Seeing the Von Erich's made me wished i was a kid in the 80s watching wrestling!!! Wow what a time it was for wrestling!!! I went out and watched the iron claw and loved the film and yes i shed a few tears!!!
While living in Dallas for a few years I was lost on the Highways down there and got turned around somehow. Next thing I know I am driving down this road and there before my eyes appears the Legendary Sportatorium. It was like my childhood mecca to the holy lands was complete. The home of all those legendary wrestlers that I grew up with was right there. The first thing that came to my mind was the Von Erichs. I was a huge Kevin Von Erich fan and I also remember when Kerry debuted for the WWE as the Texas Tornado. I was so in awe to see one of the guys I liked to represent my neck of the woods at the National level. This family made my early life so much more enjoyable and I thank Kevin here on Earth and the other brothers in Heaven for that gift. Til we meet again in the after life.
Massive Von Erich fan since I was a kid now 45. Grew up watching them wrestle their way into our hearts but the tragedy of losing so many brought me to tears time and time again. How Fritz handled it all is amazing. Such an amazing talented group of individuals that brought so much joy to their fans. They may be gone but NEVER forgotten. Much love and respect to the Von Erich clan. Iron Claw for life!
I remember watching this unfold. As a child, i watched David, Mike, Chris and Kerry wrestle and die. When Kerry died, i couldn't believe it. He had beaten Ric Flair for the NWA World Championship, he looked like a million dollars, and he was an instant success in WWF when he arrived. He just couldn't keep his substance issues under control. I went to thier graves in Texas. No family should have to live through what they have.
My Mom and I both broke down and cried when we found out that Kerry was dead. And she had only seen him in the WWF/E. I became addicted to wrestling in the early 80s and Kerry was one that I credit for my addiction.
I was 15 yrs old when Kerry died dude was down to earth met Kerry a few times when the Sportatorium was up and running Sportatorium was bigger than Wwf a the time in Dallas

Only got to watch him wrestle for a few years, but I'll always be a fan. Always Kerry. You're the best of us.
I blame the Father 110% for all 4 of the 5 Bros deaths (excluding baby Jack). He pushed them to live his fantasy of being a Champ and the pressure cost them their lives. Tragic and heartbreaking. Especially for Kevin. Such a good soul. One complaint about the movie is that Chris wasnt mentioned who was also a Wrestler. He deserved to be remembered as much as Kerry, Mike and David.
I discovered the story of the Von Erichs at the beginning of the year when I looked up the story behind "the Iron Claw" As the oldest of 4 brothers (we're all alive and well, knock on wood), my brain literally cannot comprehend the scale of the tragedy that Kevin has lived through. To lose all one's brothers is frightening to me. I discovered what I can only consider to be my worst nightmare. Seeing Kevin so calm in these interviews here, as well as how he was in the "Dark Side of the Ring" documentary, is truly inspiring, and makes me even more thankful for the life I've had
I came here after seeing Iron Claw Zac Efron should have won an oscar for this perfomance and Kevin Von Erich. He was a survivor. So sorry for his brothers and Von Erich has their name in WWE Hall of Fame. Finally there story has been told for everyone to see. Lily James did a great job as Pam which was Kevin's wife. How Kevin's family will finally see the truth about their family. I wish them well. RIP to the Von Erich brothers.
As a teen,I was able to watch world class championship wrestling on cable, the Von Erichs vs. The Freebirds or any villain who dared challenge the m. Then as the Texas Tornado, watching Kerry win the wwf intercontinental title. His and their legacy resonates to this day. Triumph over tragedy through FAITH. To all from Vermont,Merry Christmas and no iron claws to your loved ones.🤟🙏🤓🌲
My dad, uncle, and grandfather used to always travel from Baltimore, Maryland waayyyy down to Dallas, TX during the summer in the 1980’s just to watch the Von Erich’s. They were Huge all over the country.
Kerry Von Erich looked like he should have been on the cover of one of those tacky romance novels...he certainly made Fabio look like a cheap imitation. By all accounts, he was an incredibly kind and nice man as well. The total package. I wish the casting in the movie would have done him justice.
