along the way. I decided never to go overseas again. I was totally tired of it all, despite the wonders that I saw. Living out of suitcases and being on tours takes a lot out of you. I wish I had done it the way you did it.
Oh wow that’s amazing to hear it’s not changed one bit!! Nice that some things can stay exactly the same 😍 wow - yes living out of bags etc can take it out of you, we are trying to take things slower this year so that we don’t get exhausted! Amazing memories made, though!
@@2Passports1Dream Yes relish the places you visit but slowly is the key. Trying to fit too much into a visit is not only expensive but turns you off travelling. I found I was much more of a homebody after the trip and even though I did a few interstate visits here and there, for the most part I wasn't really interested in travel. Now I have a dog and 3 cats at home that need me so any thoughts of travel are out the window anyway. You enjoy yourself in Melbourne. I am in Adelaide, one capital city away from where you are going. I have been to Melbourne quite a few times as it is cheap and easy to get to for me. You will love the northern markets they have there.
It was a shame that you couldn't do the Anvil Rock lookout. Absolutely stunning in the arvo sun. I hope Melb. doesn't disappoint as the weather and area can be very different to what Sydney offers. If you can, try to do a road trip up into the high mountains through Beechwood and Mount Hotham (hot Ham) - Stunning countryside! Wonderful little townships with some of the best bakeries!

Thank you for taking me back to Sydney and the beautiful Blue Mountains that I visited 15 years ago. It was wonderful to see it all again including the cable car with the glass floor and the Three Sisters. 15 years ago the walkway did not include all the dinosaurs! I think that was a good thing : ). We also did a hike there, I think it was the Devil’s Staircase. I remember it was quite a climb in the heat! Looking forward to the next video and seeing Melbourne again!

The Blue Mountains are just stunning, particularly on a nice day. It's easy to see why they were regarded as a barrier to the inland parts of NSW by the early explorers. I'm so glad you've enjoyed your time in Australia so far. Melbourne definitely has a different vibe to Sydney. Looking forward to the next video.
I grew up in the Blue Mountains. I would have recommended visiting Wentworth falls, Lincolns rock, Hanging Rock, Govetts Leap Lookout and Anvil Rock Lookout. The last two are up a little further and look over into another valley to the east. On a clear day you can see the tops of the skyscrapers in Sydney from Anvil Rock.

Hi..go to the otways rain forest walk its down the great ocean road in Victoria dinosaurs were in the forests ...its bit hot next few days in Melbourne but low humidity..the south winds will come through and it will cool down much cooler than NSW...and less rain in Melbourne..😊
*So jealous of you guys right now - I live here (QLD) and haven't been to half the places you guys have been! Enjoy the rest of your journey and stay safe out there*
Love seeing in Australia!! please come back any time. I've never been to the Blue Mountains. That train was surprisingly fast for 14ks and steep. I don't get how they drive from the back. Enjoy Melbourne I can't wait to see what you get up too.
I lived my teenaged years in Bathurst West of Sydney and travelled through the Blue Mountains back in the 80's. Never knew why it was called the Blue Mountains. Now I know. 🙂
@@Brightangel55 NO, Katoomba does not get a lot of snow! Last winter we had ZERO snow. The winter before that ONE snowfall. The winter before that we had TWO snowfalls. When it does snow, it is usually at night and gone by noon. On rare occasions, like once in a blue moon, it will snow during the day.
I have really enjoyed watching your trip round Australia, looking forward to seeing Melbourne, I have family there who was on the original £10 Poms ship, the first to leave for a new life. Your a lovely couple and you seem so happy, I'm an old man of 57 if I was your age I would love to do what you do, all the best from Pee.
The old photo of the scenic railway is how I remember it when I was a child we would do that fairly regularly and the walk back up the stairs or riding it backwards is a very strange feeling. Was the last Sydney campsite in Lane Cove?
