The lowest position is the most aggressive which you did not fill on the day before. So you can use all 3 or the lower two. That said this razor is best for legs and I’m told heads.
That's exactly what happened when i used my leaf shave, had to go over it again with a DE razor, such a shame as it really could have been the answer to people who want to save money on blades, but don't feel comfortable with a DE razor. Will say the plastic blade they gave away for free with it is amazing, great for those bits under the nose and around the jaw corners.
I am so so so disappointed with this razor. I bought both the leaf and the twig. I wanted it for shaving and shaping. The razor is just so damn big. Every DE razor I have feels nice, compact and able to pack a punch. This thing just will NOT shave my beard properly whether I load it with 1, 2 or 3 blades. The most disappointing thing is that I was planning on purchasing this for 2 years as I was abroad. I figured I would purchase it in the States. I have never had a product fall flat as much as this one did for me...
You aint lying! The Mach 3 cart was my go to and I was hoping the Twig would be the solution. It' not. My Twig is gathering dust! Now, I use a Gillette Slim Adjustable (H-2). It's like buttah!
Were you applying no pressure like you would with a safety razor? Or were you applying pressure like you would with a cartridge razor? I think you should maybe try applying pressure to it if you did not, because with its pivot head and two blades it appears to function more like a cartridge razor than a DE razor.
Can also use just the lowest position for single edge but this is a bit bulky for faces. As you know know they’ve released the Twig that uses 1 half blade and is great for face. The Leaf is my SO’s favorite razor for her legs. I load the top two positions for her and she likes the mildness and long handle and the bulky head is not an issue for her.
If applying more pressure does *not* work, I wonder whether the problem might be the fact that the handle is not actually over the blades - it's to the side, and it's on a hinge? Seems silly to me - I think I'd prefer no hinge, so I can apply as much pressure as I like. I'm currently using the old Sensor Excel cartridge, and it's excellent. When I look at the design of the Mach 3, it too looks similar to this Leaf - rotating head, with the handle on the *edge*, instead of the centre. Nuts, IMHO.
Even without the hinge, the point of a safety razor it’s not to apply pressure you’re a lot more likely to cut yourself that way. It’s always let the blade do the work. Lily Fraser is still a safety razor evening with the pivoting head.
@@kathrynrhodes7785 I completely disagree - *some* pressure must be applied. If I apply no pressure, regardless of the type of razor, I do not get a very smooth shave.
Thanks for the quick follow up video. The 1st one had me chomping at the bit. Shame the way the shave turned out. Keep up the really enjoyable & fun videos. Ron
You didn’t use the lowest blade which is the most aggressive. It works much better that way. Plus it’s recommended for body and head shaved. It’s the best head shaver on the market but u need to use the first and second blade. It second and 3rd. Or all 3. First 2 are enough tho.
@@anonymous4201 I tried it in multiple configurations and got cuts under all conditions unless I went with the grain and used almost no pressure. The results were underwhelming doing it this way. I typically go against the grain with my gillette 5-blade and use medium pressure and end up with a perfect shave. I wanted to like this thing, but it just didn't suit me.
I think Gillette achieved perfection with the original DE safety razor design and most things since have been an incremental improvement or a gimmick to make money for the most part.
Jon Manilenioif if they did, the DE blade would have different holes so inly their 3 dollar a piece blades would fit. They would sell it as the “green” option since you don’t throw out plastic.
as for the cella cream,,,great stuff,,,smells just like jergens lotion. cherry almond,,,beautiful stuff....and for the virgin islands clubman bay rum,,,absolutely awesome stuff too. you got some good stuff there guy.
Like mine. More like cartridge but doesn’t plug. I always use three blades. Just let the flex work. You can push a Little unlike de. Even against grain growth it’s not harsh. You are correct handle needs a better grip of some kind. But glad bought mine for a little different shave than de. But still can get a Bbs shave with three passes.
I’d like to see if maybe it’s just the blades it came with. Can u do another video of it using the Feather blades? If the Feathers can’t take down the whiskers with it then it would most def. just be the razor!! lol
You’re using it too much like a cartridge razor and use feather blades. You shouldn’t need more than one pass if you have a firm grip and gentle long glides. With more practice it’ll grow on you.
What is your post shave routine with your razor? Do you just rinse it off, Remove the blade, leave blade in, rinse in alcohol, scrub brush it, nothing?
I’ve heard it’s gentle, but it should still be able to give a good shave. Sucks that it didn’t work out. I would still like to try it though so I may end up picking one up at some point. Would you consider selling it?
Maybe I got it wrong the first time out, but then again, I like things that work well and are easy to figure out. This is a new breed of razor, so I’m going to try again and see if it was my fault. Good to see you!
Too bad it doesn't turned out that great. As a cartridge shaver (I know, i know….. ) this would have been the perfect hybrid for me. And I really likes the way it looks.
Give me another chance with either three blades installed or two repositioned in the head to be more aggressive. I’m not giving up yet. It might be user error on my part. Stay tuned.
That would be wise to not pass final judgment on the razor until you've explored all its variations. I'm a happy DE and SE razor guy but that razor looks like a viable alternative for someone who likes multiblade razors and pivoting heads. I can see the payback in blade cost savings compared to the price of cartridge heads.
I love your italian accent 😀 Yes, "Cella" is exactly as you pronounced it, but it's not "crema dE barba", it's "crema dA barba" :) Great review, I won't buy the leaf razor!
Actually, you were right to inform "certain" people that you were just joking about walking around the house wearing shaving lather. This here be Da Inn-Ter-Net and like the coffee; it's chock full of nuts.... ;-)
You need to work the pivot, and if it's not doing the job, you need a blade in the bottom position. The top slot is like your Rockwell on setting one, the middle slot is like setting 2, and the bottom is like setting 4. So mash it on your face more, and use the bottom slot. Also check your this video. th-cam.com/video/SBm6RoYldrI/w-d-xo.html
I watched 2 other reviews earlier of this razor. Both said it was great. Not sure if they are lying or if yours is defective or what. Though I trust your review most especially since you were given it for free and are okay with criticizing it.
You have to try Clubman if you like the Osage. It's on Amazon for 10 bucks goo.gl/cXumaB or even try the bay rum goo.gl/Xhkk7x ah ha didn't see you got it till the end.
@@SinatraLennon you get a razor that has the "best" of both worlds, the best features of a safety razor and the mobility of a catrige razor, so in order to be able to use it correctly you should use those two features, you took advantage of the safety razor features but you did not use at all the mobility features, if you would've put more pressure on the blades then it would've moved to the right angel by itself no need to move you hand to the right angle.
it is not that bad, but you can't compare to a safety razor like merkur or muhle those are just a different league try a feather blade maybe also, the third blade is the most agressive
Way too much of a gimmick, there’s no reason to use this over a cartridge razor. Cartridge razor crowd just wants a quick shave without any effort. DE shavers like to enjoy the experience and go back to a time in razors without the gimmicks. This misses the mark on all ends.
Looks gimmicky. The head looks ridiculous. Piece of junk as far as I’m concerned. You really only need one cutting edge, hence DE razors and straights ...
Just got mine today. It sucks. It left so many hairs on my face and head. Disappointed.
The lowest position is the most aggressive which you did not fill on the day before. So you can use all 3 or the lower two. That said this razor is best for legs and I’m told heads.
the bottom slot is apparently the most aggressive one according to some other vids I watched, you should try that
I’m going to, for sure.