Which one is which I assume Kevin is Zac Efron right? if so that actually is the right choice for him, is Kerry the british or whatever actor or the kid from that shameless show one? But yeah he seemed to be not only the brother who was by far the best physically built and most in shape but probably the most handsome of the bunch as well.
Bret said in his book that Kerry talked about wanting to see David, Mike, and Chris again. Bret told him his daughters needed him more then his brothers did. It’s kinda really freaking creepy but mostly sad. One of the best in the ring didn’t even realize how much people cared about him and didn’t wanna see him go.
As a young kid in the UK in the 90s WWF as it was back then was my childhood and the Texas Tornado was my absolute favourite wrestler of all time, knowing about the one foot only just finding out watching this wow the guy was even more amazing RIP you Legend
"The Yellow Rose of Texas" was David Von Erich, not Kerry. Kerry was the "Modern Day Warrior" and "The Texas Tornado". Kerry wore a yellow rose on the back of his ring jacket in honor of David.
I grew up a wrestling in fans in the 80s. I knew about the Von Erichs and Kerry as the Texas Tornado was so cool. I had no idea he wrestled with a prosthetic leg. That is just incredible.
This was the wildest story, I just learned of the Von Erich’s a few months ago, so sad what their family went through. Kevin’s family is thriving and keeping the legacy alive though
At one time they were as big as it gets. Even had their own board game. Most beloved texas wrestling family of all time. You should definitely watch the new movie.
To me, the most chilling scene in The Iron Claw, was Kerry getting out of bed on crutches, and you see him hobble out to his kitchen with the lower half of his shin as a stump. I always thought the amputation occurred right above the ankle. I had no idea that he had lost that much of his shin.
Dad said "I wanted Doctors, lawyers, engineers but, no, they wanted to be wrestlers"......but how many times did he tell Kerry to do something else after he lost his foot? That he's not a failure for retiring for his health? It makes me wonder...and it also makes me think...I'm motivated like that, the times I thought about taking my life were bc I felt like a failure. It's a specific type of mindset. Exacerbated by physical pain I was in from the sport I loved. I would not say Dad killed his sons, that's not fair but, this dynamic is a cautionary tale and highlights how we, as humans, can do better with each other in the future.
I didn’t like the fact that they left Chris out and they changed many things that made no sense. The real story was so much more sad. For example, Kerry had kids when he killed himself. The movie didn’t just gloss that over but made it a point to say he was single with no family; what’s the purpose of that?
Maybe his kids didn't participate in the making of the movie, therefore it was safer for the producers not to mention them. Remember that this isn't a documentary, it's a fiction movie based on real life events.
@@jonathanturbide2232 The second half of your comment makes sense, but the first half doesn't. If his kids didn't participate, then you don't use their names*, but you don't have to leave them out entirely unless that's the creative direction you've chosen. They also chose to leave out the reasons why Kerry killed himself. The fact that he had been arrested for cocaine and forging prescriptions for painkillers. He was facing prison time and he didn't want to go to prison. Furthermore, he reportedly asked his wife if she would wait for him and she said no, so portraying Kerry as completely single and childless was not a wise creative choice. * In Gia, the 1998 biopic where Angelina Jolie played supermodel Gia Carangi, they changed the name of Gia's girlfriend for the film. They didn't remove her from the story of Gia's life. They just changed the name.
I've read the reason they ledft Chris out was, his death was so similar to Kerry's and his time in wrestling was so brief that if they left him in, it would have seemed "unrealistic"
This is the perspective of an outsider who can never know what the families relationship was actually like but Fritz saying that hearing “I really love you dad” should have alerted him feels very telling towards the darker side of the father sons relationship. It could be a product of the time and place but it’s still a saddening aspect of this whole situation
I was watching guest booker with Gary Hart. Gary to the boys was known as Uncle Gary. He told Fritz what was going on. When Kerry lost his foot. Gary pitched for Kerry fessing up for pain killers but he did it for the fans so he wouldn't let them down. Leading to him showing he had one foot. Gary knew the people would stand stronger with Kerry. Gary delivery when he described it was gold. It's sad Kerry couldn't see through the clouds that there is sunshine on the other side.