Blue Mountains are magnificent. But surprisingly, not that many tourists venture out from Sydney to see them. Their loss, I guess. And I hope you're driving up to Melbourne because the coastal scenery from Sydney to Melbourne is second to none. (And yes, Melbourbe is up from Sydney because in both hemispheres, the Equator is down and the Pole is up 😊).
As a Katoomba local, it is always disappointing - in a way - that visitors focus on the private, family-owned theme park that is Scenic World, and Echo Point, for their Blue Mountains experience. Everywhere else around it for miles and miles is FREE to enter. For example, if you had crossed the road from where you were camping, you could have started a 15-minute hike down to the base of Katoomba Falls, which you got a glimpse of from way up in the Skyway and/or walked for 2 minutes to get to Katoomba Cascades. Then there's the northern escarpment, which it seems you missed, and the spectacular Govett's Leap, Cliff-top walk, and the Grand Canyon hike down into the rainforest. Next time, OK!?
Barbie...correct 😅 The Blue Mountains are truly spectacular & for us, it's only 1.30 hours away, we go there every 6 months or so. It's a nice day out. I like Melbourne...lack of beaches is the problem 🤔 Sydney & Melbourne are fierce rivals ... FIERCE 😅😅
Thanks ! Melbourne here. L👀king forward to your (first?) visit. I hope you get some good advice on places to Discover. As the Garden State our Botanical Gardens includes the Sidney Myer Music Bowl that many seem to miss. Outside Venue and google will give you the drum. Cheers. 🇦🇺
A camper was not required for blue mountains and hunter valley. Both could have been done as day trips from Sydney. But I guess you preferred the slower pace?
Looks like you weren’t told the cheap hack. You could’ve left the camper at the Senic Railway and walked to Echo Point. Then caught the bus back to the camper.
Glad you enjoyed the click-clack train. I didn't really enjoy the cablecar ride because I have a fear of heights. Two steps up a stepladder is enough for me. Enjoy Melbourne, plenty to see there. I'm actually off to Perth on 23rd March for one of my neice's hubby's 50th. Just another trip to the west from North Queensland. If you are going to the west, you are going to find the flies VERY annoying... *lol* 🪰🪰🪰🪰
Oh lovely!! Have a great time 😍 haha luckily it was enclosed - I have a fear of heights too but only really comes out when I can accidentally jump off 😅 Oooooh the flies get worse??
yep, WA is the place where the "Great Australian Wave'' comes, smaller, but more annoying. No trouble in the winter, because they seem to sleep through it. *lol* You will find out what the Great Australian Wave is soon enough. @@2Passports1Dream
Funnily enough, you can actually opt to ride on the roof of that cable car. It's a reletively recent option, but they put you in a harness and suit similar to the Harbour Bridge climbers, and you go across tethered to the top of it.@@2Passports1Dream
Will you be doing the Great Ocean road drive? that is awesome views. You guys need to stay for a year lol, so much more to see on the North coast of NSW as well. Thats before getting up to North Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef tours.
Watching your vids are making me want to go road tripping again. And exploring new parts of Victoria (as I’m a Melbournian) I’ve never been before. Also where are your yellow and pink pants from you wear in the video?
The eucalyptus tree is fascinating it drops it's paper like barrk during the hottest yearly climate the blue gas emitted is highly combustible....their seeds pop away like popcorn.... without the fires the seed of eucalyptus will not germinate ❤️
Beautiful vlog . If you go to MELBOURNE and visit Wilson’s Promontory . A 3 hour drive SE of Melbourne , if I remember clearly . Beautiful nature and wildlife .
Did you try a Golden Gaytime(ice cream) while you were in Australia? I last traveled the scenic railway in 1982/83 as a child. Back then the train wasn't enclosed but had like a wire mesh over head and nothing to hold you in but the G's and your hands holding on for dear life as it plummeted down, only suddenly jolt with brakes on after the end of the tracks were seen. Screams were often heard and one time, a woman left terrified by the trip down, begged for another way up, which at time, was the only return trip up. That raised walking platform wasn't there. You had to watch your step along the simple dirt track. And all those dinosaurs etc weren't there then. I don't personally understand why they put them there when the area is rich with history, both white settler and first nation's.
