"I don't speak Spanish..." I was Rolling!!!! LoL!!!!!!!!! I can't help but think that she may have been thinking of The Warning! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
This, this, this! That track is easily the best example of at least some of what Su can do. She is so talented. (Although, Moa is still my favourite. 😂😇)
@@gozuam1617 If you listen to how they mixed those parts, you can hear that the first chorus is Su-dominant, the second chorus, when EC breaks up BM's karaoke night, it's Nico dominant, the third time is a 50/50 mix of their voices. I believe that there is a musical mirroring of the theme of the lyrics and video...
My favorite part of this video is the EC guys singing "Fufu" during the "Bun bun bun" refrain. It's two German metal singers providing the Japanese onomatopoeia for a schoolgirl giggle and that just makes me smile.
Yes, spoken Japanese and Spanish have pretty much the same vowels, consonant and consonant+vowel sounds, that’s why it’s easier for us to understand and speak Japanese. (Kanjis are a nightmare in any case) I can write down a Babymetal song in romaji easily, because Su-metal’s singing it’s so clear and precise, even with the heavy metal band behind her, it’s easy to understand.
This was excellent, love the analysis, thank you! Others also mention "Monochrome" from the first take channel, completely agree for vocal acumen, but I would like to add to that to also then watch the Monochrome (pia arena 2023 live version) to get a contrast of her one-take vocal rendition and a recent live performance by the band. That said, you can pick virtually any live performance of any song from the last 12 years and you will be blown away. Su-Metal is one of a kind.
Babymetal are the three girls, with Su-metal as the lead vocalist, and Moametal and Momometal as backup; Momo also does harsh vocals. Su is known for her vowels. A good song to hear that is Monochrome, I would choose the PIA Arena Live version. Another good song is Megitsune.
Great first reaction ... you will love Su-metal's vocals if you watch more of their videos ... but please use live performances so you get her natural voice without all the over-processing etc of the studio recordings. Even among Japanese speakers her vowels, diction and pronunciation are exceptionally clear and very precise when she sings. I once read a comment from someone who had hearing problems and had never enjoyed music at all ... until he heard Su-metal singing. Her voice was the first thing he had ever heard that was clear to him. He was inspired to buy the best hearing aids and devices just to listen to her singing and for the first time in his life he was able to really understand and enjoy music.
I disagree. Although most of the songs are best live, there are several that are better if you watch the official video because the video is part of what makes the song so good(Megitsune, Karate, Iine, are best if you watch the offical...whereas Rondo of Nightmare, Shanti Shanti, Papaya, Headbanger, and more are better live...just my opinion
@@musicandmoviefan9217 I agree, all the videos are good and should be seen (especially the ones you said and I would add Doki Doki Morning), but - and I can only speak for myself and how I hear them of course, so also just my own opinion - generally the live audio is better.
Veronna welacome to the Fox hole Su-Metal is known for her precision ,power ,vowels and sustain . They made a video for the First take channel called Monochrome piano version. Great reaction 🤘🦊
I‘ve been blasting this on repeat the last few days. Never actually heared about Babymetal before this collab, gotta say I‘m hooked. ^^ Eager to hear what your take on this is.
You should try to see more about Babymetal. Try Babymetal death legend 1997,karate, syncopation. Ahhh and the news songs, like, monochrome, and so many others. You will love it. Babymetal is a Japanese kawai (cute)metal
Hi Verona, welcome to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥 This could have been a great song for your partner to analyze the growlings,. either you're such a lovely vocal coach I've ever met, but I gotta be honest you kinda remind me another Canadian reactor it's been a long time since I don't see her. Here's a brief info about this Japanese group: BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year. -YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. There's no other group like them around and teaming up with this group from Germany just elevated them even higher. If you like Jpop and edm elements then you gonna find a lot of cool songs blended with heavy metal in their latest album "The Other One" released last year. Songs like Divine Attack - Shingeki, METALIZM, Time Wave and Light and Darkness among other great songs as well tracks and live performance from early era will make you bounce and rock with this amazing group. Last weekend they did the live premiere of this song in Japan at FOX_FEST (a festival held by BM) and everyone went wild with this collab. The girl in the middle is the lead singer SuMetal and she actually dance less than the other girls (MoaMetal and MomoMetal) because she sings most of the time but regardless she can dance and sing and you won't even notice she's out of breath. Btw in this collab during the chorus one of the singers of EC is singing along with SuMetal from BabyMetal that's why it sounds different, you can notice that in the section when she's singing in Japanese. And talking about rap she loves to do that and you can hear it in a song called BxMxC live at Budokan 2021 is the best way to enjoy it. Next suggestion to enjoy a little bit more of her vocal technique: - Monochrome live at Makuhari Messe 2023 I totally get what you said about the pure vowels. Btw it is said that in Japan there is one of biggest disco ball in the world, but don't quote that on me. Thanks again for sharing your vocal analysis and hope to see you around with more BM songs. See you next time 🦊🤘❤

