Fun Fact, there was actually another company in Japan called "Logitec" (it's spelled the same as Logitech in Japanese), and they were in Japan before Logitech was able to open up anything in Japan, so Logitech had to change their name to Logicool in Japan only to avoid a name conflict.

In the US, we used to have a department store chain before Internet shopping took over. It was called Best Products. You would shop and check the items to make sure they were what you wanted. You would then take the ticket, pay for the item, and they would bring it from the warehouse in the back to the pick up counter. It was marketed as a catalog store that allowed you to test out the products before buying.

To reduce the stickiness of rice id recommend washing it prior! It removes the starch and takes just an extra 5 minutes! (You fill the rice-cooker bowl with the dry rice and fill it with water, massage the rice until the water is clearer, and repeat until its semi-transparent)

@@SynxSPNo. Sticky rice is specifically glutinous rice. Japan eats basic short and medium grain rice and cooks it differently than South Asian rice like basmati. Glutinous rice is usually used for things like mochi.

I mean the "reviews" (I know they're not reviews I just don't know what term to use) are basically as long as a Tiktok video. It's my gripe with this channel, really. He's always making compilation videos that are incredibly shallow and unsatisfying. I like the idea behind the video so I watch it but after I'm done I'm always left feeling like I got nothing out of it. I guess this works for him so it's not gonna change but I WISH this channel was more in depth than "wow! so cool! anyway, next product...".

I was in Japan earlier this year and had NO idea this store existed prior to going to Akihabara.
I kinda "accidentally" stumbled into this store and decided to venture through almost all the floors and...my ADHD brain could *NOT* comprehend what I was witnessing in real time 😂
All I remember is wanting to buy something *so bad* but because I was immensely overwhelmed by the sheer choice of literally ANYTHING I could want, I left empty handed.

Trackballs for productivity are absolute god tier. I switched to it on my music production PC last year and haven't looked back. As for Arun's complaint about fine detailed work with it, my trackball (logitech MX Ergo) actually has a button to switch between normal and fine controls and basically switches between low and high DPI mode.

I realised the difference was that I'd been using a media controller at home which works similarly (your arm stays still). Took a couple of months to settle but that was 2005 and Im still coding daily and pain free. I'd give that a 10! :D

26:41 you discovered TENS therapy. Congrats. The science is sort of there. They definitely use these in physical therapy, but at the beginning normally, right after the injury occurs when you can't be doing resistance band training yet, they'll hit you on the TENS unit to promote muscle movement, since maybe you were in a coma for a long time and your muscles slowly atrophied, can't go straight into Walking again, they'll sometimes prescribe this. My sister had a really fancy one of these.

for the neckband speakers, they're also amazing for if you're in a noisy environment where you also still need to hear. let's say for a warehouse worker. earbuds don't work because you might have heavy machinery like a forklift rolling around you occasionally, but they still allow music speakers. the neckband speakers would be great for you! i actually personally use a pair every day for my own job as a forklift operator.

To me, it's 1990s throwback technology that a few arthritic legal secretaries used at the law firms I've worked at. But the popularity of the trackpad on laptops really prevented adoption of the trackball, which was the only alternative mouse option for desktop users. It's cute he talks about it as cool Japanese tech.

It’s amazing to see how all that expensive camera gear and stuff is just put in the open for public, it rly shows how much the store trusts the Japanese people

No group of people in Japan are allowed to steal with impunity because they belong to the "oppressed" column

Plus they don't have multiculturalism, so they can expect their customers to belong to a single cultural standard that discourages stealing.

It’s insane when videos come out with people leaving their phone and purse at a fast food restaurant for like 30 minutes and coming back to show how no one steals anything. There’s even a restaurant that has no employees that check you out and you’re trusted to pay for what eat and it stays clean to boot. Japan’s etiquette is such a breath of fresh air in these aspects.

@@lethalButters in Singapore ive seen wallets and phones left behind to save a table. In the posher areas of Bangkok, coin purses were used.
Posh areas in Asia generally are safe enough

I really hope everyone gets to experience a mall in a country they’re not from. For me, it was the Kuwait mall and I’m from the US. It was beautiful and magnificent and surprisingly had more American brands than i thought! They had a Texas Roadhouse while also having a massive waterfall in a neighborhood designer section with Tom Ford and Victoria Secret!

39:20 first time in Japan (over twenty years ago) taught me that rice is not a "bulk up" / "filler" meal item but something to be enjoyed as much as any other item on the plate, even in something as texturally and flavour diverse as a shojin ryori meal the rice is as much a part of the experience and been mildly evangelical about spreading that opinion - it's a hard sell to a lot of Westerners
but it's my occasional, once or twice a year, life mission.

as a dentist i highly do not recommend the tooth polisher or any kind of abrasive self applied tech at home. when overdone, it can cause permanent wear and damage to your teeth which later translates in more expensive restorative procedures.

Just finished my trip to Japan this Tuesday and watching you upload a video there made me excited haha I loved exploring Japan and its variety of different stores. There’s still so much I have yet to explore and definitely can’t wait to go back already.

I got a laugh from that too. Those are not high tech but for people that got stuck on using them from the 80s, 90s, and early 00s.