Did you notice the Kookaburra laughing when you were putting sunscreen on your legs? May I suggest the next time you have an ice cream here that you try the iconic Golden Gaytime, first introduced when those words had a completely different meaning. Have a great time in Melbourne, it's an exciting city.
Yes, we had dinosaurs in Australia, mainly in the east, though the world’s largest dinosaur footprints to date are in Western Australia. It’s a shame the Scenic World models aren’t local ones as dinosaur fossils have been found in the Blue Mountains area. Happy travels! 😎
aussie van life 2.0..... driving along the coast of Victoria to South Australia.... with a car/van, you can have great time @ SA, Kangaroo Island, Victor Harbour, Mclaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Barossa/Eden Valley, Clare Valley.... as Adelaide itself is quite boring imo... the wine country is just spectacular
It’s a real pity you didn’t have time to do a couple of the free bushwalks that abound in the Blue Mountains. There are some that take you to spectacular waterfalls, along cliff side tracks and deep into rainforest pockets that contrast with the predominant gum trees. On a couple of walks in the mountains I’ve come came across a lyrebird (a native bird that is rarely seen). I have to say it’s sad to see how commercialised the area around the Scenic Railway has become - dinosaurs look ridiculous in that setting, and don’t get me started on the fake noises they make. Must drive the wildlife crazy! One beautiful thing about the Australian bush is the sound of native birds wafting or squawking as you walk. Still, I’m glad people are enjoying our landscapes and, hopefully, encouraging others to trek down under to a country that is like no other. 🇦🇺😎

Oh wow that sounds pretty cool! Yeah, modern safety protocols probably means that it has to be enclosed now, still so much fun though! Thank you 😊
Hi..go to the otways rain forest walk its down the great ocean road in Victoria dinosaurs were in the forests ...its bit hot next few days in Melbourne but low humidity..the south winds will come through and it will cool down much cooler than NSW...and less rain in Melbourne..😊
Looks like Lane Cove National Park. i hope you went down to the river.
Great sharing. I enjoyed watching it and loved it as always. Thanks. 👍👍👍😍😍😍
Thank you so much! 😊
Love watching your adventures in Sydney. Can't wait to see your next adventures in my home town Melbourne. Welcome guys.
Wohoo! Thank you so much 😍😊
*So jealous of you guys right now - I live here (QLD) and haven't been to half the places you guys have been! Enjoy the rest of your journey and stay safe out there*
Thank you so much 😍
I love the mountains. We had a few days up there recently. Great video. Looking forward to your next one. I'm sure you will love Melbourne.
Thank you so much 😍
Love seeing in Australia!! please come back any time. I've never been to the Blue Mountains. That train was surprisingly fast for 14ks and steep. I don't get how they drive from the back. Enjoy Melbourne I can't wait to see what you get up too.
Thank you so much 😍
Such an upbeat and engaging couple! Enjoying your journeys.😊
Thank you so much 😍😊
😃Great job enjoying some of Sydney
Hope you guys are enjoying Australia ❤
Melbourne is a fantastic city with so much to see and do
Enjoy 😃
Thank you!! 😊
You’re having a great time at Katoomba. When I was young there was no roof on the scenic railway. Sorry you have to go home soon. Come back soon 😊
Melbourne is next!! 😍 But we will definitely need to plan another trip in Australia 😊
I lived my teenaged years in Bathurst West of Sydney and travelled through the Blue Mountains back in the 80's. Never knew why it was called the Blue Mountains. Now I know. 🙂
I love Katoomba best in the snow and mist ❤
Ooooooh does it get a lot of snowfall??
@@2Passports1Dream Yes lots of snow - such a contrast to Summer 😊
No. Not much snow. A little bit not much.
