Kerry committed suicide on the day he was set to be indicted on drug charges. He was already on probation for a previous drug charge & was headed to jail where his secret of his amputated right foot wouldve been made public. He said he wouldve went to jail if his estranged wife would take him back after & she said no. Kerry was only 33, had he done that stint in prison I'm sure he could've continued his career but now as a guy who is open about wrestling with a prosthetic foot. That would've rejuvenated his career for a couple more years & he could've started a whole new happier chapter of his life but sadly all he saw was the horror that was immediately surrounding him in 1993 & chose to end it all. Sad.
So sad. Never solve a temporary problem with a permanent solution. It's so different nowadays how we have sympathy for problem , compared to back then it was just shame. They were built different down there in Texas both physically and mentally. By temporary problem I know he had a serious hell to go through with deug withdrawal, I'm sure he was broke at the end, and the thought of going to jail is never a good one. But the fact of the matter is he had his secrets but from what I've seen sometimes jail is the battling for someone helplessly addicted to drugs. He was looking at I'd say max maybe a year in jail and would have come out clean. Kerry's past had all caught up to him at once and he just couldn't see a way out. I know it sounds crazy I know his family was religious, and with that I truly believe Kerry wanted to be with his brothers and the moment he died he knew he'd be closer to them.😢 I also believe with the shame Kerry was feeling he thought it was honorable to go out the way he did. Guy was 33 life had barely began. I know ppl talk about the recreational drug and suicide but from what I've read and seen I think there is a direct connection to suicide with steroids. It messes with your hormones your mood. That's what makes it so tragic is that sure ppl will say Kerry had a drug problem but even through that they all say what a nice kid he was. That stuff can turn a great person into scum, and through his problems it seemed everyone loved Kerry. The tragedy is if only Kerry could have seen the horizon , I think everyone would of been willing to help . When ppl found out about the prosthetic they wouldn't give him a hard time. They would ve amazed with what he did with 1 foot. Like how we are all amazed he could do all that with 1 foot. Kerry believed that was the hontable way to go out and I like to think him and his brothers are having a grand ol time up there TOGETHER. I don't think the brothers felt they knew much outside of eachother When the first passed it almost felt like a chain reaction and if it wasn't for wrestling and big pat days it probably would have happened sooner. I hope you and your brothers are having a grand time up there !!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙏🏼🫡
Kerry was obviously not thinking clearly or rationally when he took his own life. The drugs and despair prevented him from seeing that things could and would eventually get better. He must have been incredibly ill to take himself out when he had two kids to live for. Maybe he felt his kids would be better off with him gone? He must have been in such emotional pain and felt so alone when he died. He probably really missed his brothers as well and I like to think he was met at the veil of death by them to usher him into the spirit world. Rest in eternal peace Kerry, David, Mike, Chris, Jack Jr., Natasha, Doris, and Fritz.
@@RoseRaines going to jail was likely the final indignity in hos eyes. But I strongly think had Mike & Chris not chose suicide as a way out, Kerry doesn't go through with it. According to Kerry's friends he had openly talked about how brave Chris was to not only take his own life but the manner in which he did it, by shooting himself. That's another reason why omitting Chris from The Iron Claw was a mistake but I'm not getting into all the missteps of that movie here. But unlike Mike & Chris, Kerry left children behind, young children at that. For that, some in the public were far more harsh on Kerry's suicide than Mike & Chris. His daughters Holly & Lacey don't seem to harbor any ill will toward their dad & that's good because that's not always the case. Kurt Cobain's daughter Francis Bean had publicly trashed her dad for years for taking his own life. Now I don't know if she still feels that way but the 30th anniversary of his death is later this year so we'll see if those feelings of resentment still exist.
Time restraints and over complicating the "Story" for the viewer. This is also why the time line and events dont all nesscearly match with the real events. Its not a documentary but an adaptation of the Von Erichs story. Kevin and the boys bring it up during their Talk is Jericho interview.
I think the movie should have at least mentioned Chris. Even briefly. Maybe show him be sick in a health clinic getting a breathing treatment for asthma. Cats on his arm in the background in another. Then a headstone before the next scene. It’s heartbreaking that the movie doesn’t mention him and acts like he never existed. He mattered. Rest easy Adkisson/Von Erich family.
I remember watch David and Harley Race matches in St. Louis growing up. I never knew how he died until now. I just watch the movie last night and I think your little documentary gave me more insight into the family.
You know I watched the Von Erichs they were thrilling and fun to watch. But what I'm really confused about is the actors playing these guys. Kerry Von Eric was nearly 6'3" tall at almost 230-240 pounds and Jeremy Allen white someone that's only 5'7 and 140 pounds is Kerry in the movie. Yeah I don't know about that.
He was pushed by his father not to fail he lost his foot with a motorcycle accident its unbelievable he was able to continue wrestling with one foot but i think he used drugs because he has a lot of pain if you life a dream comes a day its over some sooner some later but it will comes it overcomes from human to human some goes further some took his own life its really sad
I agree that casting could have chosen actors that more resembled the real men. Efron would have been better suited to play Kerry and the actor who played Mike would have been better suited for the role of Kevin. Great acting by all of the actors though including White.

Lord Kerry ,you had alot on your heart.❤
Good video
God bless Kevin
I use to watch the von erich on tv when I was little
Doris's Brother David passed away @ the age of 14 and David was named after him ☹️
Why wasn’t Chris Von Erich featured in the film?

It's a shame they didn't show Chris von Erich I was looking forward to seeing mjf wrestlings greatest heel to date
Noted kerry killed himself the same day he was to turn himself in to police
Know what else is a trip, he had a match scheduled that night VS angel of death (of uwf fame) for Global wrestling i assume
The film was so good I was not expecting it to be so good
I was too young to remember how they wrestle but I remember the commentator Yelling "THE CLAW"😮❤

I thought everyone did a great job. It's much more important to have good actors in the roles. It's not a film about wrestling. It's about a family.
@@mjwbulichI think its 50 50 in biopics. You would not put Meryl Streep as Chyna or Anthony Hopkins as Triple H.

So sad that all but one is dead. I know there is a Lacey that wrestles but I don’t know if she is a daughter or granddaughter
She's a daughter of Kerry. Kevin has 2 boys, Marshall and Ross, that are in wrestling these days.
Lacey is Kerry daughter
@@MrSpence1124 thanks
I think Chris Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth would have been a lot better choices for Kevin and kerry von erich.
Only issue is that they are both trash actors
Why did they have to get small men to play them in the film. The casting for Kerry is a disgrace
Cruiserweight Kerry didn't work for me either
@@arlopear7136 welterweight Kerry more like. The dude is only 5ft 7, he was better off playing 5ft 5 Chris Von Erich
I agree, casting was terrible in the movie
Hollywood people are all about the numbers I see the actor is born one day on the calendar in front of Kerry's suicide date
I agree that casting could have chosen actors that more resembled the real men. Efron would have been better suited to play Kerry and the actor who played Mike would have been better suited for the role of Kevin.

Life is a bitch and then you die.
The movie has terrible casting!