Thanks for this reaction and analysis! I've watched a dozen reactions to this song by now (beside listening to it on repeat), and it is always a joy to see the smiles getting broader with each second. Thanks also for the tip regarding the vowels Babymetal are the three girls, Suzuka Nakamoto ("Su-metal"), Moa Kikuchi ("Moa-metal") and Momoko Okazaki ("Momo-metal"). When performing live, they have a band of excellent session musicians behind them, the so called Kami band. They started about ten-eleven years ago, but had met before that in an idol show on Japanese TV. At the time, they were in their very early teens. It would be correct to describe them as a producer driven vocal and dance project rather than a traditional rock band, but the term "industry plants" does not do them justice at all. They've been around for over ten years now, and as they grow up their personalities begin to influence their work more and more, especially during the last couple of years. Their producer, a Mr. Kobayashi ("Koba-metal"), had the idea of blending metal and J-Pop, so he backed Su's clear lead vocals and three-piece idol pop choreographies with heavy guitar riffs and frenetic double bass pedal drumming, both of which are typical for metal. It sounds like it should not work, but it did. Over the years, the concept has evolved, but mixing genres, especially metal with anything else, is still Babymetal's DNA. Maybe that is the reason why they could blend so well with Electric Callboy, who are notorious genre mixers themselves. Babymetal's lyrics are usually either about dancing and having fun or about perseverance while facing hardships and getting through hard times. A number of the earlier comments have already suggested Monochrome as the next song to listen to. I agree; a beautiful, rather lyricals song.. Each of those versions mentioned has its merits. Monochrome PIA Arena 2023 is a full blown stadium show, gorgeous and emotional. It shows you what to expect when attending a Babymetal show, albeit more low key. Monochrome - The First Take is a very stripped down piano arrangement, more initmate, but very intense. Probably the better option if you want to focus on Su's vocal abilities. You'll only see Su and Moa at The First Take, as Momoko was not an official member of Babymetal at that point. If you are more interested in their party mode, my choice would be Metali, live at the fabrique, Milan. Impossible not to love them. I am really excited to watch you and Mark doing a team analysis of an Electric Callboy song. Sounds promising indeed. Greetings from Germany!
Maybe I can help you, Babymetal started in 2010 when they were 11, 11 and 12 years old, the word idol might confuse you with TV programs like American Idols, etc. because Japanese idols are not that way. The group Babymetal was part of Sakura Gakuin did release a DVD from the early times and I think maybe even got broadcasted on TV, but they are not a TV show. They are a J-Pop idol group, basically: singing and dancing. But for the company, this group is not a regular group, it's a training group, they took their most promising young talented girls and give put them in it to get as much experience as possible, which is also why they did photo shoots and acting, public speak/interviews, etc. as their activities. Interesting you picked a fan cam.
@@autohmae Thanks for setting me straight regarding SG beeing or not beeing a TV show. Otherwise I am pretty aware of their purpose and how they operated, but made a concious decision to leave the early beginnings out of my comment. I didn't want to overwhelm Veronna with too much details. Yes, fancams are usually a tradeoff, dictated by the camera operators position, equipment and his/her skills. I love that particular fancam, because it has some gorgeous, uncut close-ups in it, without losing the overall picture of the choreo. It must have been shot from the first row, right at the barricade.
For BABYMETAL I would suggest recent live performances of their songs Monochrome, Road of Resistance, and Megitsune, from their PIA Arena 2023 concerts. Monochrome: th-cam.com/video/8pvxCzhBsTM/w-d-xo.html Road of Resistance: th-cam.com/video/4XYMvGJy1JI/w-d-xo.html Megitsune: th-cam.com/video/RorkQ79V-68/w-d-xo.html Recent performance playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL7Y918oJxXaYGAlhN3DLd5AAoye11F3o4.html
As you mentioned a workout and weightlifting and cardio. Electric Callboy - Pump it. The ULTIMATE workout song. The after workout song would be "Pump it (velvet version" that even would be more interesting for you, as it is only clean Nico) And when you are home you might think. I would like some "Babymetal - Gimme chocolate", which works as cardio workout very well too. And as you only saw Babymetal 1st time here, you might be shocked, as that video is 10+ years.
With Babymetal's original lineup, there would be a couple of songs that Su sang solo (Akatsuki, Rondo of Nightmare, No Rain, No Rainbow, and Amore) and a couple of songs Yui & Moa (this combo was referred to as Black Babymetal) would sing together (Song 4, Onedari Daisakusen, GJ, and Sis. Anger) on each album. In addition, on special occasion, (usually the girl's birthdays) they will let one of the other members sing Headbanger so if you ever see someone talking about Moabanger, Yuibanger, or Momobanger that's what they mean.