@@stephenminney7510 Oh no really ? Last time I was there it was amazing
You made me laugh Adriana when you said shhh to the noise of the dinosaurs 😂
😂😂🤫
@@2Passports1Dream Is that what you say to Dylan when he gets on your nerves sweet young girl 👧
Amazing video 😊you guys are so great to watch ❤thank for sharing your video 😊
Thank you so much 🤗
Loved this video ❤🎉🎉🎉
Yay! Thank you!
I've enjoyed seeing my own backyard through other peoples eyes. thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Wish yaz were staying here longer but hopefully you come back! Thanks for visiting 😀
It’s only the end of van life! We are heading to Melbourne next 😍
Ah wow no way, that’s awesome! That’s very kind of you - thank you so much! We feel so lucky that we are able to travel like this 😍
Great blogs guys. Keep up the great work. And that's a yellow crested Cockatoos😊
Cheers!!! 🙏🏼
You are such a lovely couple! I hope you enjoy your time in Oz
Thank you so much! 😍🇦🇺
The old photo of the scenic railway is how I remember it when I was a child we would do that fairly regularly and the walk back up the stairs or riding it backwards is a very strange feeling.
Was the last Sydney campsite in Lane Cove?
Oh no way!! That sounds fun! Yes you’re right, it was lane cove!! 😊
I'm sorry you guys didn't go down the giant stairway at the three sisters. You would have loved that!
Oh no!! Next time eh 😅
We are actually taking a plane to Melbourne - the van is pretty pricey 😅😅🥲
Glad you enjoyed the Sunday drive. I’ve loved watching you guys but that was very short.
Melbourne is up next! Not leaving Australia just yet!
Next time!! Thank you for making us aware of this, we didn’t know! Appreciate the insight 😍🙏🏼
Nice one guys, looks like you had an awesome road trip in my home state. Enjoy Melbourne, the coffee capital of the world....apparently 😅
😍😍 thank you!! We did 😊
Barbie...correct 😅 The Blue Mountains are truly spectacular & for us, it's only 1.30 hours away, we go there every 6 months or so. It's a nice day out. I like Melbourne...lack of beaches is the problem 🤔 Sydney & Melbourne are fierce rivals ... FIERCE 😅😅
Oh wow, that’s amazing! We wish we could visit more regularly 😍 oh yes, we’ve picked up on that rivalry somewhat 😅
So glad you enjoyed my home town of Sydney.Have enjoyed your Singapore and Sydney trips. You will love Melbourne. Coffee, Coffee, Coffee.
Ooooh coffee coffee coffee 😍 love that! Thank you!
Great video guys thanks for making it
Glad you enjoyed it 😍
Thanks !
Melbourne here. L👀king forward to your (first?) visit.
I hope you get some good advice on places to Discover.
As the Garden State our Botanical Gardens includes the Sidney Myer Music Bowl that many seem to miss. Outside Venue and google will give you the drum.
Cheers. 🇦🇺
Yes it’s our first time!! Absolutely incredible 😍 Australia keeps surprising us! 😊
A camper was not required for blue mountains and hunter valley. Both could have been done as day trips from Sydney. But I guess you preferred the slower pace?
Yeah the slower pace was so much nicer 😍😊
have really enjoyed your road trip and looking forward to what you get to do in Melbourne.
Thank you so much 😍😊
Looks like you weren’t told the cheap hack. You could’ve left the camper at the Senic Railway and walked to Echo Point. Then caught the bus back to the camper.
We didn’t know!! 😅
Glad you guys enjoyed in Aust! See you guys TH-cam in Laos and Thailand! And many different countries! Enjoying and welcoming 👍👍
We have so many places we want to visit 😍
Just FYI for next time 1P = 1 hour parking maximum so you could’ve paid for more than 15mins 👌🏼
Oh gotcha!!
