This is very helpful.I'm currently making a small bag and the gussets are driving me crazy.Wondering about linings and such,and also how to actually orient the gusset.The bag is a simple front piece,back piece with top flap and a gusset and I'm wondering if I should place the gusset arking outwards,inwards or in an S shape (one gusset edge goes in the bag and the other goes outside) . Any suggestions or tips would be very helpful !

Hi Ciel - I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I'll take a stab. Skive the edges of the gusset lining and outer. Apply glue to just the outer edges of the gusset. Attach the lining to the back of the outer and when you are doing this, curve your gusset so that the gusset is curved in and the seam allowance area is set out.
