I just ran a marathon in the Edge Paris in my second marathon and improved my time by more than an hour. Age 72 did 4:37 yesterday in Baltimore area and last December did 5:46 in Honolulu in the heat.
Congratulations. I’m the same age and last April I cut 18 min off my previous year’s Boston time wearing a super shoe for the 1st time (the Endorphin Pro 3) though I expect in your case like mine that it’s not just the shoes! My training was better as was my carb loading. But the shoes did help, especially with recovery.
@@Martha-fluterunner I also did more carb loading and that helped prevent a bonk. Shoes do matter if you are in peak condition. Great job to cut 18 min off!
@@EDDBUD Thank you Ed! Three weeks later I ran a 2:01 half on a flat U.S. bike trail in Ohio (easy course) and the two weeks ago a 4:44 in BMO Vancouver Marathon. I hope that I can cut my marathon time to 4:10 or lower. Hard to keep up with you young guys!
@@EDDBUD The race went well, thank you. I'm a mid to forefoot striker, so the Sky Paris worked very well for me. The heel is very narrow; so, I would not recommend this shoe for heel strikers. They would lose stability towards the end of the race when the form starts to break down. Otherwise, this is a brilliant shoe. HIghly recommended with the aforementioned caviat. Cheers, Edd.
@@MyFatAdaptedLife Heel striker here, on Edge Paris. They didn't lost stability in the end of the race for my half marathon on Sunday, but there was some serious post race pain in my right ankle. Sub-strengthening? Maybe. Question-mark if I would use them for a marathon.
I went to Asics just now to buy this shoe right after watching your half marathon review and I was super impressed. It reminded me of Nike Streakflys coz of the lightness and bounce and if that had a v2 this should be it.
Congrats on the PB! Those Sky Paris sure look interesting. Did a half marathon PB in the Superblasts in January in the Faroe Islands, will try new PB in the Endorphin Pro 4s in May 👍😊
🔔Well done Edd , great run (even better given the ups and down's that course has) . I will have to seriously look at that shoe in the summer , my coach ran in them at the Wimslow half this weekend and also ran a great race (he is very fast anyway but would have mentioned it if the shoes did not work for him)
Hi, Ed. Used a generous return policy to test these at the NYC Half Marathon about six weeks ago. Had trained less than any other year I'd run this race and somehow bounced myself to a course PR despite quite a few uphills. You're right, you really don't feel like you're pulling your lead foot up so much as falling into the next step. And, as a stride runner, I was amazed by how much longer my faster-paced strides.
Well done. 🎉🎉🎉. I have the Metaspeed Edge plus and Sky plus. Love the Edge plus but Sky Plus make me feel like I have to go over a bump under the metatarsal every step. Excellent for long fast runs but 10K and up only the Edge Plus.. Confused about both Paris models have the same drop ❓
Congrats on the new pr! You mentioned partially recommending the Sky Paris shoes, was waiting for the buts or downsides. Did a 10 miler yesterday (after half previous weekend) and was happy with it, brought out the adios pro 2s but they're starting to show a bit of wear so not sure how much more I'll get out of them, at about 372km now. Might see if I get lucky with the Sky Paris on Wednesday or else visit shop up the country that's stocking adios pro 3s in next few weeks to try them on
Definitely a good pick for the Olympics marathon then which is getting a nasty hill going to Versailles. I'll stick to AF2 for Paris marathon. Congrats again 🎉
Can't wait for my marathon race with Sky Paris this May! Congrats for the PR, Ed! It felt great to hear your parents were there to cheer you up in 5 different spots. My heart is full!
Congrats Edd. I do remember that in one of your previous videos, you also had a shorter sleep period due to a gig (musical performance) the night before, and surprisingly ran great the next day. Not sure how you do it. Bonkers indeed. I'm still not getting on with the original Metaspeed Sky, still too hard underfoor. But maybe these might be good.
Sounds like you had an amazing time. All the ingredients there, support from loved ones, friends and other runners to push you on and of course, shoes that got the best out of you. The perfect race cake. Oh, what’s that sir? A PR? Let me place that cherry on top of that cake for you. Nice one Mr!
Great seeing you on route, great running!! See you on the start line at Bristol half. About time you got those club colours back on😊. Keep the great work up!!!
Best EDDBUD video ever, for some of the greatest shoes ever! Congratulations! On Sunday I raced Shanghai Suzhou river creek half marathon in Edge Paris. Destroyed 5 PRs including half marathon and 10-freaking-k with average heart rate at 159. Those cats are fast. However they are a bit narrow on the heel. I am heel striker and was limping after race. (to be fair not as bad as with Adios Pro 3) Would you use them for a full marathon?
Congratulations on the PR! If the hilly stuff is for you the Sheffield half might be worth a shout ! 5 miles up at the start and then the back half is all down hill which sends people flying down
Ed, great run. Perhaps relying more on "listening" to your body, monitoring pace accordingly, relying less on what the Garmin is telling you may have something to do with your successful race. In my opinion, Garmin data have their place, but I'm not convinced in a race day situation. I'm old school 😂.
Meanwhile I shattered my Vaporfly 3's carbon plate when I ran over a rock. Afterwards it sounded crunchy. Used a box cutter to cut it open and the plate was like broken dry spaghetti in there. Very odd and splintery if that's even a word. Even had a piece of carbon stuck in my finger afterwards😂
G'day Ed. You really need to give the Edge Paris a go too. I have the Sky Paris and love them, but I just tried the Edge and ran my PB half-marathon (89 min). They are the same comfy, bouncy, light shoe, but they have more of a rocker. I think they have the Edge over the Sky.. They are the best race shoe I've tried.
Congrats on the PR, that's a fast time! I ended up with both the edge and sky Paris, I have to say now that I've had a little time to try the sky out. I do think I like it better and so far my times are actually a little faster in the sky. I was surprised as previously I had a PR in the edge plus. but that was a half marathon as well and I'm doing a full this September, the Sky is definitely softer than the edge Paris at least for me. And as you said it lets you run more naturally because it doesn't have the aggressive, scooped carbon plate.
Absolutely fantastic Edd. Congratulations on your PB. 🎉🎉🎉 All the training and adjustments to your regime is paying off. Really brilliant to see the year on year progression. Keep going more pbs to smash. 💪😎🥇
Well done Ed great time. I'm going to stick with the adidas pro 3 for now as I know them well and loving the prime x strung v2 for my long runs. But I can see the metaspeed sky paris being on my feet in the future.
Excellent “PB” way too much use of PR in this vid. for my liking 🤷🏻♂️ definitely gonna try and get hold of a pair of “edge Paris’” tomorrow, think they will suit 5k and 10ks better which I mainly do. You know what’s gonna happen you will get to Bristol and it will be 20 degrees C, if conditions are good u are going low 1:29s 👊 I’ll be there hopefully doing the 10k.
Thanks for the review!!! Great job with the PR.... Flat course with good training and good weather conditions this could mean a low 1h29 mins...go for it....
I worry about tiredness I may get (like I did in the NYC 1/2) and not having the wider forefoot like the sky. Also I found out I'm more mid striker with some heel but I think you said you are not punished in these if you do hit your heels or forefoot -sometimes I do that just depends on incline/decline and tiredness.
