The thing about Electric Callboy, and what makes them so great, is that they don't care about being the best, the most talented, etc. They just simply want to make music and above all, have fun.

While I'm 99% sure Electric Callboy falls in the "metalcore" genre, I'm very partial to the "meme core" designation someone else applied to them, because their music (and videos) since Hypa Hypa have been catchy, fun, meme-worthy, and just an absolute delight. They're truly the "This is where the fun metal things happen" band, and I love them for it.
They are electronicore, which is a subgenre of metalcore, but I definitely rank them as memecore because electronicore often leans more heavily into the metalcore and prog than EC does.

I've thought the genre electric callboy does is "partycore". Not many people like harsh vocals in the grand scheme of things but combining them with a techno sound and clean vocals mixed in makes their stuff a great thing to play at parties
The girls perfectly choreographed in front and the lads doing dad dance at the back is hilarious. According to the "behind the scenes" they weren't trying to look goofy but just couldn't get the moves right.,
I’ve loosely followed BabyMetal for years, but I found EC through this channel the first time you covered them, and I’ve not stopped listening to them since, they’re genius.
All of them are extremely talented with multiple side projects, and their aggressive happiness is refreshing AF. They do serious music too and damn it’s good, if you listen to their full body of work and l watch their vlogs, you can see they know exactly where their feet are. This is a great collab.
Everything Electric Callboy have done in the past three years has been absolute genius.
And don;t be fooled by how much fun they are. What they do musically is extremely complicated and difficult, and they do it flawlessly.
The remark I always see about Electric Callboy is "they don't take themselves seriously, but they do take their music seriously"

@@RolandDeschain1 I think We Butter The Bread With Butter does it a hundred times better, Enter Shikari even, and despite me still following EC, their sound since Crystals/The Scene has really dumbed down and they lean more and more into their gimmick.

They have made a song that metalheads want to dance to and non-metal fans want to headbang to with abandon. That's quite an achievement. It has a 90's feel when people were being exposed to both grunge and dance music and wanted to listen to both.
They have crafted something that appeals to everyone exept the minority of people it was probably never going to appeal to anyway no matter what they did. I'm sure most fans who are still on the fence will come around when they see or hear it live.
Why did they do this? Because they knew they could do it and knew we needed it.

If they do it'll be at babymetal's set as I think babymetal are playing another fest during ECs set
When they played it at FOX_FEST it was during Babymetal's set. Kevin and Nico came out and the Kami Band played the instrumental parts.
They played this song live in Japan, I would imagine they'll do the same where Nico and Kevin appear on BABYMETAL's show. But I don't imagine this will be done very often because of the outfits Nico and Kevin wear. They essentially have to have someone's hand up their ass to wire their in ears up.

I'm not a big Babymetal fan (too much J-pop in the J-metal for me, but they are undeniably great at what they do), but I did check out one of the live performances they uploaded to TH-cam and it was very enjoyable. Pure spectacle.

So glad you are doing this one. I was going to suggest it last week.. Wasn't sure where to suggest. I love this. So much fun. I didn't see the seriousness in it, but I was just bouncing up and down to it. I love that BabyMetal did clean and one of them did harsh vocals. Hard to pick it out without headphones as Electric Callboy is also harmonizing with them towards the end. Really cool.
If an algorithm can suppress trends I’m sure they absolutely invent them.

That was a great observation about the similarities to The Darkness and being taken seriously.
Both bands on most of their tracks are about fun and getting you to dance along with them. They do have serious songs but even those are meant to get a certain emotion out of you. Its all specifically targeted the way they write. I appreciate this was not a "featuring" track and that both groups wrote it together as a true collaboration. That being said this was a great blend of both their styles. Both clean singers harmonized well and its fun that one of the Babymetal ladies can do the growl vocals and they meshed the harsh together. I much prefer the cohesive blend than a juxtaposition like some artists do. Hopefully they do more work together because this is just a fun upbeat addition to the playlist.
I appreciate your honest noodling at the opening and closing segments. Half the time you’re like “ehhhhh good enough” and I think that takes some balls.

I just saw this live at FOX_FEST in Japan. They gave us the best 5 minutes of fun and happiness of our lives. BABYMETAL invited Electric Callboy to their stage, and they sang and danced together. The entire arena, full of the crowd, got lit and exploded! It was incredible to see this song live! It’s so easy to join the party! Ra Ta Ta Ta Ta! and Ooh, Ooh!🤘🦊🤘

This is the coolest and funniest Babymetal reaction I've ever seen.
This is just pure, empty your head fun, and I love it to bits. As a Babymetal fan, my understanding of their origin story is that Koba, their manager and producer, was an employee of Amuse who was inspired to combine the serious metal music he loved with the J-pop Amuse was literally manufacturing. So in a way it's a semi-serious band. But they've become much more than the sum of their parts so to speak, and they are all very real people that their fans really care for.
This song is so good and the video a lot of fun.
I love the behind the scenes stuff EC have said on this, that Babymetal wanted to meet them (which surprised Kevin), and also that they wrote this together as a full collaboration. It felt like both sides just really enjoyed working together, and it wasn't a money-grab. I don't know Babymetal well, but have followed EC for quite a few years - lot of respect for their love of music.

Been a huge fan of both of these bands since 2013. Was at BABYMETAL's first 2 UK shows back in 2014 and they've always been incredible.
I get why some people see a gimmick with both bands, but they're both legit and make fantastic music imo.
Their music makes me smile in the same way that The Darkness stuff did, and music that makes you smile should always be encouraged.
