Yes! I've been waiting for a light weight home candy cabinet like this. Surprised it took this long. I really like you can rotate the screen vertical or horizontal. Is it easy to rotate, like just push a button? Also I'm liking the dial for games like Arkanoid.
The screen rotation has to be done manually by physically removing the monitor and then re mounting it to the cabinet body via the supplied screws. The dial you are seeing is the volume control knob, and is not for gameplay.

You could just drop in an Astro City control panel that has a trackball if you want to go that route. There are all sorts of different control configuations made for the Astro City arcade that would fit inside this machine.
Looking forward to the pre-orders Hoping this will be sub $700 since there's no licensing fees. This looks like a perfect home for my Mister setup w jamma adapter.
I think this is going to be great, because like the guy said, it's not JUST for JAMMA boards such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, SNK etc, it can be hooked up to Coinops via PC. In my real honest opinion, I think this MAY shoot ones like Arcade1up and AtGames Legends Ultimate/Mini out of the water IF the pricing is right.
Honestly I think the core customer base for the Nova Blast isn't really the same as the consumers who buy the Arcade1Up and AtGames products. Sure there is some overlap of general arcade fans, but the Nova Blast is definitely geared more towards those who are more educated and familiar with arcades and their inner working components, while AtGames and Arcade1Up cater more to those whom are much less knowledgable and are looking for a quick nostalgia fix.
i see that that the button layout is the vewlix layout if you can get into contact with unico tell them to change it to the sega 1p and sega 2p button layout to make it more like the blast city
I think it may cost more, but if they can pull off the quality suggested in Cooltoy's video at the price you suggest and still make a profit, I'd buy one for sure.
Please show different sega panels installed. Please show screen frame data with a fighting game or shmup. Please have the option for the stickers to come on the side for those that want to paint the cabinet first. Please show someone sitting on a traditional taito 32cm candy cab stool and how their posture is in front of the cabinet.
It really is. :-( I have a vertical cabinet with a NOS 19 inch CRT arcade monitor that I cherish. I do at least think the CRT emulation is decent in retroarch now.
Does this monitor support 50 hz? Or only 60? It would be nice to have smooth scrolling with mortal kombat games (54 hz) or aditional amiga games (50 hz). Will the monitor support freesync/gsync? Retroarch allows to use variable refresh rates with freesync/gsymc which gives fenomenal results in emulation.
That is good to hear.. Hoping this is around $600 - kind of wierd that they don't want people to know the pricing and potential release day. But also good to hear it is maybe lower the 1K from the hint you gave. Thanks again for all the hard work you do. Sorry if I seem harsh sometimes. But I like being honest with my friends and others. I don't Lie like some youtubers just to save face...or to make myself seem ad friendly.
I think the price just isn't decided on yet. It's still in final part of testing and development so it could potentially still change. The price should be revealed in a few weeks according to the video.
Is there anyone you can contact for product suggestions? I really want one of these, but I'd like to see some sort of quick monitor rotation, almost like an Egret II. Even if the monitor snaps or slots into place, that would be wonderful. I can see myself having to rotate the monitor daily for my use case, and I don't want to have to DIY something, or constantly be screwing and unscrewing the monitor, putting wear and tear on the mounts.
They aren’t going to make the monitor have a rotating mech of any kind for this product release. Adding something like that would obviously raise the price and they seem pretty locked in with the design of the machine at this stage.
@@cooltoy Thanks for the information! I actually have a DIY idea to make rotation a bit easier without a full mechanism, or adding much, if anything, to manufacturing costs. Reached out to Unico not too long ago, so we'll see if they forward the suggestion. :-)
Any scanline options? one of the things i hated about Arcade 1up is the games look like pixelated shit without CRT filters and even then, theirs was trash. I really like what they are doing here but i really dont wana look at pixelated games. I might just hold out for a real candy cab if thats the case.
scanline options would be dependent on what sort of device/pcb you connect to the machine. There are things like the RetroTINK-4K out there that can faithfully reproduce the scan line look of early days, but it's very pricey.
We can look into possibly adding into our controller board but as Cool Toy states I also believe it might depend on what device is connected but will ask.

They will be resolved with ULM26 Pro 1440x1080 resolution to boot.
Can't wait for updates.....
Me too, really looking forward to the final result
yes please !!!!!
Could you put a CRT into one of these? Or will it only accommodate that 1 LCD monitor?
it's made specifically for a LCD monitor
Is this going to be available in the USA only? Website currently doesn't offer any shipping options other than USA.
It's possible it could change if we can get distribution from Liberty Games or some other retailer or distributor.
It’s a sad thing that CRT’s aren’t produced anymore.

Man... If this was like$300 id buy two of them for back to back sf2t. I know that's low-ball, but a man can dream.
I'd heard about this! looks pretty slick... heard it was gonna go for a lot? I just know no way I could afford it on our super tight budget, haha.
Hopefully theyre getting new boards for the Phoenix monitors because they use cheap 1366×768 TV boards right now, which are pretty bad
100%. Let's hope.
I would totally buy one if they had a MvC2 version but I'm pretty sure that's out of the question
You are responsible for adding your own games to this machine
@@cooltoy I think he means by artwork on the cabinet
So I can swap in a Astro City Cpo?
If you wish, yes
Is there enough room to store any Jamma PCB inside this cab ?
Yes
Does the control panel accept regular sanwa/sega astro city/blast city etc panels?
It’s a 1:1 panel so it should
@@cooltoy well gar dam, I'll take 2!
where can I buy those arcade boards? To be specific I am looking for king of fighters games.
Can you put a raspberry board in there or it has to be an arcade pcb?
You can put a pi in there
I would connect 1 of my nintendo switch consoles too it since I've got 100s of arcade games on it.
that would be cool to see 👍
Let me know when there's a version with an easily rotated monitor. I love my TATE games!
Monitor rotation needs to be more user friendly and faster, but it looks great!
Are you willing to pay more for something like that? If so how much?
@@cooltoyI once saw a DIY cabinet self-rotating the monitor with an electric motor when a vertical game was played.
@@cooltoy a rotatable VESA mount wouldn't add too much to the cost!
What was Contra Evolution running on?
a mini PC
If you look at video it's crisp and clear
I want to see 15Hz Jamma on the LCD. in fact, I don't: I want to be able to swap in a CRT!
If you want a CRT then this isn’t the product for you
If we could eventually get something around a 500 price point for an acrade machine that lets you play everything that would be perfect.
You’re never going to see a mass produced arcade machine with quality components at that price point sorry.
@@cooltoy i think its doable. You can do diy projects around that price that work fairly well with great controls.