Man that family had it rough....back in 80's living in Texas, we would hear a Von Erich die every other year. I used to watch wrestling because of them. They were great in their day.
RIP BELOVED KERRY if he was still here he'd be 64yrs we were born in the same year.May all those brothers RIP. You are THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME MUCH LOVE and RESPECT to you KEVIN.❤
I never knew he had amputated leg until a few years ago ...was watching some video's of him on you tube....in wwe in 1 match he's amputated leg came out by the ring he slid under ring & put it on...one wrestler saw the whole thing
Makes you wonder what would have happened if WWF had tried to poach Kerry in 1985, before the wreck. Dude was built like what Arnold always wanted to be. I could have seen him having at least a 10-year career in WWF. Hell, a Stone Cold vs. Kerry Von Erich match is a Wrestlemania dream.
I saw Kerry and Kevin in Amarillo. They were about to come out of this hallway but i noticed they stopped to pray first. That was something I remembered the most.
@raymesquite Thank you for sharing that. You never know what someone is going through until you walk a mile in their shoes. I think all the brothers did the best they could with the tools they had to work with.
I'm in the minority that did not like The Iron Claw. So for me one of the positives that did come out of that movie is all the unearthing of programs like this & newscasts of the actual events that I haven't seen before that are being posted with the release of this movie. I didn't think the movie was bad, it was very well acted but the film inspired by a true story had a little too much fiction for my liking & I thought it was bland and rushed. But that's just me, I'm not disparaging the vast majority of people who loved this movie, it just didn't work for me

Seeing the Von Erich's made me wished i was a kid in the 80s watching wrestling!!! Wow what a time it was for wrestling!!! I went out and watched the iron claw and loved the film and yes i shed a few tears!!!
Kevin: "I'm the only one left." I remember thinking this when Kerry died and just feeling so awful for him.
The Von Erichs was a great wrestling family.
Kerry was a heck of a wrestler.
Kerry Von Erich was a force in the ring, and much love to Kevin for persevering and keeping the family alive.
The Iron Claw is such a great film, the bond among the brothers was beautiful to watch
Chris never wrestled.😂
@jimh.412 He had a tag team with Kevin, and with Chris Adams. His debut match was against Percy Pringle (Paul Bearer). So, yes, he did wrestle.
@@markabboud4855 🫵🤡
@@jimh.412yes he did
I was 15 yrs old when Kerry died dude was down to earth met Kerry a few times when the Sportatorium was up and running Sportatorium was bigger than Wwf a the time in Dallas
As a kid this family was our wrestling hero's ❤ can't thank God enough 🙌
The Von Erich family was the first wrestling family I ever seen on TV.
@kimwaddell4218 I'm happy we had that opportunity back then, today's kids will never know or feel what it was like !!
Heartbreaking to see the Von Erich’s go through so much 😢
Jeremy Allen White Did An Amazing Job.
RIP Kerry Von Erich.
RIP Mike Von Erich.
RIP Chris Von Erich.
RIP David Von Erich.
RIP Jack Adkissons Jr.
Stone Cold Steve Austin said the Von Erichs were a big inspiration for him wanting to become a professional wrestler.
God bless the Von Erichs
Pretty cool that they were all inducted into the WWE Hall of fame the same night..
Growing up I love watching this man, truly is master of iron claw,my most favorite match was when he wrestled ric flair,I'll never forget when he had the claw locked in on flair for more than 2 minutes, brutal r.i.p kve you are missed 😢
I never knew he was an amputee , I was in a physio hospital for 7 months and 25 days, I lived with amputees I know all the hurdles and for Kerry to wrestle with the prosthetic is absolutely mind blowing
Yes, and multiple wrestlers accidentally pulled his boot off. you can find several wrestlers talking about it in interviews. They did not know either.
I can’t even imagine the pain Kevin has gone through 😞 god it’s heartbreaking.
Rest in peace to all of the Von Erich’s that have passed. God bless Kevin
Lol they were terrible people.😂
It's so tragic what happened to that family.
just watched the movie sad.....hats of to kevin moving from texas for a change & a fresh start for hes family
A long time ago in an interview I remember him saying he moved because he thought the area was full of actual demons! He has def had to deal with alot himself.