If you'd like to hear the best example of BABYMETAL's vocals, check out the version of their song 'Monochrome' on 'the channel The First Take'. You can watch the same song performed live too to get a feel for what it typically sounds like.
Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed the live debut and the second performance of RATATATA by BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy together in the two-day Fox_Fest on May 25 / 26 (Japan time) . Fun, happy, exhilarating, bubbly. Those words I could think of, as you can imagine. The song was played in the BABYMETAL's setlist in the festival. So the band in the back of the girls and Nico / Kevin was BM's West Kami Band in place of EC band that played in this MV. That was great, too. The interchangeability between the two versatile bands is good. EC boys can join BM concerts and BM girls can show up in EC's worldwide 😍
Nice reaction. BABYMETAL mostly sings in Japanese so you can use it to explain more about what you were talking about. By the way, BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy just performed this song together at FOX_FEST in Japan. They just gave us the most fun and happiest five minutes of our lives. It was insane! Well, there’s something special about disco ball heads, right? I saw some fans wearing them already. Then I found it on Amazon; that’s where you can get. Enjoy wearing a disco ball head!
I think E-Type will be jealous of this sound. The combination of pop and metal is very compelling here. The whole thing feels very Eurovision - in the best way.
Great review! To really hear Suzuka Nakamoto's wonderful vocal abilities, I recommend two incredible Babymetal ballads: No Rain No Rainbow, and Akatsuki.
ありがとう!🦊 SU-METAL's voice is an integer overtone, and her singing style is unique even for a Japanese. Always love reaction videos that bring in specialist knowledge and point out things I'd not considered before. Hope you have fun delving more into Babymetal.
Thank you for this reaction to this fun song. Please do more Babymetal reactions, Babymetal has a lot more music which is more serious and the main singer Su-metal, is a masterclass in precision. And it all starts with breath support, because they do dancing as well.
"together we will crash the morning light" is the line that might just have one of my favorite choreography move from BABYMETAL it just goes so hard and I don't even know why 🔥
MooOOoooOOOOre Babymetal, did you see how i held that single vowel ? If you really want to see some SU-MEtal falsetto try "From dusk till dawn" Su-Metal has always tried her best to almos exaggerate her pronunciation to its easier to hear what she sings.
Nice! I see Monochrome live from PIA is already the most recommended BABYMETAL song, I totally second that as it's truly a beautiful song, so moving and emotional, but I'd like to suggest another one, Light and Darkness live at PIA which is more revealing of what SU can do nowadays 😅. (Yeah, their two shows at PIA Arena are outstanding!) 🤘🦊⚡️
I would recommend you check out Monochrome by Babymetal (from The First Take channel which is Piano version you can hear the voice clearly, or the live Pia Arena version which is epic)
You are going to enjoy Babymetal’s Su-metal solo in Rondo of Nightmare, with the Kami Band intro at Budokan… in 2014, Su-metal was 16 and so great! th-cam.com/video/tmMocP99QkQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IaE6ktgTYxDZTqE2
🪩 ❤❤ 🦊 🔌 You made a great point about vowels, and of course that's a characteristic of the Japanese language. BABYMETAL's lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) is known for the clarity of her singing. Her articulation is really great. And she does it while dancing. : )
Su-metal is the main lead vocalist, with the others (moa-metal and momo-metal) mostly doing background vocals but there is a small number of Babymetal songs where they do main vocals. In particular teh song 'Headbanger' has several versions with different members taking the lead ('Headbanger Moa ver' and 'Headbanger Momo ver', while the normal 'Headbanger' is Su in the lead as usual).
their names are usually rendered as su-metal, moametal, and momometal. the dash in su's name isn't actually acting like a dash; rather, it's a visual approximation of a kana prolonged sound mark, a holdover from how her name is written in japanese. "prolonged" in this case is compared to the default in japanese; it has no real use in english, since english speakers naturally emphasize the u in her name.
if not for a video, i suggest PAPAYA!! for another dose of Babymetal, bc its so fun, you can see how physically active they are during liveshows while singing, and the song is literally just about papayas
I don't know if you will understand the message I am going to convey to you or not because I am using a translation program. I am a babymetal fan. I like your videos. You are very knowledgeable about singing and you have a positive attitude towards singing and music. Baby metal still has a lot of good songs. For me metal kingdom songs are very good, I want people to watch them, their stage expressions are very good🔥🦊🔥🦊🔥🦊❤️🔥
