- Akihabara is famous for being the anime and electronic capital of Tokyo, not to mention maid cafes and game centers! In this video, we show you all the top locations for anime merchandise, retro games and computer parts, both new and second-hand. We also find the best game arcades and show you what to do if you're not having much luck at the crane games. Finally, we finish off with a peaceful visit to Akihabara's Kanda Myojin Shrine.

Ayyyyeeeee, I am glad that Love Live got mentioned at the end there! I will say, it has definitely helped the rest of the world realize the importance of the shrine!
Outstanding intro to Akihabara! I’ve read about it over 20+ years and have no plans to go, but this gave me the enthusiastic dive that satisfied my curiosity. Thx!
Thanks for watching! 😊
Woohoo! Victor!! Great to see you introducing some of these awesome spots! :D
heheeee, when I went to Japan in March (thanks to you guys, the trip went SO MUCH easier!!!) I slept in Ryogkoku, which was only a 20 minute walk away, so I went there everyday and then took the metro to where ever I wanted
Nice videoo! Glad that you mentioned the Shrine, I haven't noticed there was one so close. Thank you!
This was a great guide! I will check out some of the game shops mentioned next time I come. I had a good time at maid dreaming last time too.
Thanks for the store recommendations! It makes it easier to plan a trip!
You're welcome! Glad it's helpful 😊
This was amazing! I haven’t been yet but if I get to chance to go, this will be my top 3 places to visit!
We were in Aki today and visited Super Potato and was very retro.. Played street fighter with my wife. We loved it. 😂😂
I go with my nephew soon. I want to do the same with him lol
When I saw that thumbnail I thought "Is that Victor?" Yay, it was!
Nice video!
Thank you just the right timing, next week I'll definetly follow these recs! I've always wanted to go to a maid cafeee 💞
Glad to hear it was useful! Have a great time 😊
Thank you for this, really helped with my planning and am now definitely gonna visit 🎉
Glad to hear! Hope you have a great time on your visit!
Awesome suggestions! Best video! All the others just show you the top 10 that EVERY OTHER PERSON HAS ALREADY COVERED! Well done!
Really glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Love Akiba. Not cheap, and highly addictive. Has a wonderful taiyaki place near Friends too.
This is the best Akihabara guide!
We followed all of your recommendations and had an amazing time. So glad we watched this video.
We tried Akihabara before and felt like we missed so much but here we stayed foucesd and had a variety of everything. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for coming back and leaving such a lovely comment! We're really glad to hear our video helped 😊
When I lived in Japan I would regularly visit Akiba during my lunch break to go model shopping, play arcades and/or grab some lunch. Good memories. Nice intro TC team.
Aloha 🤙 from Honolulu! You guys are awesome. Luv your channel ❤️ Great video content 👏. Mahalo!
☺️
I went for the first time to Tokyo and only got a chance to spend a couple of hours wondering around Akihabara. I’m definitely planning to go back in the near future (still looking to get my Yamato mini replica from the anime show!)
Very useful thanks a lot
Great tip on crane game items.
Glad to help
I'm going to Tokyo in October and this is a great video for a checklist in Akihabara. Super Potato seems like "The" place for a retro videogame nerd like me.
I'm going tomorrow! I'll see you there!
Super Potato is great if you want to pay 4X the value of what the item is actually worth. They had Pokemon Gold boxed for 14,600 yen i got it outside of tokyo for 4,600 yen
I can't wait to go! ill only have an hour or two in Akihabara tho :( Thanks for the guide!
Always a blast. Airsoft there is amazing!
Nice!
Thanks😍
Great video but would you recommend any specific shop for 2nd hand ipad please? :)
Yay Victor!
it's all so overwhelming, did you feel compelled to go into every single store? I plan to visit in 2024 and I would love to find: Gojira, Jet Jaguar, Speed Racer, Ultra Man and Voltron
Just came back from Tokyo last weekend. It was kinda strange seeing the same anime statues all at various prices across different stores in the vicinity.
I did manage to grab a copy of Brave Fencer Musashi for not even 4 bucks.
Wow, that's awesome!
Finding Brave Fencer Musashi for less than 4 bucks is a great deal! 😱
I'm surprised you didn't mention Akihabara Radio Kaikan.
There's also Gee! Store I went to on the 4th floor of the Onoden building when trying to find Cospa brand anime merchandise. Hard to find quality full graphic shirts in general.
Thanks for the tip!
Don't forget to keep an eye out for stores that have Tax Free over 5000 JPY. Akihabara has quite a few there which can help lower the price a bit, but you want to hit up the same stores branches in different areas to find cheaper stuff or rarer goods.
is the tax thing only for foreigners? or does the Japanese also have to pay those?
@KnightZeemo japan has 10% tax they pay on top of things but people coming for tourism / holidays can get temporary visitor slip in passport with a QR (u use ur phone and the welcome japan site) when you go through immigration and that lets you get tax taken off at certain stores (either tax taken off total purchase or you take your receipt and goods to a counter for that store and they give you the tax back)
do you do tours bar hopping etc
More Victor!
I'm doing my holiday in Tokyo next month (12days just for the city) and I'm planning to go on Akihabara on Sunday. to be more exact, I want to do Akasaka/Tokyo sky try in the morning, Akihabara for the rest of the day. However, I heard that the Tokyo Sky Tree gets really busy on the weekend. should I go there on another day? I'll stay in Ueno.
Tokyo Skytree can get quite busy, especially around sunset but if you're going in the morning it might be okay. If you book tickets in advance online that helps speed up the process once there as you don't need to wait in-line to buy tickets. Have a great trip!
I wish there was a "at-home cafe" in France or England
I'm planning a trip to Tokyo with my two kids and one of their friends (two 18 year old girls and a 25 year old guy). I'm 55- the old man (Dad). They would like to stay where the action is (arcades, shopping, food, neon lights, etc.)- however I don't want to stay in an area where there is a lot of "adult" entertainment /red light typr district at night for obvious reasons. Also, I would like a safe area for them to explore and be able to go out in the evening. What would be your recommendation? Shinjuko? Shibuya? Any particular areas that are nicer- but have the attractions as well? Thanks!
Shibuya and it’s surrounding areas are probably the most suited for youngsters. The hotel “All Day Place” is nice and in the perfect area - just a short walk from all the action, but on a quieter back street.
@@tokyocheapo Thank you so much for your expert opinion! Much appreciated!
Akihabara is the perfect place to overpay for gaming. It’s a tourist trap.
Where do I find Berserk stuff?
5:45 owned by the maid
hirose entertainment yard
super potato
manga stuff for ppl at school
walkman shop
just go to mulah and buy the toys in the claw machine
shrine
Do you think budgeting an entire day in Akiba is enough for otaku on a first visit?
Hi there! It really depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend. One day should allow you to browse most of the shops. There's also Nakano Broadway in the west of Tokyo for anime lovers too!
@@tokyocheapo Hmm I don't think I've seen videos on Nakano Broadway before I'll have to check it out. Thank you
Where is the cheapest used iphone in Akihabara?
VICTOR!
Me: Who is this guy? What does he know?
//guy proceeds to absolutely thrash a beatmania song//
Me: Nevermind, I trust him completely. 😯
Open late close hella early
By electronics i thought cameras, playstation, speakers etc but seems like akihabara is anime games focused..
It’s in Japan…
What did you expect…
Wtf is that dawg icon?? I’m c😂onfused

Aki was better in the 80s!!
How could my mother dare not give birth to me until 1984...
Best in 1950s
Life was better in the 80s.
