Kenchan! Next month! Thanks like always for your help, every time I watch a video I feel more secure about what to do, on my first travel alone to Japan 😄
Thank you always! I think that was in the illumination video in early December. I’ve been able to post only half of what I planned, but I’m glad my videos was found by many viewers. :)
Kengo-San, arigattogozaimasu for the video! I am currently traveling to Kyoto from Nagano, started in Tokyo last week and we are having such a good time! Never get tired of coming back to Japan!
Thank you Davy san. I'm very very happy to hear that you are having a good time in Japan. Nagaon to Kyoto sounds like an interesting route. I wish you the best for the rest of your trip. :)
Thank you Kengo-San. Yes, it is an interesting routing, riding Thunderbird to final destination of Kyoto. I always visit Kyoto, we really like it there. Highlight of the trip was Kusatsu Onsen, so relaxing and really nice people. I hope you come to visit Hawaii one day!
Thank you for watching. I'd like to add the Google My Map in the description later. I'll comment here again when I'm done. Thank you for letting me know!
Nice tour! I really appreciate you taking the time to make a map. Like you, I’m not really into anime or video games much, so i never thought Id be interested in this area. But after your video, I’ll definitely check it out when I visit. Thanks!
Thank you for watching and your comment! I’m glad that you show some interest in Akihabara now. I think it’s good to know some places to go in Akihabara, so you can be like a part of the crowd in the town. :)
I second this comment. Really engaging, useful video. Edited and paced well-- sound recording and post-production levels were adjusted well. And hooray-- no obnoxious music blasting my ears out all the way through. So unnecessary. Thanks for this one Kenchan, great channel!
@@tokyokenchan yes, my 3rd time and im enjoying my stay here in Tokyo... Too many steps walking around, so hard to find a seat, your feet will eventually get tired.
@@tokyokenchan also there are places to sit in front of Yodobashi Akiba, with gashapon machines and cat cafe infront. Also i tried sitting on the metal rails infront of the stores in Akihabara main road..a lot of locals and foreigners are doing it.
I hadn't had a chance to watch this video, Im so happy I did now! Your videos are so well made! I appreciate your effort into making the video even though it was harder to make! I've seen videos about Akihabara that don't show very well what you will find in these areas, so I wasn't very interested. This video changed my mind! I would definitely like to go someday.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, I started to go to Akihabara time to time after I started this channel, but I think Aihabara can be a fun place once you know some stores and places to go. :)
Thank you, Ken-chan! Your videos are so relaxing and are a breath of fresh air when compared to other traveling TH-camrs. Please keep up the great work!
@@tokyokenchan awesome! Another idea might be to do a gag reel or highlight reel at the end of the year, where you combine highlights or funny moments from several videos into one. I think that would really show off your comedic side 👍😀🤩
Kenchan, thank you for sharing! By the way, my travel arrangements are done for my visit in May. I have plans to visit Tamashii Nations since it's right outside the Akihabara Station and seems to have a decent number of figurines on display and purchase. I will then take a walk to and take in what may suit my interest. Gachapon (not to go overboard) for my grandson and of course the food! Have you considered a short video on visiting the Gracery Hotel and Godzilla? It would be interesting to provide tips on how to get to the roof to have our pics taken with Godzilla! 😂 I believe you can get access to the roof by visiting the cafe on the rooftop? I will be in Tokyo and as I mentioned a side trip to Wakayama / Kishi Station (Tama chan) two nights and three days. I want try to ride the four different trains back and forth from Wakayama to Kishi Station. I also plan to take the train from the Wakayama Train Station (Granvia Hotel) to Kuroshio Fish Market and have lunch then a walking tour thru Wakayama and back to hotel. Again, thanks for sharing. 🙏
Wtn san, I’m excited to hear your Japan trip plan is getting finalized. I’m looking forward to your stories especially on Wakayama. Yes I think you can access to Godzilla if you use the hotel or coffee shop. I might visit when I talk about Shinjuku next time. :) Thank you again😄
Instead of buying many of the things you want from the area just write them down and check for them online. Alot of times it's cheaper and a better option if you live overseas
There are lots of different things there but if you're already into the sort of stuff here you probably already know what you're looking for and could spend days perusing the aisles if given the chance. I also like Akiba Cultures Zone, the gray building on the map between 1 and 4... in terms of something I can actually explain how to find and is AFAIK still there. I remember seeing some tour for German tourists or something- probably mostly 60+. They looked bored. Probably hadn't been there over 30 minutes. They clearly didn't know anything about this sort of stuff and probably had no business being taken there on their tour. If that includes you but you still want to visit, look around a little and just pay the 1500-4000 yen or so per person and have a memorably awkward time at Maidreamin or @home cafe or something for an hour or two. Check off Akihabara and then go somewhere more to your interest. When I went to Japan I often go to Akihabara because soooo many different lines go to this general area, and this is pretty much the hub station for this less expensive region, including Asakusa, where many of the hostels are located, so it's common to be transfer here or just stop off on the way back to Asakusa. When it comes to Akiba culture stuff it's the idols that I personally have the most interest in. But not many of the venues are actually in Akihabara anyway. Still, if I was to design say a 5000-10000 yen day experience for Akihabara it'd probably start from Ochanomizu side, then Kanda Myoujin, something like Maid Cafe lunch, figure and shopping and arcades if there are any left...='( idol show, and then something like late night ramen or curry to wrap it up. But again, if you already know what you like, you could spend all day, or even multiple days, sifting through trading cards or manga or whatever. I'd probably be more into the games, but compatibility issues makes it hard for many systems. I've bought about 10 games total over the years that never got a USA release or not one on a system I owned or that just plain weren't out in the USA at the time. But I don't think I bought any of these in Akihabara.
Thank you Kenchan for another great video. I really like Akihabara, even though I am not into Anime and Manga. I just find it a very interesting part of Tokyo to walk around and to discover at random. It is so different from home (Switzerland).
I smiled when you said you didn’t have much to shop for in Akihabara. I’m guessing you have a microphone, video camera, and some sort of computer (two monitor screens? three?) for editing this video… so perhaps you are not a Game Otaku, but perhaps are a little bit of a Video Otaku?
haha. I'd be happy to be any kind of Otaku. I actually decided to purchase my camera because of the store person in Akihabara, explain everything better than any other shops. I always need a reason to go to Akihabara. :)
HI Ken Chan, thank you for watching. I have never dared to explore the stores in akihabara in all my previous trips to Tokyo, only along the streets. This time in March, i intend to spend a day here and will follow your recommendations in the video (except for some of the food)