I haven't seen the movie 🎥. I cry so gonna be sure to have a box of tissues ready.
@@kimwaddell4218 yes you better..at end of movie shows Kevin in Hawaii with he's children & grandchildren..all living with him....im sure he's kids & grandkids gave there dad lots of love..

Hopefully my local theater here in Florida gets it. If not will have to wait till Redbox, or Peacock
@@kimwaddell4218 my city doesn't have a theater so we went up 30 miles up the road to watch it....the way it sounds there dad put to much pressure on them. Sad to .but you got to imagine other wrestlers maybe going thru same thing .drugs .alcoholic.. Divorce.. Family issues...thats what I wanted to do become a wrestler I even wrestled in school...glad I didn't
The Von Erich’s would be absolute superstars in today’s wrestling world. Their story is so sad.
Kerry Von Erich was indeed my favorite wrestler of the Von Erich favorite and i miss him so much god bless his soul.
Went over to a friends house to watch Summerslam 90 back in England, and without knowing who the Von Erichs were or what World Class was I was totally blown away by Kerry's look. I really said out loud, "Who the hell is this guy?" And Perfect sold him perfectly. My favourite match from that PPV simply from the story telling aspect and both wrestler's ability to do so. Only got to watch him wrestle for a few years, but I'll always be a fan. Always Kerry. You're the best of us.
The poor mother. She was the strongest of them all.
It so eerie how Holt McCallany looked so much like the real Fritz Von Erich. Great casting...
Academy award performance for sure
RIP Kerry Von Erich (February 3, 1960 - February 18, 1993), aged 33
You will be remembered as a legend.
You know, Fritz speaks rather openly and normally for a man that buried I think five of his kids.. it's a little unsettling.
I'm thinking the same thing. Kevin von Erich, and even Chris Adams, seem more troubling talking about Kerry's suicide.
Well yeah! The dad is the source of it! That narcissistic bastard is a HUGE reason for these suicides with his children
😢 prayers for Kevin a strong man
God Bless Kerry Von Erich & The Whole Von Erich Family.
They Definitely Deserve Love & Respect. 👍🏻🪙👍🏻
Kerry looked like a super hero jumped off the page of your favorite comic and into the ring.
I discovered the story of the Von Erichs at the beginning of the year when I looked up the story behind "the Iron Claw"
As the oldest of 4 brothers (we're all alive and well, knock on wood), my brain literally cannot comprehend the scale of the tragedy that Kevin has lived through.
Unimaginable tragedy to lose 5 brothers.
My dad, uncle, and grandfather used to always travel from Baltimore, Maryland waayyyy down to Dallas, TX during the summer in the 1980’s just to watch the Von Erich’s. They were Huge all over the country.
What’s amazing is this Von Erich family story to this day still being talked about after so many years!
4:55 is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen.
Met Kerry in 1991 at SSF Ca @ Taff's Gym. Good guy🙏💯
Just watched The Iron Claw...what a tear jerker...Darn Fritz..😢
To be fair... Kevin said Fritz was inaccurately portrayed in the film.
Addiction can make things seem hopeless unfortunately…
And Kerry was so Hansome too ❤ and those boys were all so talented 👍
I am from Dallas tx. I grew up in the 70s watching the von Erich's family's. Kevin David Kerry Mike Chris. The legendary fritz von Erich.
As a young kid in the UK in the 90s WWF as it was back then was my childhood and the Texas Tornado was my absolute favourite wrestler of all time, knowing about the one foot only just finding out watching this wow the guy was even more amazing RIP you Legend
Like Kevin, I lost all my siblings too. I know exactly what that poor man is going through 💔
Who else is here cuz the Iron Claw 🎥
What's also sad is seeing how far away 1993 is. Time certainly flies by.
I know time waits for no one
"The Yellow Rose of Texas". I remember watching him when I was a kid. I was always inspired to hit the gym after seeing him.
"The Yellow Rose of Texas" was David Von Erich, not Kerry. Kerry was the "Modern Day Warrior" and "The Texas Tornado". Kerry wore a yellow rose on the back of his ring jacket in honor of David.
