      Welcome to the traditional wet shaving community. I’ve been traditional wet shaving for over three years and I have a bunch of vintage Gillette’s and modern safety razors as well. If you want I could help you get started with some shave soaps if you don’t live too far. I’m from South jersey.

      Hi mate I’m new to the safety razor community. I have the king c Gillette and the Wilkinson sword safety razor. For my money I think the Wilkinson sword blades and razor give a better shave if you’re not ready to invest in something expensive yet. I also have my 1960 fat boy which I love I think when you’re ready to move on look at an adjustable one. Also get yourself some Taylor’s of old Bond Street cream and a brush if you don’t already have one. Enjoy your time being part of the community mate!

      I have been shaving the right way for about two years, but just recently got the KCG razor, and was very pleasantly surprised with how comfortable and efficient it is.

      You don't need more than one safety razor! Well, those were the words to myself a few years ago. Now I have more than 30 and I want to get the Twig too :) How can something so trivial, shaving, can become a hobby? I don't know, but it happens :)

  • @DavidLeBlanc

    Clever engineering, though it's not enough to make me want one, probably. I do use Dorco blades, my go to, so it's nice to know that they do work in the Twig.

    @SinatraLennon,
    Thank you for being so loaded with integrity and honesty. Another great recommendation.
    The Twig razor’s shave is madness! Mind-blowing engineering happened here!
    It's a fixed angle but somehow the feel and safety are truly similar to a pivoting head cartridge razor. You don’t have to be very mindful of the angle at all and still get a super duper close shave. I barely got nicks and razor burns.

    That's cool that it doesn't use propitiatory blades. Never tried a single edge. From what I hear they have minimal blade chatter compared to DE because the blade is held more secure. I'm in that twig looks pretty cool. I believe you Sinatra you are pretty honest when items don't work out for you. Like that big foot shaves badger brush😂

    You are right. The Leaf Twig is a great razor. I bought the Rose Gold color a few months ago and it quickly became one of my top two favorites, and it is hard to chose between it and the other. I would have to say I have used the Twig more. So there’s that.

  • @Ou812ui
    @Ou812ui 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Might try this, again I am new to this but, I am really starting to think it is more about the blame than the razor. Started with a cheap Viking with Viking blades and was on of the harshest shaves ever, so I bought a Rockwell, it came with blades and I thought wow, much ether shave bit I had a ton of weepers with it. Wife surprised me with a Parker with Parker blades and the shave was very similar to the Viking. Oh man, maybe I am a cartridge guy. Then a friend suggested a sample pack of blades, I made it down to an astra. I am hooked, I can put one in my cheapest Viking razor and get a great shave, very similar shave with astra in my Parker or Rockwell. Thoughts anyone. I claim it’s more about the blade than the razor on a macro level.

    Hi Brian! Some years ago, we needed to replace our kitchen sink. My wife wanted to call the plumber, but I was insistent that I could do it myself. We had words... And she went off to go to sleep for the night. I had the bright idea that I would just stay up for a bit and get it done. Well, it turned out to be more complicated than I expected, no, a lot more! The faucet was connected to the water supply by copper tubes. I spent several hours babying them to get them to fit without the 40 year old metal snapping. I finally got it all connected. No leaks! I was very proud. Well, I crawled off to bed at about 4:00 AM to get a few hours of shut-eye. We wake up at the usual time and I proudly tell my wife to go into the kitchen and check out my handy work. She returns a few minutes later and says, "You installed it backwards" and promptly walks away to go take a shower. Yes, as you said, "That's what professionals are for". And yes, I would love to win the Twig! Thanks for your always entertaining videos.

    Thanks for all ur videos Sir, last month I bought a Parker 99R and after a few shaves I got a nice clean face, no razor bumps, no ingrowth hair, very smooth skin. My skin is very sensitive, I can't use normal products on my face, bc I got redness, so the safety razor works amazing on me.

    your videos helped turned me onto the leaf twig. did my first shave with it coming from cartridges, and it was the best thing i have ever used. NO irritation after the shave! when it comes time for new blades, im considering trying feather blades out. for someone new like me, wonder if feather would be too aggressive though. may stick with the leaf blades, they seemed to work well.

