      Amazing fight. Incredible animation. However, I just feel cheated how Yamamoto gets slighted by bosses. There’s no way that Royd should’ve been alive after just shikai. He’s an imposter therefore how could he live to see all four facets of his bankai? It’s just not believable imo. If so he’s a top 5 sternritter. Seeing how Overkill sternritter got taken out with a single swing after killing 100 people and having a stolen bankai.
      I would love to get your thoughts Tommo

      @@talentedtorry_6070 Royd’s power is kinda crazy since he copies every aspect of the person he’s impersonating; their power level, memories, abilities, everything.
      That’s why Yama couldn’t tell he was a fake. Even his spiritual pressure was a dead ringer for Yhwach’s own. Hell, even the other Sternritter didn’t know what was up to until Royd went down and the real Yhwach showed himself.

    The funniest thing is, if Yamamoto got a single hit off on Royd, he'd have won in an instant. It's only because he spent the battle torturing him that it lasted anywhere near as long as it did.
    Also, I don't think it's a problem that they show the confrontation between Aizen and Yhwach. Not only does it really show that they two are not going to team up at all, it also parallels how Shunsui is going to talk to him later. This way, it shows that Aizen joining Soul Society is choice he made and not just some thing that has to happen due to desperation. And, of course, this also means that Anime only fans are going to anticipate the showdown between Yhwach and Aizen because it's already been foreshadowed.

    • @weebenslaver

    The very second Yamamoto’s flames condensed into his blade, I was in awe. Chicken skin and literally jaw dropped. It was done exceptionally well, the lighting, animation, the reaction from other captains, his presence. Something about someone so powerful in the light just gives a totally different vibe. Also when Yamamoto took off and started using his scorched blade I LOVED the addition of the child like and ominous music that starts to play, really gives a sense of wonder of what’s going on and how such a powerful Bankai can look so plain. Well done. Seriously.

      @@mdashrafuzzamansunny2145 True you could argue that. But at the same time one of the big themes with the arc is out with the old and in with the new. Albeit poignant, there is a good message to follow threw with all of this and even Yhwach had to say it that Yamamoto’s pride and naivity got the best of him, the fact he didn’t want Orihime to heal his arm out of pride helped lead to his downfall. When Kyoraku steps in it’s a chance for a student of Yama’s to take a new approach and role as Captain Commander, something the Soul Society hasn’t seen for over a thousand years.

    I think the “shadow time-limit” plot point could be that it hasn’t quite been 9 full years, so maybe Yhwach hasn’t completely regained his full power? Which is why Squad Zero would be an issue for him. He may need to wait another day or two before the 9 years is technically complete, for him to regain his full powers? Yhwach was going to invade SS in 5 days originally, but decided to invade right away once he learned that Ichigo was in Hueco Mundo.

    • @DFTNSHEXGRM
      @DFTNSHEXGRM ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@sipenarekbecha7193 I actually think Yhwach could’ve taken on Yamamoto & very likely won. I don’t think Yhwach would’ve invaded SS much earlier than intended without knowing for sure that he could defeat Yamamoto himself, IF need be. Also he could & DID steal Yamaji’s Bankai. Yhwach placed visiting Aizen as a mandatory priority over fighting Yamamoto - because he was on limited time. Aizen however, I think at this point in the story - Aizen would have been able to overcome Yhwach, - if they were to fight in Muken; right then & there Aizen would win. That’s how ridiculously powerful “Muken” Aizen has become. Yhwach was talking shit when he said he could kill him, but it would take too long. I think Yhwach wanted to avoid a fight with Aizen at all costs for the time being. At least until he receives his power up later on in the story.

    I was in awe while watching this episode. The animation was top notch, the soundtrack was absolutely perfect, the voice acting was so on point.
    The suddenness of his flames vanishing into his blade was displayed to perfection; you couldn't quite get the same feeling from reading the manga.
    Another part that stood out to me was Yamaji's facial expression right before the death blow was delivered. You could really see that he knew his time was up. His facial expression conveyed defeat, regret, and sorrow-- most likely for his fellow shinigami that fell in the battle. This was by far Yamaji's most humanizing moment.

    Theory I had for why Royd was so strong was that after his brother died which was before he met Kenpachi, he got the other half of the yourself schrift making him now able to get the strenght of Yhwach.
    That is what makes the most sense since it's almost like the schrift was split into two.

    Yes!!! Justice done by you, and done by the anime also. To see Yama-ji's Bankai finally was so damn amazing and has really given me even more hope about the rest of the series. I watched this episode about 15 times, I can't get enough. Yamamoto is one of my favourite characters in Bleach (apart from Komamura and Kyouraku) and I honestly feel like I've been waiting ages to see Zanka no Tachi and to see it in such glory was just spectacular.
    I think for ZnT:West, they haven't done a great job by skipping that one line where Yama says "let me show you", but I also feel that Yama didn't use West in the past - and it was just used here creatively?
    Another great review as always - love the insights you bring. The longer the better - if your voice can handle it! Can't wait for more, next week.