Unfortunately not this time!! We will have to return again 😍🇦🇺
Thanks guys for the video looks like a great place ❤
Thank you so much 😊
Wow, that was epic, l don't know if l could go on the cable car haha or train, well done, you are Aussies now xx
Hehehe so amazing!! 😍
Wow such a fantastic view you two
❤️
1:10 LMAO at the hub intro music!
Hahahahahaha 😂
Beautiful blue mountains 😊
😍😍
Watching your vids are making me want to go road tripping again. And exploring new parts of Victoria (as I’m a Melbournian) I’ve never been before.
Also where are your yellow and pink pants from you wear in the video?
Thanks so much!! 😍 it was so much fun! The pink ones are linen ones from H&M and the yellow ones are from Monki! 😊😍
Looked like a great road trip. I only hope you get to see some koalas during your stay. 🤗💞
The eucalyptus tree is fascinating it drops it's paper like barrk during the hottest yearly climate the blue gas emitted is highly combustible....their seeds pop away like popcorn.... without the fires the seed of eucalyptus will not germinate ❤️
That’s sooooo cool!!!
The three sisters are very sacred to the indigenous people❤️💯
Another comment mentioned the story about them and wow - what a story! 😍
Beautiful vlog . If you go to MELBOURNE and visit Wilson’s Promontory . A 3 hour drive SE of Melbourne , if I remember clearly . Beautiful nature and wildlife .
Thank you for the suggestion! 😊
Dylan shirtless hehe one for the old ladies on Only fans! Thank you for sharing! Really enjoy watching your journey!
Heheheh cheers! Thank you so much 😊
Did you try a Golden Gaytime(ice cream) while you were in Australia?
We didn’t!! Next time - you’re not the first to mention it! 😍😍
@@2Passports1Dream The slogan for Golden Gaytime has long been; You can't have a gaytime on your own. 😆
Did you notice the Kookaburra laughing when you were putting sunscreen on your legs? May I suggest the next time you have an ice cream here that you try the iconic Golden Gaytime, first introduced when those words had a completely different meaning. Have a great time in Melbourne, it's an exciting city.
Ooooooh next ice cream will have to be that one 😍 thank you! 😊
Yes, we had dinosaurs in Australia, mainly in the east, though the world’s largest dinosaur footprints to date are in Western Australia. It’s a shame the Scenic World models aren’t local ones as dinosaur fossils have been found in the Blue Mountains area. Happy travels! 😎
Interesting! We didn’t read them all so maybe we missed them 😂
aussie van life 2.0..... driving along the coast of Victoria to South Australia.... with a car/van, you can have great time @ SA, Kangaroo Island, Victor Harbour, Mclaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Barossa/Eden Valley, Clare Valley.... as Adelaide itself is quite boring imo... the wine country is just spectacular
So many more places we want to seeeee 😍
Thank you great as always ❤
Thank you for watching 😊
Oh yes, we’d much prefer the sound of the native birds - but luckily we did manage to hear and see some at the campsite 😍😊
Melbourne my home, hope you have fun!
Thank you 😍😍
If you sleep through all of Melbourne you won't miss much.. some cafes, parks, dirty river and inferiority complex. Still, there's the rest of your Australia trip for good memories.
Hehehe 😅
Bundaberg passion fruit is the most thirst quenching drink there is.
Great videos
Hahaha so delicious 😍😍😍
Thanks much for the great video !!
Glad you liked it!
Eastern Australia is the most ancient land on earth. (The western side of Australia was once, eons ago, a sea-bed, which it is why it now is mostly desert.)
Oh wow that’s so interesting! 🙏🏼😍
Where was your last camp site in Sydney before flying to Melbourne ?
Lane cove campsite 😀
You guys have done a fabulous job
Australia and its people are beautiful 😍👋🇳🇿
So true 😍
You guys should do a road trip around Australia. You'd get alot of people watching on here. Takes a while though.
Haha that’s very true! 😊 We’d love to explore more of Australia one day!
You will find Melbourne very different to Sydney. Wider streets because of the trams.
Ooooh 😍
