@@RossSmith-o5ztrue, I actually bought the two I've got during the pre-sale. So I still spent a little over $100 in them, but as you can see, they are small and portable enough that I can move them from vehicle to vehicle, drone or plane

I live in a area where there is airspace a drone is not allowed and I am worried about drift. Is there anything that is more accurate. this device would have me in trouble.
There will be many more options as time goes by, including some diy, or that work with other systems, like Ardupilot. This one got me going fast. And I'm talking about the hobbyist who builds their own. Commercial vehicles have no choice but to build it in now
What happens to the flight data once it is recorded with the App? Is it only in real time and goes away once the BS is turned off? Or....does the App record and save the flight data to be looked up in the future?
Why do I need to add something to my system that duplicates a function that already exists? Return To Home function uses the location from where I took off from and that is where the controller is located. The UAS position is displayed on my controller as distance and height from the controller. That's all I need for a safe flight isn't it?
All you need for a safe flight is to be conscientious and not do anything that might put anyone else’s person or property at risk. The purpose of RID was to create onerous restrictions on hobbyists to “encourage” them to quit flying. It’s never had anything to do with safety.
Yes, you can put a connector to a servo style connector and plug into the receiver. I just chose to do something I can drop into any vehicle with zero changes

God the fact that the module does not come with any of the wiring is pissing me off. It's like cents of extra cost for the manufacturer. Haven't had a chance to mess with mine yet but judging by reviews apparently the gps passthrough is super shoddy. Just unfortunate.
Agreed, they should have included the connector and a couple inches of wire. I personally would not try to use this as the GPS receiver in my rig for any navigation
@@theflyingsandalrc the gps part is interesting. If I use the assisted gnss feature without the vtx on it generally locks around 20 sats indoors compared to like 8-10 on my m10q but the last time I flew with the vtx on it did not lock a single satellite over 2 6 minute flights. My antennas are pretty far from the vtx too and my m10q is super close to the vtx and still was locking like 7-8. Performance is so variable
You did what I did. I got a few BS when they were half price. I have one wired similar to what you did with. 3.7 lipo battery and heatshrinked them inside a 1 inch diameter tube. Velcroed it to my Mavic Pro. 17 grams. Have taken several flights. If I mount it on top of the Mavic I get 700 feet BT range. If I mount it in the back near the rear LED I was able to get 1600 feet. Range also depends on smartphone and app being used. I could point my smartphone in the right direction I could get the signal back. DroneScanner app works fine with the BS.
Dumb, if you loose connectivity with your phone, how are the authorities to know where the device is or has been. Your broadcasting from the drones device, to the phone, to the app site where the flight is recorded. A great way for a man in the middle attack. Fortunately, everyone knows RID rules only apply to “drones”. 😎 Nobody, and I mean **absolutely** nobody, will ever expect fixed wing aircraft to carry it. You can count on that.
No thanks. I'll stick to non compliance. No way I'm spending $100 extra on each and every craft I have. And forget about Tiny Whoops, there's no way any of these modules will work with one of those.
How many liberties are we going to give up before we say enough is enough?
I hear you. I've decided I'm not ready to give up flying...
You will only be able to work. Enjoying anything of any kind is strictly prohibited 😵💫
Patriot flyers reached that point years ago. Remote ID is for DJI or suckers.
Pull that tin hat down a little tighter and hang on!!😁

The day that these things are free i will consider putting them on my drones until then catch me if you can

Someone would actually have to be looking for you to catch you, but no one is looking, and no one ever will.
If I eventually have to put an RID module on my rig, I don't want to do any soldering just Velcro it on top of my Battery and fly 👊🏻
Right, you can easily put this or something like it in a little holder to add to your battery strap
@@theflyingsandalrc Exactly and it runs on a coin battery or off the battery leads.

You would need to get geofencing working on your drone, this is not for that
How well does it work as a stand alone GPS module? It would be nice if i could just replace my current module with this and be compliant.
Hi ,One question is how long does it take to ship to the USA, I already placed the order but I don't look at the tracking number.
That's hard to say. Because I bought on presale, I waited over 3 minths
I can see Vifly making a GPS and remote ID with a buzzer AIO to make it easier for us to fly with