Su-Metal has been working on her English the whole time. There's video of when shes younger, singing on stage with Judas Priest in English, and the difference is noticeable. She's been doing this since she was like 10.
I love this song! You did a great job analyzing from a vocal coach point of view, even if you need to avoid talking about growls. So, as a thankful next task, i would love to see you doing a reaction to something completely different: "15 Year Old Emma Kok Sings Voilà - André Rieu, Maastricht 2023 (official video)" She´s a young dutch girl singing in french, this vid has over 50 mio views, i´m sure you will love it 🙂
Nice reaction. I highly recommend watching more BABYMETAL. Su has been up there in the top 5 for best female metal vocalist for the last few years. Born with more talent than humanly possible. She has added the vocal skills year after year. Most of their songs are mostly in Japanese. But their fans will help you with translations. Their fans are known as the One. As in one with the band. Babymetal is a group. Su-metal is the lead singer, Moametal backup vocals, harmonies and original member with Su-metal. Last year they added Momoko now known as Momometal. Backup vocals, harmonies and now some growls as well. Very talented and deserved her spot in the group. The other original member was Yuimetal but she left officially in 2018 due to health issues. Su and Moa think of her as family and say even though she left that she will always be a part of Babymetal. She contributed a lot in those early years. Babymetal started in 2010 and their first album came out in 2014. It hasn't been easy for them. They definitely took the hard road of resistance. Coincidently Electric Callboy as I'm told also started in 2010. Things that make you go Hmmm. Now cue your new party music. Hell Yeah! RATATATA
The Japanese language only has the base ah ee eh oh and oo sounds. Their vowels always sound so pure because their language is built and taught that way from the ground up.
Indeed, Spanish vowels are very similar to japanese. Fun fact, us catalans (knowing both catalan and Spanish) can pronounce an almost perfect japanese (or so I was told by my japanese teacher back in the uni).
This video is introducing both EC and Babymetal to a much larger audience. Sometimes you put two things together that you would never think go together, and magic happens. Thanks for checking this out!
Electric Callboy are the most entertaining band in the world right now, not a bad song on last 2 albums and live shows just a mass rave of metal riffs that fill audiences with joy!!
If I were to suggest another Electric Callboy song to check out, I would go with "Techno Train'. Niko's clean vocals are just super clean, the definition of "pop" as well as the song "Pump it" which is very much a Work Out song in more ways than one lol
There’s another song that’s blowing up right now. Woke Up by Japanese girl group XG (it’s all in English and about 6 or 7 of them sing alone at different points.)
Welcome! :) Welcome to the Metalverse! BABYMETAL is the shit! Been a fan for over a decade. You should check out 'DECADE OF DECEIT' as well. I used to roadie for them.
Next, listen to "From Dusk Till Dawn" by BABYMETAL. In this song you can hear her falsetto and high notes. It is difficult because half of the song is falsetto!
Great reaction and analysis! I would love to see you review Babymetal’s lead singer Su-metal’s vocals live! She’s an amazing singer and has been performing with Babymetal since 2010. *Akatsuki (Budokan 2014):* Her solo at age 16. *Light and Darkness (Pia Arena MM, 2023)* Vocally centric song. *Monochrome (First Take Piano Version)* Special piano version, done in 1 take. *Megitsune (Legend 1997 show):* Early Babymetal, typical of most of Babymetal’s fast driving performance, with intense choreography while singing. *Road of Resistance (Official Live):* Jan 2015 show, an epic anthem. 🤘🦊
I wonder Veronna, did you catch that the main female singer in the English chorus "I will push it to the limit ..." is a guy? Its Nico, the one singing in falsetto in the beginning. You still hear Su, the Babymetal singer, clearly, but Nico's voice remove lots of the accent. Or at least, that is how I hear it.
yes, some of the 'obvious' parts become a different type of animal when you are familiar with both bands. some of the growls are by momometal for example. there are live versions out at this point and Nico singing a lot of the clean parts becomes even more obvious there
Electric Callboy and Babymetal wrote this song 50/50. For example the “bun bun bun yui yui” Is kind of the equivalent of “boom boom pow” in Japanese. Shake the booty ❤
fun fact: Su Metal(or MoMo metal, im not sure which, but i think its Su) screams/growls twice in this. the first time is right after the giant discoball and he is holding the 2 electric wires. he growls "ARE YOU READY?" and you hear another loud growl right after going "ARE YOU READY?" that second one was Su. she has been practicing for the last year now apparently and can effectively scream
"I don't speak spanish!" xD I love the reference Oh, and as someone fluent in english an french I would guess that you could enjoy some music from the Maestro himself: Stromae A belgium artist singing mostly in french to upbeat dance music and with deep lyrics.