    Look, I read the Manga. A few times.
    But after all these years. Seeing the fight play out was still amazing!
    And seeing Yamamoto wake up and choose unyielding violence. MMMM
    Even knowing how it was gonna end, it did not take away from the AWE.
    ALSO!
    I am absolutely in love with the anime for adding onto the Manga and expanding on what we read. We are actually getting more in depth than the Manga, that's rare and I am here for it!
    ALSO ALSO.
    I highly recommend the channel Project Mouthwash.

    In one of the flashback scenes, the one where Yamamoto is talking about Yhwach's broken sword, you can see Chojuro standing on top of the mound of quincy corpses behind Yhwach, looking down at him from behind while the head captain is in front.
    Just thought it was a really cool detail that Chojuro, seemingly, helped put down Yhwach personally in their first battle!

    i love how after i watch the episode i look forward to your in-depth analysis...really good stuff.... with Ywach (Royd) not remembering Yama's Bankai as it should...i do think it is one of 3 possibilities which are
    1. Yama never used his bankai and it was all just shikai and the picture of him being engulfed in flames that looked like Zanka notachi West, could have just been what people assumed he was...i.e a fire demon
    2. He never used his full powers, even 1,000 years ago cos as we saw, Chojiro was right there and he probably did not want to kill him by accident or his other allies, or he didn't feel the need to, so he just used West (albeit a weaker version)
    3. i do think this is most likely out of them all, but i think over 1,000 years, Yama definitely got stronger and better and wielding his Zanpakuto and so his Bankai from 1,000 years ago would obviously be much different from his bankai now, like he said in the manga as to the possible reasons why they could not steal Ichigo's bankai was probably because it was still developing and as such they did not understand it's full capabilities. Similar cases of Bankai totally transforming or becoming stronger are Renji's and Byakuya's so i think this is more like it...but just my opinion anyway....great video once again

    The scene where it is revealed to be Royd Lloyd that Yamamoto was fighting was done so well. That part gave me chills when he's speaking as Yhwach, and then it transitions back to him in his actual form saying Yhwach's name. Even though I knew it was coming, it gave me a similar feeling to the shock I felt when I read the manga. I guess this time the feeling was closer to excitement. I'm pretty bummed out about Royd and Loyd having their backstory cut, but oh well. The episode itself was more than enough to completely shatter my disappointment! Such a good episode!

  • @poochyenajones1362
    @poochyenajones1362 ปีที่แล้ว

    I want to point out to that drawing of Yamamoto at the beginning of the episode. Even though it's not much, I feel it tells so much more if we try to think of it. Even without seeing an actual flashback, it shows how the quincies of the thousand years ago viewed Yamamoto as this terrifying unstoppable demon burning everything and everyone in his way. Another thing to notice is how in this picture Yamamoto is drawn upfront. Later in chapter 511 we begin with the flashback of Yamamoto and very young Shunsui where the later asks about the picture of Yama using his bankai. Yamamoto describes it as a monster that raged in Soul Society many years ago. Notice on that picture, Yama is drawn standing backwards towards us unlike the drawing in Souken's diary. Which I think signifies how Yamamoto sees his former self: a monster that's he's ashamed of to some degree. And in this fight with Royd, Yama in his grief and rage tried to resurrect that ancient unstoppable monster but failed in the end. As Yhwach points out in 511, Yama has changed. He's no longer that furious demon. His past mistakes have finally caught up to him and the final thing that can be done now is to put an end to him, as Yhwach does.

    This new season is 11/10 in cinematography and scene structure, but imo this fight and fights in general could have been improved, i think the best fight in the anime is still the grimmjow fight followed by ulquiorra, it shouldn't be the case that the fights in the war arc in 2022-2024 don't surpass fights from the arrancar arc more than 10 years ago back in 2009.
    the cgi skeletons didn't bother me, it fits skeletons, my issues are more that the first fight scenes have that naruto pain fight memes goofiness to them, they're too fluid and you can barely tell what's going on, and that most of the fight is stationary, they should have added some eye candy swordplay scenes with Y using quincy techniques, they don't move enough for this to really feel like a fight, especially Y.
    i can already tell this is gonna be a complaint of mine for most battles, you had 10 years to think of cool battle scenes to add.
    imo this fight should have been 2 episodes of sheer epicness, i know they don't have time for that due to the 52 episodes constraint, and frankly this is my biggest and main complaint, you didn't have to just do 52, you chose that, we all know this arc really needs at least 64 episodes like FMA to truly achieve its full potential and it's not like pierrot doesn't have the budget as the studio of both bleach and naruto.

      Finally someone who sees this objectively
      I concur, you are right
      The art is terrible but the animation is amazing
      The scenic tones and effects are phenomenal
      But the still frames and scenes that aren't straight cut from the manga are very difficult to look at
      I've seen like at least 5 different jugram and yhwach models, it's like they can't get the drawing right

    • @wanded
      @wanded ปีที่แล้ว

    Just noticed on 1:28 the sword Royd Lloyd is using looks like a condensed version of Zangetsu with a hilt and guard. The blade shape and the coloring look exactly like Zangetsu. I wonder if that is because Old Man Zed is pushing his influence?