Kerry was my absolute favorite! Father was a freaking jerk! RIP Beautiful man! I'm 62 and always watched them! 😢
I grew up watching the Von Erich’s when I was a kid . Kerry was amazing in the ring .
The Ultimate Warrior was def inspired by Kerry, didn't realize it as a kid but see it now. Legend.
I think he helped train him ( when he was the dingo warrior).
Now that's a wondrous man. Wish he were. Still here. ❤❤❤
I had no idea wow what a remarkable man. Alot of respect for him now.
After watching and seeing Fritz talk about Kerry... i hate that man's guts.
Watched the movie today and as 90’s kid I feel like I missed out on a huge moment in time 😢
I was sad AF when Kerry died. I saw Chris wrestle a few days before he passed away, and got his autograph.
To me, the most chilling scene in The Iron Claw, was Kerry getting out of bed on crutches, and you see him hobble out to his kitchen with the lower half of his shin as a stump. I always thought the amputation occurred right above the ankle. I had no idea that he had lost that much of his shin.
I was shocked also. I came across an interview with Fritz stating that they only amputated half of Kerry’s foot.
Prob to prevent the public from digging into his family too much…
This is the perspective of an outsider who can never know what the families relationship was actually like but Fritz saying that hearing “I really love you dad” should have alerted him feels very telling towards the darker side of the father sons relationship. It could be a product of the time and place but it’s still a saddening aspect of this whole situation
Yes, Kevin says how close they were to their father but we they really?
I was watching guest booker with Gary Hart. Gary to the boys was known as Uncle Gary. He told Fritz what was going on. When Kerry lost his foot. Gary pitched for Kerry fessing up for pain killers but he did it for the fans so he wouldn't let them down. Leading to him showing he had one foot. Gary knew the people would stand stronger with Kerry. Gary delivery when he described it was gold. It's sad Kerry couldn't see through the clouds that there is sunshine on the other side.
Kerry Von Erich had that ultimate warrior look before everyone else 💯
Man that family had it rough....back in 80's living in Texas, we would hear a Von Erich die every other year. I used to watch wrestling because of them. They were great in their day.
I love this family, so much lost but so much love.❤
Losing his foot must have played a part in his state of mind
RIP BELOVED KERRY if he was still here he'd be 64yrs we were born in the same year.May all those brothers RIP. You are THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME MUCH LOVE and RESPECT to you KEVIN.❤
I always noticed Kerry walked with a limp but never knew why.
I so wanna see The IronClaw movie.
I never knew he had amputated leg until a few years ago ...was watching some video's of him on you tube....in wwe in 1 match he's amputated leg came out by the ring he slid under ring & put it on...one wrestler saw the whole thing
@@dannyjackson2062
Neither did I.
WWE said he was in a Motorcycle Accident but didn't say full details.
Same here I never knew that back then. Just so sad the struggles he went through so much talent taking away so young. He left us way too soon 🙏

I couldn't believe it when it was announced that Kerry was dead. He was my favorite.
The movie is fantastic...a must watch
Kerry was a friend of mine we would stand in line at the bank in Irving Texas and talk he was a cool guy
❤ miss you Kerry!
Vince had been trying to poach Kerry since at least 83'. Kerry just had zero reason to go.
The interview of Fritz puts off a different vibe than the movie for sure.
I saw Kerry and Kevin in Amarillo. They were about to come out of this hallway but i noticed they stopped to pray first. That was something I remembered the most.
Lol they were druggies 😂
@@jimh.412 I don't care
@raymesquite Thank you for sharing that. You never know what someone is going through until you walk a mile in their shoes. I think all the brothers did the best they could with the tools they had to work with.
@@rbee1804 Lol what are you talking about? They had everything-fame, fortune, women and they threw it all away. What a waste.

But that's just me, I'm not disparaging the vast majority of people who loved this movie, it just didn't work for me
I was 9 when this happened and it felt like a bad dream. It’s just so sad Kerry couldn’t get over the demons
They should have gave the movie another hour run time and included Chris
It is tearful most of the brother's committed suicide. That is devastating.