Thanks! I’ll do my best.
That's too bad about the Leaf. I would maybe try it with a better blade, but it looks like the troubles go beyond that. Thanks for the review.
I’ll try it again with my Feather blades, and maybe three blades halves.
If I want to switch to DE safety razor from cartridge razor, what is the best beginner safety razor?thanks
But an inexpensive one first. Just about any safety razor is going to work pretty well. Check Amazon.com
I would say a Merkur 23c
It's the blades; I've seen other youtubers use higher quality blades, no problem. The hardware is solid, just their blade selection seems not ideal.
May I recommend you set your white balence to manual. This will keep your walls from changing color.
Err balance

I keep nicking my head w/ all 3 blades in place. I am going to try to remove the most aggressive and see if that stops the nicks.

Should’ve put all 3 razors in. Hopefully they made some improvements in the last 4 yrs bc i just paid $80 for one.
They had an old DE razor that stacked blades like this. I think they were full blades, though.

you don't push your nose up with a big head like most people?

Hi Bro!
Is It stainless steel made of?
Great job!

I just rinse it off and let it dry. If it’s a butterfly razor, I open the flaps up to dry. Easy.
A Gillette Track II on steroids and price!...If anyone wants to use that junk buy a Track II instead which is a lot cheaper!..
safety razor is not safe it cut my finger i tried it in April bled bad
