Mocking up the new coachroof! *** Episode 13 ***

At last, the real progress begins!
In this episode I begin the rebuild of the coachroof.
Starting the job off by removing all the nasty old cab side timbers. Once these are removed I get the rebate for the new cab side timber to fit onto the deck beams routed out.
Now i have the joint cut it's time to make a start mocking up the new cab side templates.

I can't emphasize enough of the admiration I have for You seemingly unfreezable Islanders seriously working in those temperatures.
After a fair amount of observation, I'm starting to come to the conclusion that restoring a boat might involve vast amounts of extremely hard work.
And money ;)
Anything worth it takes suffering
And 80% of that hard work seems to be producing sawdust that you throw away.

HI FROM VICTORIA AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 when i was 8 - 9 years old {im 58now} a friend was building fero cement boat she was 22ft long called the ZENITH . my and my brothers job was putting the wires through the mesh from the inside so to hold the wire to the frames ! {little peoples job} 👍👍👍👍 keep up the great work 👍👍👍👍

Getting there young man. Good idea to increase the hight on Saloon roof. I would enlarge the Porthole windows too.
@michaelrck, I would agree with this, except that to enlarge the portholes would mean not reusing the existing hardware, which would be expensive. Love the videos BTW, I haven't missed a one since I subscribed for the fist one!!! :-)

Who still builds boats out of ferrocement these days. This is awesome.
It was actually built in the eighties but never actually launched
@@jasonirvine1612 I remember that now. I once watched a guy building a ferrocement boat in Carmichael Calif in the 70's.

Beautiful to see some snow while living here on the Sunshine Coast of Australia..... not sure I would be saying that if I was there but beautiful scenery all the same. Love the easy but steady approach to marking and setting templates. Every passing ultracrepidarian will observe a mill out here or there if it’s not right. Whilst you can tell ‘em to bugger off the remark will have you pulling odd head posses as you look to check.

A big shout out to you Fin for working in freezing temps!!! Here @ the tip of Africa on the coast in the Eastern Cape, Feb is a hot month with 30+C and 40+C as little as 50miles inland!! Serious Brownie Points for the Blue Grass soundtrack!! Have you a name for your boat yet? Mate here had a yacht called Dymphna (St Dymphna is the patron saint of the insane - or at least those with a mental affliction. Boat owning has to squeeze in under the bar of divine madness!! Is it an idea to incorporate some kind of dodger in the design of the cabin? Not traditional, but comfotable while sailing. Just a thought. You did a lot of work and it is nice to see that besides demolishing you are also rebuilding already. Great to see the hull being scraped clean in the meantime.