You should check out Babymetal monochrome piano version to hear the voice of Su-Metal in the purist form. I’d like to hear your thought on that
This, this, this! That track is easily the best example of at least some of what Su can do. She is so talented. (Although, Moa is still my favourite. 😂😇)
Do yourself a favor and watch Babymetal "Monochrome" on The First Take. Su is a VERY accomplished singer, especially for age...
I dunno why Electric Callboy didn't have the confidence to let Su sing her bits by herself.

@@gozuam1617 this is definitely a terminally online parasocial comment.
The harmony between Niko and Su is perfect. Su's voice shines even brighter live.
(Kanjis are a nightmare in any case)
I can write down a Babymetal song in romaji easily, because Su-metal’s singing it’s so clear and precise, even with the heavy metal band behind her, it’s easy to understand.
Everyone always recommends the PIA Arena performances, seems I gotta watch that concert don't I?
Pretty sure Momo did the second "Are you ready"
@@danbadd This was confirmed by Tank (who works for Electric Callboy)
The comment still hits hard, especially after my discovery of Babymetal has greatly increased the importance of music in my life.
I just checked, it's the top Japanese comment on the First Take video again. 🙂

Thank you!! Glad you liked it 😊

Babymetal is absolutely lit....especially live

You should try to see more about Babymetal. Try Babymetal death legend 1997,karate, syncopation. Ahhh and the news songs, like, monochrome, and so many others. You will love it. Babymetal is a Japanese kawai (cute)metal
Babymetal also has a song with bring me the horizon