I was curious about the plastic prototype, i have always wanted a simplistic razor, that could go under the nose. Just a thin blade and a handle, not much different or more engineered than a kitchen peeler. I had always wanted been curious about the clear plastic prototype that i had seen in your videos, years ago, and that brought me back to your channel, only to find its now a proper razor. Thanks for the great review. I too bought and tried the One Blade two years ago, and it was dreadful. Thankfully for their money back return, or that would have been a very costly mistake. To have to buy one proprietary blades was the same trap as being in the sea of all the cartridge razors. Sounds like the Leaf blades are made in Egypt by Shark. They produce a single edge in their own brand name. I'll stick to my DE Astra Platinums when i get my Leaf-Twig set.

I've been using the Philips Oneblade electric for a couple years now, and I'm tired of paying for the heads. I want to switch to something that uses standard DE blades that I can buy anywhere. I have to say it's mild and efficient, the right comfort I'm looking for without sacrificing efficiency. Their blades work just fine, I bet they're made by Shark or Lord hence Egypt. I have yet to try other ones lol, still using the first blade. I think I'm gonna buy a second one.

    I am on the Kickstarter program and expect my Twig soon as my “color” was the last released. They are really good people there and committed to ecology. The Leaf is too large for my face but my partner’s favorite razor for her legs followed closely by the Broman which is also a great very mild razor with longish handles. I’m told head shavers are also fans of the Leaf. I’m really looking forward to my Twig. I like Permasharp 1/2 blades as well as Nacet or Astra snapped in half.

  • @peterkloostermann
    @peterkloostermann 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    A year ago or so you reviewed the Gillette Skinguard, I've been using that since then because it is quite mild and not so scrapy on skin, but it's a cartridge razor, so not very friendly to the environment. So I would like to use something else. What do you think, would this Twig razor or maybe the Leaf razor be a good option for someone who wants a non-aggresive mild shave?

    Inspired me to buy it! Have their original Leaf but as mentioned it was “ over engineered “ and fiddly to change the blades so I don’t use it as often as my favourite Rockwell S. This seems like a winner! Thanks for the honest review . Now a new subscriber as well ! Cheers Mike in Nova Scotia.

      I really, really like the Twig. It’s become my go-to when I want a fast, one pass shave. Just a great razor.

    I would love to win that Leaf razor! The loading concept is like the vintage Segal razor. The best part is you can use any blade you wish to do so! Can't wait to order one!

    You should do a leaf vs twig Video. One half twig the other leaf.
    I'm on the fence whether in which one to get. I honestly would probably buy both if it came down to it normally but not at $120+ for the leaf and over$100 for the twig.
    Thanks!

    “I want to win the twig razor”. Thanks for making the give away offer. I actually do like the Leaf razor as well and love the Twig to complement that razor. Keep safe mate.

    Awesome video my man. Love the leaf razor only because it looks cool but I rather use my fat boy instead. Now that black one u showed,, maybe I’d try.

    “I want to win the twig razor” Great shave, yes I have always felt pin prickle burns from the alum, I think that it is normal; when there is a whole section that burns I think it is due to irritation, but just small pin prickles are unavoidable.

    I subscribed to your channel recently because I love your videos. In fact, I was looking for an alternative to cartridge razors and you convinced me to try safety razors, which I just did for the first time this week! It went surprisingly well, I'm glad I finally made it. I'm using a traditional double-edged razor, but this Twig definitely seems interesting! Please keep going with your videos and again, thank you so much!! :D

    Certainly the advantage of using any de blade on the planet is brilliant. And I'll take your word on the comfort...from here though it looks like a little piece of Schick !!

    Great review. You’re excited for real. 😂 My Rockwell 6s and 6c on plate 2 are my favourites EXCEPT for the fact that the blade doesn’t necessarily line up perfectly straight every time. This actually makes a difference…. When your skin is sensitive, a blade that’s a tiny fraction off can make for a real terrible shave. For this reason… I end up using my AS-D2 as a daily driver because it’s ALWAYS lined up perfectly. The design of the Twig suggests perfect alignment (or at least easy adjustment if need be) every time. I’m going to order it…… is it mild and forgiving? Thanks. Keep up the good vids. Ted.

      A Gillette Tech (or its Chinese clone the Baili) would also be good for blade alignment because it has these metal parts in the corners that hold the corners of the blade in the right place. I don't know why all DE razors made since then don't have that.

    I am in for the twig. It's so shiny. Did you have any qualms about the lack of texturing on the center part of the handle? BrownBag Gentleman considered this to be an oversight in his review.

      It wasn’t a problem for me. It was easy to grip.