Hi Verona, welcome to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥
This could have been a great song for your partner to analyze the growlings,. either you're such a lovely vocal coach I've ever met, but I gotta be honest you kinda remind me another Canadian reactor it's been a long time since I don't see her.
Here's a brief info about this Japanese group:
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
They are:
*SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26.
Next suggestion to enjoy a little bit more of her vocal technique:
- Monochrome live at Makuhari Messe 2023
I totally get what you said about the pure vowels.

Thanks also for the tip regarding the vowels
Babymetal are the three girls, Suzuka Nakamoto ("Su-metal"), Moa Kikuchi ("Moa-metal") and Momoko Okazaki ("Momo-metal").
Hi Veronna, tks for the reaction. More BM Please!
For BABYMETAL I would suggest recent live performances of their songs Monochrome, Road of Resistance, and Megitsune, from their PIA Arena 2023 concerts.

As you mentioned a workout and weightlifting and cardio.
Electric Callboy - Pump it. The ULTIMATE workout song.
The after workout song would be "Pump it (velvet version" that even would be more interesting for you, as it is only clean Nico)
And when you are home you might think. I would like some "Babymetal - Gimme chocolate", which works as cardio workout very well too. And as you only saw Babymetal 1st time here, you might be shocked, as that video is 10+ years.
Love the velvet version and the velvet video 😂❤

Babymetal's background is Japanese pop idols, they combine J-Pop with metal music, creating a new genre called Kawai metal (cute/happy metal)🤘🦊🎶
MooOOoooOOOOre Babymetal, did you see how i held that single vowel ?

never seen a slower and more "I am smart, yet I sound dumb" video of this
Nice! I see Monochrome live from PIA is already the most recommended BABYMETAL song, I totally second that as it's truly a beautiful song, so moving and emotional, but I'd like to suggest another one, Light and Darkness live at PIA which is more revealing of what SU can do nowadays 😅.

You made a great point about vowels, and of course that's a characteristic of the Japanese language.

Hell Yeah! RATATATA
Next "MONOCROME" Live PIA Arena by BABYMETAL
Great reaction! If you want to hear Su's vocals beautifully clear, I recommend "Monochrome" piano version on the First Take channel ❤🦊🤘
Well you can make a Live Stream with Mark, just a suggestion !
Niko is the singer with the clean vocals and Kevin the one with the harsh volcals 😉
The Japanese language only has the base ah ee eh oh and oo sounds. Their vowels always sound so pure because their language is built and taught that way from the ground up.
The consonants on the other hand...
Ça me surprends pas mal que tu ne connais pas Babymetal et Su-Metal, une des plus belle voix et soprano accomplie dans l'industrie, depuis 14 ans.

You should do a joint analysis of newer Novelists tracks with Mark; Camille is such a talented vocalist. (And there's one take vocal session by her)
for the 'pure' vowels I just do a breathy onset. Start breathing out and then sing into the breath, seems to work out

Or at least, that is how I hear it.
yes, some of the 'obvious' parts become a different type of animal when you are familiar with both bands. some of the growls are by momometal for example. there are live versions out at this point and Nico singing a lot of the clean parts becomes even more obvious there
top 10 best thing happened this year

Electric Callboy and Babymetal wrote this song 50/50.

Hi Veronna, if you need a workout song, try Pump It by Callboy
fun fact: Su Metal(or MoMo metal, im not sure which, but i think its Su) screams/growls twice in this.
the first time is right after the giant discoball and he is holding the 2 electric wires. he growls "ARE YOU READY?" and you hear another loud growl right after going "ARE YOU READY?" that second one was Su. she has been practicing for the last year now apparently and can effectively scream
